Splendid Sparkles
The Mesh and Lace Babydoll and G-String Set by Coquette is just as beautiful as I had expected it to be. I purchased the top hoping that I could wear it with a tank top underneath out in public. I really like the way it looks on me as both a bedroom piece and an out in public top. I'd recommend the top to others who are size XL since that is the only size it is currently offered in. Hopefully they will add more sizes so everyone can enjoy this gorgeous outfit!

Pros
Gorgeous, stretchy, sparkly, quality, great length, can be worn as a top.
Cons
Currently only available in size XL.
The Mesh and Lace Babydoll and G-String Set by Coquette is currently only offered in size XL. Luckily, that’s my size! I loved the set when I had first seen it. It reminded me of another babydoll by the same company which I wear out in public as a top. The only difference is that this babydoll has a sheer bottom. I was hoping to wear a black tank top beneath this piece and wear it as a cute shirt out in public. I figured that even if it didn’t work this way, I could still wear it in the bedroom.
The set arrived in a clear plastic bag. The only thing on the bag was a small, white barcode sticker. There was a cardboard tag attached to the babydoll that stated the company name, website, product name, size, and colour. There were also a few photos of a model wearing the outfit. You could store the outfit in a drawer or have the outfit hanging in the closet.
The outfit is 100% polyester (exclusive of trim). The g-string is stretchy and trimmed with elastic band. The g-string is not sheer. The chest area of the babydoll is trimmed with elastic band. The top back of the outfit also has elastic band around it so these areas are stretchy. The mesh material that flows from beneath the chest area and at the back of the piece also has stretch to it but there is a slit down the front making this an open-style babydoll so you won’t really need to stretch the mesh material.
I’ve taken some measurements of the outfit laying flat, unstretched. If you need additional measurements, please send me a message and I will get them for you.
Babydoll
Chest unstretched (armpit to armpit): 15 inches
Chest stretched as much as I could (armpit to armpit): 30 inches
Width beneath chest: 15 ½ inches
Length of chest area: 5 ¾ inches
Length of babydoll (armpit to bottom): 21 inches
Adjustable shoulder strap length: 8 ½ - 16 inches
G String
Waistband unstretched: 16 inches
Waistband stretched as much as I could: 30 inches
Widest part of material that covers your front area: 4 ¾ inches
This outfit is actually the OS/XL rather than the XL. When I was looking at the company’s size chart, I noticed there are a few differences between the two. I’ve circled the OS/XL on the chart below.
All of the decoration on the babydoll sits at the top front and does not continue to the back of the piece. The chest area is an opaque silver coloured material with an overlay of netted material. When I had seen the stock photo, I had assumed that the chest area was a silver-blue colour. It has no blue in it at all. It’s very light silver. This netted material is black with a floral design and silver sparkles on it.
The chest material is not sheer but it’s quite thin. You may want to wear a strapless bra, pasties, or a similar item if you do not want nipple outline to show through the material. There is also no padding or under wire in the chest. The shoulder straps are not detachable though they can be adjusted in length with the little plastic tab (similar to adjusting a bra strap).
At the top of the chest area there is a ruffle trim of the netted material. This trim is approximately 1 inch in length at it’s longest. The trim sits on the elastic band so the more you need to stretch this area, the less ruffled it appears. This trim also sits below the chest and is a bit lengthier.
Directly below the chest, to the side, there is a big bow made of black ribbon. At the centre of this bow there is a sparkly plastic button. It has a diameter of just above ½ of an inch. The bow is not detachable; though I’m sure you could permanently remove it if you were careful. I like the bow so I’m not going to even attempt to remove it. The rest of the babydoll is the sheer mesh material.
The included G-string is just a basic, black g-string. There is no lining in the crotch area. The back top of the g-string is Y-back rather than your typical T-back. So instead of the waistband going straight across the back of the underwear (like a “T”), it comes up from the back of the panty (like a “Y”). You can see this in the photo below.

Experience
...continued
There is nothing fancy about it that makes it match the babydoll. If I were to wear this outfit in the bedroom, I’d probably just pair the top with a black pair of lace boyshorts.
I’m 5’6 and the length of the babydoll is excellent for me. The bottom of the babydoll falls just beneath my bum cheeks. A lot of babydolls that I have are too short for me so I’m very happy with this one. Everything fit well on me. The only thing that looked slightly odd was the big ribbon bow beneath the chest. I think it wasn’t secured to the top as well as it could be. It actually flops over when I’m wearing the piece. You can see this in the photo below.
The material is soft and comfortable against the skin. The only thing that could possibly be irritating after awhile is if you were to rub your inner arm on the netted material at the chest, and you’d have to constantly be rubbing it there. I didn’t have any issues with this when wearing it. The care tag states that the outfit should be hand washed only and hung to dry.
Overall, I’m very happy with the outfit. As I mentioned at the beginning of the review, I purchased this hoping that I could wear it as a top out in public. I tried the babydoll on overtop of a black tube top and it looks fairly nice. The dangling mesh material can add a bit of bulk to your appearance but I’m okay with that. You can see the piece on me in the photos below.
