(Size 38) Mannequins are Scary...This Corset Isn't.
The Pink Brocade Corset is a fabulously made corset that enhances the bustline and smooths out the stomach area. However, the color may be a bit difficult for pale people to wear.

Pros
Comfortable; Boosts bosom; Reversible
Cons
Difficult to get into and out of; Not for pale-skinned people
I have never bought any clothes off of EdenFantasys where the model for it was a mannequin. Now, I don't have pediophobia, or fear of mannequins/dolls, but you have to admit, these "ladies" are kind of creepy. Nevertheless, when Eden puts lingerie on deep clearance markdown, there is incentive to overlook the creepiness of the "models," and focus on the clothing itself. Such is the case for me and the Pink Brocade Corset, now on sale for 50% off through May 4th.
The Basics
The Pink Brocade Corset by DreamGirl is a fashion corset - meaning it is just for looks, not for waist training. The reason it doesn't work well for waist training is that the corset contains plastic boning, not metal boning, so corsets of this nature are too flexible to take multiple inches off of your waistline. However, this corset will assist in smoothing out the stomach, and it will lift the bust in a very pleasing manner, so it is well worth checking out.
This DreamGirl corset is reversible, with the outside featuring a pink scroll pattern, or brocade. Shiny, shimmery thread makes up the pattern, which is delicate and understated. The inside has a black, satin finish. Both sides share a row of heavy, stiff, black lace at the top of the corset. It has four removable garter straps if you wish to wear this in the boudoir.
The material make-up of this corset is 56% polyester, 42% cotton, and 2% elastane. The elastane gives the corset a little bit of stretch (not much), while the cotton and polyester make the corset comfortable. The boning, as mentioned above, is plastic, and it is covered with fabric, so they will not rub the skin. There are eight bones making their way vertically around the length of the corset, with another on each side of the eyes in the back. The back laces up through these eyes with a nice, black ribbon. In the front, fifteen hook and eye closures fasten the corset together. Some slight amount of skin will show in the spaces in between the closures in the front, while the lack of a modesty panel will allow more to show in the back.
This corset comes with a basic, black thong and a pair of black stockings. The thong is 95% polyester, and 5% elastane. The stockings have a reinforced toe and are double layered at the top.
Sizing and Measurements
This corset is available through EdenFantasys in sizes 32 through 44, though as of this writing, sizes 34, 38, and 42 are out of stock. This corset should be ordered to match your bra band size for the best fit. For me, that is a size 38.
If tightlaced, this corset would measure 36" around at its fullest point. If the laces are loosened as much as possible, it will extend to 38", just as it should. The length of the corset in the front is 16", while in the back, the length is 13". The garters will extend from 4" to 7".
The thong measures 13" long from front to back. In the front, the material is 5" across at its widest point, while it is 3" across at its widest point in the back. At its narrowest point - in the crotch - it measures 1 1/4" across. The waistband measures 32" unstretched. The thong includes a cotton panty liner.
The stockings included with this set measure 25" long unstretched.
Packaging, Care Instructions and Storage
This set came to me in a plastic bag on a DreamGirl hanger. There was a tag included that showed a live model - not a scary mannequin - wearing the set. Both sides of the reversible corset were included on the tag photo.
The care instructions for this set say to hand wash the corset and thong in cold water, then line dry. When washing, be careful not to bend the plastic boning, and be sure to hang it in a manner that will keep the boning straight as well. As this corset does get wrinkles, you may wish to press it with an iron on a low setting. Cover the corset with a cloth so as not to singe the fabric.
There are two black ribbons that may be used to hang the corset, but if you wish to wear the corset with the black side showing, you will probably wish to cut those ribbons off, as they will be visible. In such a case, the corset is best stored by placing it flat in a drawer.

Experience
After I received this corset, I realized that it is the same as this DreamGirl corset, except for the color - this one is a pale pink, rather than the red of the other corset. On the reverse side, they are exactly the same. As such, I am not including pictures of the black side - just look at my other review.
The fit of the corset is spot on. It boosts the bosom to display ample cleavage, and it gives a nice illusion of an hourglass figure. It smooths out areas that need to be smoothed. It is comfortable and well made. The corsets I have gotten from DreamGirl are probably the best I have picked up here at Eden.
As this is the same design as the other corset, I have the same complaints about it. The corset is difficult to put on and to take off. The best way is to loosen the ribbon as much as possible, then fasten the hook and eyes in the front (for me, I fastened two at the bottom, two at the top, and two in the middle, then focused on the hooks in between). When the hooks are all fastened, reach around to tighten and tie the ribbon. Personally, the next time I wear this, I will be changing how the ribbon is laced. For me, it is easier to tie the ribbons if both sets are not meeting in the middle. I prefer a set up where the top ribbon ties in the middle of the back, then the bottom ribbon ties at the bottom of the corset.
Another thing worth mentioning about this corset is that the color is extremely pale pink. I could say that it is flesh-colored, as it nearly matches my skin tone. From a distance, it would be hard to tell I was wearing anything but a few black stripes. That is how close to my coloring it is. My SO was not a fan of this one, as he prefers to see me in darker colors, and I have to say, I agree. This would look better on people whose skin tone contrasts better with the color of the corset.
I can't take points off for the color of the corset, but I can for the difficulty level of getting into this thing. So the Pink Brocade Corset receives four stars.

Follow-up commentary
25 days after original review
Rating for a follow-up review can be difficult in a case like this. It isn't that I didn't like this corset before...it's just that the color is not one that is well-suited for my particular skin tone. I love the corset itself, and the color would look fabulous on someone else.
I am going to rate this as "I've started to like it more," but really, I think these heart ratings are not particularly helpful. All I mean to say is that it is a good corset, if you can pull off this shade of pink.
