Shoddy Zipper but Nice Belt
The Satin Garter Belt by Coquette is lovely, except for the zipper. The zipper closure at the centre front of the belt likes to unzip itself when you sit or bend down. If you use the included safety pin, the problem is remedied but the safety pin wasn't actually included for this purpose. I like the way the garter belt looks and how it fits me but only when I safety pin the zipper to stay in place.

Pros
comfortable, cute, rhinestone accents, 6 adjustable garters, 3 rows of hook/eyes.
Cons
no stretch, runs a bit small, shoddy zipper.
I had recently purchased the Satin Garter Belt by Coquette when I was searching for garter belts with little to no bulky decoration. I have quite a few pairs of thigh highs that roll and fall down my leg so I needed a garter belt to hold them up. The reason I was looking for a garter belt with no bulk is because I wanted to be able to wear it beneath my clothing when out in public. The Satin Garter Belt is available in sizes S, M, L, XL, and 2X. I purchased the XL of this garter belt and also purchased another garter piece I though could work.
The garter belt arrived on a plastic hanger and the garter belt was surrounded by plastic. The only text on the surrounding plastic bag was on the barcode sticker. The sticker stated the product name, size, and colour. There was a cardboard tag attached to the garter belt that stated the same information, as well as the company name, company website, and had a few photos of a model wearing the belt. The included hanger would be fine for storing the garter belt but I use the hanger for other articles of clothing. I just keep my garter belt in a drawer.
The care tag states that the belt is 100% acetate (exclusive of trim). The material is non-sheer and there is no stretch to the garter belt. The belt has hook and eye closures at the centre back, which allows for a bit of adjustment to the width. I’ve taken measurements of the garter belt with the hook and eye closures done up on the first row (loosest fit). If you need additional measurements, let me know and I will get them for you.
Waistband: 20 inches
Length of belt (taken down side): 5 ½ inches
Length of belt (taken down centre front): 4 ½ inches
Garter strap length: 4 ¼ -7 inches
There are 3 rows of eye closures at the centre back of the piece. Each row has 2 eyes in it and the rows are ½ an inch apart from each other. The garter belt has 6 plastic boning pieces on it: 2 in the front, 2 in the back, and 1 on each side. At the bottom of each plastic boning piece, there is a garter strap (so there is six garters in total). The garter straps are not detachable though they are adjustable in length and stretchy. The garter straps have metal bottoms with rubber backings.
There is a zipper down the centre front of the belt. The zipped area has little rhinestones on it and the tab to the zipper has rhinestones as well. The rhinestone detail is cute but they are not very sparkly/shiny. They are rather dull looking. The zipper piece is the only thing on the belt that adds bulk, but it only sits about 1/8 of an inch off the belt so it’s not much at all. The pretty appearance of the belt makes it a nice piece to wear in the bedroom. Please note that in the photo below, the flash makes the rhinestones look sparklier than they actually are.
When I put the garter belt on it fit me, but on the very last row of eye closures (loosest fit). The sizing is a bit smaller, especially with no stretch to the belt. You may want to order a size up and do the hook and eye closures up on the tightest fit rather than getting a size that doesn’t do up at all.
When I was wearing the belt, the zipper kept sliding down, unzipping half of the belt. I didn’t have this issue when I was standing up walking around, but I can see this being an issue if you’re wearing it during sex, or wearing it out in public and decide to sit down. This peeved me off because for $20, it better work and work properly.
I didn’t give up on the belt even though the zipper was acting shoddy. I knew I could remedy this somehow. My initial though was to rip off the zipper tab and sew the front area closed. Honestly, I’m way too lazy for that but it definitely could work. I remembered that the cardboard tag that was attached to the garter belt was attached with a very tiny, black safety pin. I took the safety pin and pinned it to the back of the garter belt, right below the zipper tab when it was fully done up. This worked perfectly.

Experience
...continued
With the safety pin being the same colour as the belt, it’s not noticeable at all. Also, the safety pin is so tiny and thin that it doesn’t create any bulk when worn, nor does press against the skin in a way that would hurt. The safety pin keeps the zipper completely zipped whether you’re sitting, standing, or doing kart-wheels. If you pin the zipper like I have, you’ll want to take the belt off and put it on by using the hook and eye closures at the back rather than zipping and unzipping (you can’t zip it when the safety pin is in the way).
The garter belt was soft and comfortable. It did a great job at holding up my thigh high stockings and I love the fact that the belt has 6 straps rather than four. The belt did a great job beneath my skirt and it was not obvious/apparent that I was wearing a garter belt beneath it.
I don’t have any complaints about the material of the garter belt or irritated skin while wearing it. The care tag states that the belt should be hand washed and I assume that it should be line dried.
I’ve deducted only one star from the rating because of the zipper issue, though it’s easily fixed by using the included safety pin. I really like the garter belt and am happy with my purchase.
