Seams To Be Coming Apart
It's not the most comfortable of corsets I have worn and the stitching down one of the boning seams leaves a bit to be desired, but it is a stunning looking set. Although corsets are made to draw in the body to give that perfect shape, I'd tend to test drive this one to make sure the quality is there before adding too much pressure on the seams. Unfortunately, it was somewhat of a letdown for me.

BRAND & COLOUR:
The Lace Back Corset and G-string set is a DreamGirl creation made in China.
Unfortunately this one only comes in deep red shade. It actually has three different red tones with black trimmings. When looking at the fabric on the side, it appears quite dark.
MATERIAL:
Both the corset and g-string are made from 100% polyester. The fabric feels somewhat like light upholstery material, but a softer version with a mesh backing so it's gentle on the skin.
I chose the 38 and even though my chest measures 42”, I like a corset to be somewhat open in a lacy back. Plus it means it will fit me for longer as I lose weight.
The measurements below are done on the garment I received.
G-STRING:
The g-string features some black crochet looking lace across the top front and back edges. Lining the sides of the panel is black shiny satin fabric while elastic (just under ½” wide) joins the front to the back and creates the waist band. There is no give at all in the actual panel due to the natural of the material. Inside is a thin strip of soft cotton acting as a panty liner that measures 4 ¼” in length.
Waist Band:
Unstretched: 15 ¾”
Stretched: 30”
Panel:
Front to back: 15 ½”
Width at front: 4 ¾”
Width at back: 2 ½”
Widths are measured across the top edges.
CORSET:
Down the front is 15 pairs of hook and eyes with a soft fleecy strip backing the eyes, so when the corset is closed there won't be any flesh seen. Along the chest edge and up the inner fabric part of the halter straps are done in the same crochet lace to match the g-string. The majority (22 ½” length) of the halter ties are created using 1 ½” wide black ribbon. Lining the top edge under the armpit and across the back are edged with the same black satin fabric as is on the g-string. The bottom hem features a 2 ¼” strip of black crochet lacing, different from the triangle patterned version around the bust edge. In the back is two strips of solid black fabric in which 12 sets of eyelets are attached to. This allows the ties to be pulled tight without ripping more delicate material. These ties are shiny, smooth and round, so they have the tendency to work themselves undone unless double bowed. They are also on the short side if you like some gap in the back. I have a 2 ¼” gap at the waist and 3 ½” gap at the hip height which gives me just enough cord to tie up (I'm short waisted so it sits low on me). The ties are done in two sections – 6 eyelet sets for the top and 6 for the bottom with the two cords meeting/tying in the middle.
There are 8 plastic boning strips; 2 up the front to help give bust support, 1 down each side for smooth shaping and then 2 on the back.
On the bottom of the corset are four adjustable and removable garter straps made from black elastic. They can adjust from 5” up to 9 ¼” and feature a plastic clip on the end.
There is a hanging loop at each side, at the armpit area, to make storing easier.
Across open corset:
Ties on tightest at the waist: 31”
Ties at the loosest across the bottom: 38”
Of course, if you put some longer laces in the back, it can go a lot bigger than the above. The laces on this one are pretty short compared to other corsets I own.
Length – including lace:
Hook/eye opening: 16 ¼”
Sides: 13 ½”
Back ties: 12 ¾”

Experience
CLEANING ~ PACKAGING:
The tag on the inside of the corset and g-string states to dry clean only. In my hast to just clean it as soon as it arrived so I could try it on, I hand washed it without looking at the cleaning instructions. I would have done the same thing even if I knew it was a dry clean only garment. I refuse to pay out for a service that really isn't necessary. My corset is in the exact condition as it arrived it. Hand washing is perfectly fine. I think hung it up on the line to drip dry. I'd never throw this in the machine cause of the boning.
The set arrived packaged up in Eden's pink tissue paper. It's simple, but does the job of protecting it from rubbing against anything else in your package. There's no sticky tape used, so the paper could be re-used if you wanted to. Attached to one side is a piece of cardboard with a model wearing the set. Make sure to cut the plastic piece that attaches this tag as it could very easily tear a hole in the corset. The g-string is loose in the tissue paper.
EXPERIENCE:
I have a 42” chest and this one fits me no worries. Even though this one is charted as fitting a 38” chest, I only have a 2 ¼” gap going on in the back at chest level. I'm seriously thinking about putting some ribbon laces in mine so I can loosen the hip area. Unfortunately for me, I'm short waisted so it covers part of my hip area and with the laces being short, they are at the max.
I much prefer my Liquid Shine Corset cause it feels more relaxed and comfortable due to the stretchy ‘wet look' material.
But this one certainly works better at sucking in any trouble areas you may have in the upper torso. This being said, mine is starting to fray and coming apart (in two places) along one of the front boning seams due to the pressure. Obviously there was a weakness already there, as all other seams are still perfect and I haven't had this happen with a corset in the past.
I'm giving this set 3 stars.

Follow-up commentary
1 month after original review
Saying I don't like it any more isn't quite true, but probably the closest to how I feel. I like the look of it still, but I haven't worn it since it started to come apart at the seam. I'm at a loss as to what to do about it. I don't believe it's something I can repair myself.
I'll perhaps take it to the local seamstress to see if she can work some magic on it. Until then I don't want to make it worse by wearing it.

Thank you for viewing Lace back corset and thong – corset discontinued review page!
Yeah, it's pretty bad when it starts to come apart so easily. But this was just the first DreamGirl item that I've had an issue with. Wait til ya see the shoddy job they did on part of my Good Luck Charm costume. I have very little faith in them now!
I'm thinking about taking mine to a dress maker to see if anything can be done to repair it cause it's too nice to just throw away.
