Ruffles, Ruffles Everywhere!
The lace corset with ruffled top by Coquette is absolutely beautiful! When I wore the corset, I received a ton of compliments on it, which made me feel confident and pretty. This is my first corset by Coquette, and it will not be my last!

Pros
beautiful, feminine, adjustable, detachable pieces, wide variety in sizes,
Cons
price is a bit high, black shows underneath ruffles
As soon as I seen this corset, I loved it. I’m a sucker for ruffles! I love pieces that make me feel pretty and feminine, and with all the ruffles and the sash bow on this corset, I knew I just had to own it! The lace Corset is available in size S-1X/2X. I purchased the size XL. The corset is only available in the colour red.
The corset arrived folded neatly wrapped with hot pink tissue paper. The corset had a tag attached to it with a photo of a model wearing the corset, along with two plastic zip-lock type bags. One of the plastic bags held the 4 detachable garters and the other held the 2 detachable shoulder straps.
The corset is 100% polyester. The ruffled trim is mesh, and the hook and eye closures in the back are metal. The boning is said to be metal on the product page, but it seems to actually be plastic and is quite flexible. There are 11 boning pieces in total. There is a thick elastic band on the inside of the corset that goes all the way around it. The elastic band gives the corset A LOT of stretch. There are 18 eye and hook closures that run down the middle back of the corset. There are two rows of eye closures with approximately a ¾ inch width between them.
I’ve taken some measurements of the corset lying flat, unstretched. The measurements were taken with the corset done up on first row of eyes (the least tight row). If you need additional measurements, feel free to send me a message and I can get them for you.
Waist (middle of corset): 14 ½ inches
Hips (bottom of corset) 17 ½ inches
Chest (top of corset) 16 ½ inches
Length of corset (taken down front, middle of corset, from top ruffle to bottom ruffle): 17 inches
Length of eye and hook closure section on back of corset: 13 inches
Length of red sash: 65 inches
Teddy bear broach: 1 ½ inches tall, 1 inch wide
Detachable, adjustable shoulder strap length: 9 ½ - 18inches each
Detachable, adjustable garter length: 5 – 8inches each
The sash is removable, as is the bear on the bow of the sash. The bear is actually a broach, so if you do not like him on the corset, he can be removed and put onto something else. The bear is soft and seems to be filled with cotton (or something similar). When I first seen the stock photo I assumed he was a plastic little bear but he is actually just a miniature sized teddy bear; soft and cuddly. The sash stays in the middle section of the corset because there are two thin loopholes (similar to belt loops on a pair of jeans) on the corset. There is one on each side of the corset that you run the sash through.
There are five layers of ruffles on the bottom of the corset, and five on the top.
The loops to attach the garters and/or shoulder straps are located behind the ruffles, so if you choose to not wear either attachments, it will not look awkward since the loops are hidden.
Below are a few photos of the corset being worn by me. The third photo is how I would probably wear the corset out in public (with a short cardigan covering my shoulders). The corset doesn’t really hold anything in for me, and it actually makes my hips look larger than they already are. I’m okay with the fact that it doesn’t hold everything in though, because I bought it for it’s prettiness, not to make me appear slimmer (though I wish my hips looked a bit smaller).
The material was comfortable to wear, but I did need my partner to do the back eye and hook closures up for me. I attempted to do it up myself, but that didn’t happen. I am wearing the corset on the second row of eye closures (tightest fit). There is no under wire in the chest area, and I found that it really didn’t do anything for my chest except make them look a bit smaller than they actually are.
If you look at that third photo of me wearing the corset, you’ll notice a black line running along the corset bottom where the ruffles are. This was really the only issue I had when wearing the corset. Under the first row of ruffles, there is an ugly black piece that runs along the corset. If the ruffle does not stay in place, the black line will show. I’ve taken a photo of this close up so you have a better understanding of what I’m explaining.

Experience
...continued
So while wearing the corset, I had to continue to check the ruffles every so often to make sure they were in their place so the black was not showing. This was a bit annoying, but the corset is so beautiful that I forgive this small flaw. While I was wearing the corset, I didn’t notice the corset losing it’s shape, or any other problem with it. When I went to take the corset off, I had to get my partner’s help again though.
The care tags in the corset states that the corset should be hand washed and to hang dry. I suggest hanging the corset up when it is not in use to avoid the corset losing it’s shape. The corset has loops in it to hang on a hanger in your closet.
The piece is absolutely gorgeous, and when I wore it, I received tons of compliments, but overall I have to rate this corset a 4 out of 5. I really wanted to rate it a 5 out of 5 but the reason it loses a star is because of the ruffles not staying in place, and the black showing underneath them; also, the product page says the boning is metal, but the boning actually seems to be plastic. The last reason is because I find the price of $66.99 a bit too high.
