Pink Ruffles, Polka Dots, and Bows... SO CUTE!
The Polka Dot Corset by Coquette is such a cute little piece! The ruffle trim, polka dots, and bows are very feminine. The corset fits very well and has quite a bit of stretch to it. I'd recommend this piece to those who are looking for a sweet looking piece that can be worn either in or out of the bedroom. The boning is flexible plastic so it's not going to do any shaping, but it's just so darn cute!

Pros
feminine, cute, stretchy, comfortable material, detachable garter straps, padding in cups.
Cons
flexible boning doesn't do any shaping, a bit pricey.
The Polka Dot Corset by Coquette is available in sizes S-1X/2X. I ordered the size XL. Usually I’m not too crazy about the colour pink but when I had seen the stock photo on the product page, I thought it was so adorable that I just had to have it. I really loved the look of all the ruffles and bows.
The corset arrived rolled up beneath hot pink tissue paper. Attached to the corset were a cardboard tag and a small zip lock style bag. The tag has a few photos of a model wearing the piece, the company name, size of product, and company website on it. The zip lock style bag held the 4 adjustable, detachable garter straps.
The corset is 82% nylon and 18% spandex (exclusive of trim). The material is quite stretchy. The corset itself has an elastic band that runs horizontally through the centre of the corset (all the way around it), which gives the piece even more stretch. It seems the more the material is stretched, the more sheer it becomes, but when I’m wearing the corset it isn’t see through.
I’ve taken measurements of the corset laying flat, unstretched. The corset was done up on the second row of eye closures (tightest fit). If you need additional measurements, please send me a message and I can get them for you.
Chest (armpit to armpit): 16 ½ inches
Cup length: 5 ½ inches
Cup width: 7 inches
Halter strap length: 26 inches each
Width of bottom of corset: 17 ½ inches
Length of corset (armpit to bottom): 15 inches
Length of corset (down centre back): 13 inches
Garter strap length: 5 ½ - 9 inches
The corset has hook and eye closures down the centre back. There are 2 rows of eye closures with 18 eyes in each row. There is ¾ inch between the rows. The corset has 11 plastic boning pieces in it; 5 in the front, 4 down the back, and 1 on each side.
The product page for the corset says that the halter straps are optional. The halter straps are not detachable, so I assume that if you want to wear the piece without the halter straps, you’ll need to tuck them into the chest area of the corset. The halter straps start at each cup. The first 7 inches of the halter strap is the polka dot mesh material in a long triangular shape, while the rest of the strap is a pink ribbon. The mesh part of the strap is much more sheer than the corset. The corset halter straps are quite lengthy (see measurements above) so they should not be an issue for anybody.
There is soft, mesh ruffle trim that runs along the top and bottom of the corset and around the back of the piece. When I look at the product page ruffle trim and than the ruffle trim on the piece I received, there’s a difference. I think that the ruffle trim looks different on the piece I received because during shipping the ruffles became smushed. They just don’t seem to look as pretty because they’ve been squashed. This isn’t a huge deal breaker but it was a slight annoyance. The bow was also squashed too. You can see this in the photo below.
There are three pink ribbon bows on the corset; 1 between the cups, and 2 at the very bottom front of the piece. All of the bows are approximately the same size and all of them are attached to pins making them detachable. The bows are on broach-style pins so you can move them around on the corset to where you feel they look best, remove a couple of them, or take them all off completely. I think this is nice because I know not everyone has the same love for bows as I do.
The garter strap loops to attach them to the corset are on the inside of the corset above the ruffle trim. If you choose not to wear the garters, the loops do not show so it does not look odd. I like wearing my corsets out in public so I don’t use the garter straps often. Also, the corset does not come with any stockings to attach the garters to so you’ll need to use a pair that you already have or purchase a pair to wear with the piece.

Experience
...continued
The cups in the corset have padding in them so you do not need to wear a bra with the piece in fear of any nipple outlines showing. There is no underwire in the cups. I wear C cups and found that this piece really accentuated my chest rather than hide it. My C cups fit comfortably but I am unsure of how a larger cup size would feel in this corset. My chest was really hanging out of the top area so if you have a larger chest than me, just know you’ll be hanging out of the top a bit more.
The material of the corset is very soft and comfortable against the skin. I have no complaints about the material being irritating or bothersome. The ruffle trim is a soft mesh too so it does not scratch like other trim can. The care instructions on the tag states that the corset should be hand washed only and hung to dry.
As for my experience with the piece, I feel it was good. When I put the corset on, I had no one around to help me so what I had did was do the corset hook and eye closures up backwards (they were at the front of my body) and once they were all done up, I turned the corset around so the hook and eye closures were at the centre back of my body. This was actually fairly easy to do because the corset has so much stretch to it. The corset was most comfortable on the second row of eye closures (tightest fit).
I’m 5’6 in height and I feel that the length of the corset is perfect for me. Often I am left with my muffin top hips sticking out the sides because usually these pieces don’t have the length I need to cover them. This piece has the length I need in the front, back, and sides so that my middle area is not exposed. This is an important thing to me since I am an XL and have insecurities about my pudgy middle section. As I had mentioned previously, the cups felt comfortable on my C chest. Before tying the halter straps behind my neck, I tried tucking them into the cups to see how it looks “strapless”. I personally prefer the straps because it helps hold the top up.
As for “sucking things in”, the plastic boning really didn’t do any of this for me. I don’t find this piece helpful in shaping at all, or at least compared to others I have tried. Below are a few photos of me wearing the corset to give you an idea of how it fits.
Overall I’m very happy with the corset. It’s really comfortable, it’s stretchy, it’s oh-so-cute, it’s not sheer when I wear it (which is important considering I wear these pieces out in public), and it has the length that I need to cover my hips and middle area. I find the price to be rather steep, but there are always coupon codes to use or you could wait until the lingerie goes on sale if you find the price a bit too high as well.
