Pair with Leggings
The Organza Tutu by Leg Avenue is really adorable! I'm actually a size XL but fit nicely into the OSFM of this piece. I was really happy with the way the waistband stretched but the organza is scratchy against bare skin. You'll probably want to wear a pair of leggings beneath the tutu to avoid the skin irritation. Also, the tutu is quite short so you'll want to wear opaque leggings with it if you are wearing the piece out in public.

Pros
Inexpensive, cute, stretchy waistband, fits larger than suggested measurements.
Cons
Material is a bit scratchy, very short, only available in red.
The Organza Tutu by Leg Avenue is available in one-size-fits-most only. I usually wear a size XL but I thought the tutu was so cute that I just had to have it. I was hoping that the tutu would stretch to fit me since I can sometimes fit into the OSFM items comfortably.
The tutu arrived in a durable plastic packaging. The packaging had a hanger at the very top of it with snap closures at the top back. There was a cardboard insert at the front of the packaging that had a photo of a model wearing the tutu and stated the company name, product name, size, material composition, care instructions, and company contact information. You could use the packaging for storage, keep it in a drawer, or hang it in the closet. I like using these types of bags to store my more delicate items in like stockings, underwear, etc.
The care tag states that the tutu is 100% nylon so I am not sure why the product page states that it is polyester. The waistband is thick elastic so it has quite a bit of stretch. When unstretched, the waistband measures 13 ½ inches. When I stretched the waistband as much as I could, the width was 24 ½ inches. The length of the elastic band is 1 ¾ inches. The skirt consists of 6 layers. The layers are very light, sheer, and not stretchy.
The layers, at their longest, have a length of 8 inches. That being said, you’ll want to wear a pair of opaque leggings if you’re wearing the tutu out in public. When you first take the tutu out of the packaging, the organza layers are very crumpled. You’ll need to take a few minutes to flatten/pull out the layers to make them look the way you want them to.
Leg Avenue’s size chart states that the one-size-fits-most is best suited for those with a hip measurement between 34-40 inches. My hip measurement is actually 41 ½ inches. I’m pleased to say that the elastic band to the tutu is super stretchy and fits me nicely. I didn’t experience any muffin top while wearing the tutu. Actually, there is still quite a bit of stretch to the band while I’m wearing it so if you’re measurements are a bit larger than mine, you’d be comfortable with the band as well.
The length of the tutu, as I had mentioned previously, is very short. The stock photo makes the tutu look like it has the length to cover the model’s crotch but it doesn’t fully cover mine when I am wearing it. The back of the tutu is where the length really doesn’t work for me. I am 5’6 and have a fairly large bum. Most of my bum is exposed if I don’t wear leggings with the tutu. This isn’t an issue if I’m wearing it in the bedroom but it’s worth noting if you plan on wearing this piece in public.
Another thing about the tutu is the scratchiness of the organza material. When I wore the tutu without any leggings beneath it, the bottom layers of the tutu would rub against my skin. The material is not the most uncomfortable material I’ve ever encountered but it does get a bit irritating after awhile. It lightly scratches against the skin.
I had looked online to find a solution to soften the organza material. I had found an E-How Article that gives step-by-step directions, though I have not tried it yet. I will update in the follow-up review once I do. The care tag states that the piece should be hand washed in cold water and tumble dried on low. The tutu should not be bleached and should be ironed on low when needed.
Overall, I think it’s a cute little piece. I really love that it fits me without giving me any muffin top. The length doesn’t work for me for public wear, but I plan on wearing it with leggings anyway. I’ve deducted 2 stars from the rating because of the scratchiness and the lack of length.
