One word for this waist cincher- complicated
This waist cincher from Coquette is a gorgeous looking piece for those who are into costumes or fetish wear. It can give your waist a nice shape, and feels pretty at the same time. Just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to figure out how to get the laces right.

Pros
Very pretty, genuine corset-like feel to this piece
Cons
Very hard to get the laces right, length is awkward if you have a chubby middle
This waist cincher is made by Coquette. It's red with black polka dots and black lacing ribbons in the back. The red material on the front is made of velvet, and there's a black satin ruffle on the bottom edge on both the front and edge of the product. While the back is lace up, the front closes with metal clasps. It came in a box, wrapped in plastic and on a nice black hanger (which you can't really see in the photo). Four garter straps came in a plastic baggie pinned to the waist cincher. It's got garter hooks.
Once I took the waist cincher out of the bag, I was stunned by how long the laces were.
I wasn't expecting it to be difficult to get this on, and I was putting it on by myself. The laces were tied tight, and I tried putting it on without adjusting them, but I had a good 3-4 inches gap while trying to close the clasps on the front of the corset. So, I realized I was going to be doing some adjusting on this. The laces are VERY long, I will have to read up on how to lace a corset properly, as I'm not sure where you put the excess laces. It would be easier to get into this piece with a partner, definitely.
I only have two other Coquette products, but their 1X seems to be a good size for me (I'm a US 16 pant size, 40D cup size). The sizing on this seemed weird, I guess the product is made to be unlaced a bit and show off 'back cleavage'. If you aren't comfortable with that sort of look, you might have to wear a shirt under this waist cincher. It is pretty tight and a little uncomfortable to sit down in. I am not sure if I would wear this in public for an ordinary reason, but for an occasion that warranted fetish wear, it would be a wonderful fit. It is a very pretty piece, and it did take in my waist to give me a nicer looking silhouette.
Once I finally got the back laces adjusted, this is how the front looked. It kind of hits in an awkward place, if you have any sort of tummy fat. Also, the gap with the ruffle is really unflattering. I wish the waist cincher were an inch or two longer to hide that part of my torso better.
The back. I am pretty sure I could get the laces tighter and it'd look better, but I'd probably need another set of hands involved.

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
The clasps and laces on this piece are still sturdy after months, and it's still a beautiful looking waist cincher.
