Oh My Gosh, It's Actually Opaque!
The Holiday Chemise by Coquette is fabulous! The outfit is opaque and has the length which would be appropriate to wear in public. It's adorable enough to wear as a lingerie piece and it's comfortable enough to sleep in. It may not have all of the bells and whistles that other chemises may have, but its simplicity is sweet. I am in love with this chemise!

Pros
Inexpensive, opaque, comfortable, length, stretchy, adorable.
Cons
no padding or underwire.
The Holiday Chemise by Coquette is available in one-size-fits-most and XL. I had purchased the XL size. The outfit arrived in a clear, plastic bag. There was a small barcode sticker on the bag. Other than the barcode sticker, there were no images or text on the bag. The bag is not ideal for storing the chemise. I’d suggest hanging the chemise on a hanger or storing it in a drawer.
There was a cardboard tag attached to the chemise when it had arrived. The tag had a few images of a model wearing the chemise and stated the company name, website, product name, size, and colour. If you were giving the outfit as a gift, I’d suggest wrapping it in paper or putting it into a gift bag since the packaging is really only good for shipping purposes (keeping it clean).
The care tag states that the outfit is 50% cotton and 50% polyester. The material is very stretchy and does not become sheer the more it is stretched. The material is thin so you may want to wear a pair of pasties or similar item beneath the outfit if you are concerned about nipple outline. There is no padding or underwire and the chemise does not come with a panty.
I’ve taken a few measurements of the chemise laying flat, not stretched. If you need additional measurements, please send me a message and I will get them for you.
Adjustable shoulder strap length: 9-16 inches
Length of chest area (down centre front): 5 inches
Width beneath chest: 17 ¼ inches
Width of bottom of chemise: 27 ¼ inches
Length of chemise (armpit to bottom): 26 ½ inches
The chemise is fairly basic in appearance. The main colour of the outfit is red. There is a black horizontal strip of material beneath the chest that goes all the way around to the back of the chemise. The black beneath the chest measures approximately 1 ¾ inches in length, not stretched. The very bottom of the chemise is trimmed with black lace. The lace is 2 inches in length and runs around the entire bottom of the chemise.
The very top of the chemise is trimmed with elastic band. The elastic band runs along the top of the chest area and continues to the back of the chemise. The elastic along the top of the chest is covered by black lace. The lace is just over ½ of an inch in length. The elastic trim to the chest creates a subtle ruched look to the chest area. That being said, the more you need to stretch the elastic trim, the less ruched the chest will look.
The shoulder straps are not detachable but they are adjustable in length. They are also stretchy. There is a tiny black bow made of ribbon at the bottom front of each shoulder strap. The bows are 1 ¼ inches wide and 1 ½ inches in length. The bows are not detachable but could be permanently removed with a seam ripper if you didn’t like them.
The last time I checked my weight, I was in the high 160’s. I’m 5’6 in height, wear a C cup, 38 bra band, and my hip measurement is 41 inches. It’s important to note that while EF has the chemise listed as “XL”, the chemise is actually “OS/XL”. There are differences between the two sizes when you look at the company’s sizing chart.
The chemise fits me well. It’s not really form fitting with my measurements but I like it a bit loose. My C cups fit nicely into the chest area of the chemise but there is definitely room for a D cup to fit. The length of the chemise is also lovely. I’m 5’6 and the bottom of the chemise falls between my knees and upper thighs. You can see in the photo below that the black band below my chest seems to want to fold up beneath my boobs. I’m going to assume that this wouldn’t be an issue for those with smaller chests.

Experience

My favourite thing about the chemise, which you can see in the image above, is that it is completely opaque! A lot of times when a piece looks opaque in the stock photo, I end up purchasing it and it’s ridiculously sheer. With the chemise being opaque, you could even wear it as a little dress paired with a nice cardigan/shawl. It has the length that I consider appropriate to wear in public.
The chemise is also extremely comfortable. It would work nice as a lingerie piece for the bedroom but it’s also comfortable enough to sleep in. The material is really soft against the skin. I have absolutely no complaints of skin irritation while wearing the chemise. I also do not have any complaints about the quality. The care tag states that the outfit should be hand washed only and hung to dry.
Overall, I’m very happy with this piece! I adore the fact that it’s so comfortable and opaque. This is an outfit you can wear year-round for a variety of purposes. I would absolutely recommend it to others!
