It's Like The Racer Ran Over My Boobs
The Racer Corset by Coquette is cute and would work well in a variety of situations: a costume party, photo shoot, public wear, bedroom wear for role playing, or Halloween. The only thing you need to really know about the corset is that the company decided to put two extra boning pieces right along the chest. This means that they'll appear a bit flattened. If you're okay with flattened boobs, then this corset may work for you.

Pros
Cute, has a bit of stretch, detachable shoulder straps, comfortable.
Cons
Boning on breasts flatten them, too short on sides (for me).
The Racer Corset by Coquette is available in sizes S-XL. I purchased the size XL. The corset would be excellent to wear for role-playing in the bedroom, to wear out in public as a top, to wear to a costume party, for Halloween, a photo shoot, or to wear to the races (if you go). I purchased the corset to wear out in public but I’ll probably use it for all of the above.
The corset arrived in a costume style packaging; a thick durable plastic bag attached to a hanger, and plastic snap closures. The front of the packaging has a photo of a model wearing the corset and states the contents of the package, the colour and size of the piece, the company name, and company website. I don’t store my outfits in these bags but I do keep them to store special stockings, panties, etc in. I keep the corset in my closet.
Inside of the bag, the corset had a thin piece of cardboard between it. There was a tiny zip lock style bag that held the two detachable shoulder straps. The corset is 100% polyester, exclusive of trim. The corset is opaque. The front of the corset does not have any stretch to it but the back of the corset is stretchy.
I’ve taken some measurements of the corset laying flat, unstretched. The hook and eye closures were done up on the first row or eyes (loosest fit). If you require additional measurements, let me know and I’d be happy to get them for you.
Chest (armpit to armpit): 16 inches
Width at bottom of corset: 14 ½ inches
Length of corset (taken down side): 13 inches
Length of corset (taken down centre back): 11 ¾ inches
Adjustable shoulder strap length: 9-17 inches
The corset has two closures to it. The first closure is a zipper that runs down the centre front of the piece. The zipper is a silver coloured metal with a circular pull tab. There is no material behind the zipper to protect your skin from being pinched by the zipper. The second closure to the piece is hook and eye closures. The hook and eyes run down the centre back of the corset. There are two columns of eyes with 16 eyes in each column. The columns have a ¾ inch width between them.
The main colour of the front of the corset is black. There is red wet-look material on the sides and has black and white checked material between two of the boning pieces. There are 8 flexible, plastic boning pieces in total and they are all at the front of the corset. There is 1 on each side of the front, 2 on each side of the zipper that curve outwards, and 2 smaller bones that branch vertically off of the curved boning (1 on each side).
On the one side of the front of the corset, there are 3 patches. The one says “racing” the middle patch says “M.H.LEI 60” and the lower patch says “pit crew”. The back of the corset has no designs on it. It’s just a black back. The shoulder straps are detachable and adjustable in length. There are no loops on the inner bottom of the corset to attach garter straps to.
I wear a C cup and the chest was quite tight on me. I had the corset done up on the first row of eye closures (loosest fit). The random boning piece that branches off of the curved piece goes along each boob. I have no idea why there would be a random piece of bone on each chest but that’s what they’ve done. There is also no padding or underwire in the chest. Below you can see the boning pieces that I’m talking about. I’ve circled them in yellow.
While the boning is a flexible plastic, it still will flatten the boobs a bit. This corset would have probably worked a lot better without those extra branching bones. It doesn’t hurt when wearing the corset but it just makes my boobs like odd and much flatter than they actually are.
I’m 5’6 in height and the length of the front of the corset was good for me. The sides were a bit shorter so my flub hips were exposed. I won’t have these areas exposed out in public so I’ll either need to figure out a way to extend the length or keep this as a bedroom only piece. Depending on the length of your torso, the corset may have the length you need (see measurements above).

Experience
...continued
Below is a photo of me wearing the corset. The first is a front view and the second is a side view. The side view photo really shows how short the corset is when I wear it. Also, the side view photo shows how flat my boobs look in this specific corset.
Other than the boning on the boobs, the corset material was comfortable and I have no complaints of skin irritation while wearing the piece. The care tag states that the outfit should be hand washed only and hung to dry.
I have deducted two stars from the rating because the length is a bit short and also the boning in the chest is slightly ridiculous. I could see the boning on the chest being done if it were a full piece of boning that started at the bottom of the piece and worked its way up the corset but that’s not the case at all. They actually ADDED the random small piece of boning to go over the chest. It really boggles my mind.
I think that the outfit may work for those with smaller chests, as it won’t look as awkward with the flattening. I really love the look of the corset but it just doesn’t work well for me. If you decide to purchase this piece, I hope it work better and looks better on you than it does on me.
