Hugs your curves
The Modernista is the perfect little black dress to add to your collection. It wears well on many body types, is relatively easy to maintain, and makes you feel uber sexy!

Pros
Curve hugging, affordable, sexy mesh cutouts
Cons
scratchy material
I was hesitent in ordering The Modernista dress from DreamGirl because it was a little smaller than what I fit right now. I caved thinking I could fit into it by Valentine's Day and the hubby would love it. I just had a baby so my stomach is really flabby and I have an "overhang" so I can't wear super tight dresses or low rise pants. Knowing that this dress was skin tight, getting rid of the overhang was a MUST before Valentine's Day. When it came in the mail, I put it to the side for a few days because hubby was home 24/7 and I didn't want him to see it. When he finally left I -attempted- to try it on.
My sizes are as follows:
Bust:46
Waist: 43
Hips: 54
Weight: 228
According to the sizing chart, DreamGirl's XL lingerie should fit:
Bust: 40-48
Waist: 36-40
Hips: 42-48
Weight: 165-225
The dress itself was somewhat stretchy. I unzipped the zipper (which runs all the way down the back of the dress) and tried to zip it back up around me. That failed, miserably. Then I zipped it halfway up and stepped into it. Doing this I was able to zip it up about 3/4 of the way but nothing more. Getting kind of frustrated, I zipped the whole thing up and pulled it over my head. After what seemed like forever wiggling and jumping around my bathroom I was able to pull it down into place. I hesitantly looked into the mirror and was astonished at what I saw.
Not only was it showing off my smaller waist, it made my pear shape look hourglass. It hugged the curves I wanted to show off and hid the bulges I wanted to hide. Even though it seemed like I was stuffing a sausage into a pin hole I looked amazing. When hubby got home, I excitedly showed off my new dress and he loved it. He is a conservative man but he loved the little areas of sheer fabric and thought the full length zipper was sexy.
Word to the wise, you won't be able to wear a bra with this dress unless you don't mind people seeing it through the sheer places. Also, I wear a 42 DD/E bra and the top of this was very restrictive. My girls where a little squished. And be mindful of the placement of your nips if you go braless because the area where they are supposed to hide seems to move quite often. The Modernista's straps are removable as well.
Unstretched, The Modernista is 33 inches long (from the front) and 17 inches wide from the widest points. It is made from 88% polyester and 12% spandex. The tag on the dress says to hand wash in cold water and line dry. Personally, I washed it on delicate and tumble dried, it came out perfect! The material on this dress does feel a bit scratchy, so those with really delicate skin either order a size larger so you have room to move or wear a slip underneath it.
I can give my stamp of approval to this dress for any day you want to feel a little sexier!

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
While I've only worn the dress a few times, it appears to be holding up well. There aren't any runs, snags, loose threads, etc and it has maintained it's shape. The straps do tend to twist after a while of wearing it, however, so keep that in mind.
