Floppy Petticoat
Maybe I expected too much from the Lace Petticoat by Coquette. It was my first petticoat and I wasn't terribly impressed. The lace is coarse so you need to wear leggings or nylons beneath the petticoat. When I wore the petticoat beneath one of my skirts, it really didn't create any puffiness. It's cute and inexpensive... I guess I just expected more.

Pros
Inexpensive, stretchy waistband, cute, variety of colours available.
Cons
lace is coarse, layers are heavy and weigh the skirt down.
The Lace Petticoat by Coquette is available in two sizes: one-size-fits-most and XL. The petticoat is offered in 3 colours: red, white, or black. I purchased the size XL in black. The petticoat can be worn in the bedroom as a lingerie piece or beneath a skirt or dress.
The skirt arrived on a clear plastic hanger and was surrounded by plastic. There was a cardboard tag attached to the skirt that had a few photos of a model wearing the petticoat and stated the company name, company website, product name, size, and colour. The included hanger would be excellent to use for storing the item when it’s not being worn.
The skirt is 100% polyester. The waistband is stretchy but the lace material is not. There are 3 black, plastic snap closures at the back top of the petticoat. The snaps are 3/8 of an inch away from each other. The measurements below are with the snaps done up (all three are snapped closed) and the skirt is laying flat, unstretched. If you need additional measurements, let me know and I will get them for you.
Waistband unstretched: 16 ½ inches
Waistband stretched as much as I could: 27 ½ inches
Length of petticoat: 14 inches
Beneath the waistband, there is a single layer of floral patterned lace. This part of the petticoat is approximately 3 ½ inches in length and goes all the way around the skirt. Beneath this area is where the layered lace begins. This part of the skirt is approximately 10 inches in length. There are a total of 2 layers and both layers are the same length. The bottom portion of each layer is a lace ruffle trim. The trim makes up 2 ½ inches of the 10.
As I had mentioned, the petticoat can be worn in public beneath a skirt or dress, or it can be worn in the bedroom. I had never owned a petticoat before so I didn’t really know what I was going to do with it. All I knew is that I liked the look, the price was good, and I wanted to try it. I figured that I’d decide whether or not I’d wear it out once I had tried it on.
The XL is actually OS/XL. There are a few minor differences between the two on the Coquette size chart. The chart states that the OS/XL is best suited for those between the weights of 170-200lbs and with a hip measurement between 42-50 inches. I’m just a smidge below the weight bracket and my hip measurement is 41 inches. I usually go with the XL instead of one-size because usually the OSFM are too tight on me.
With the petticoat, the waistband seems to be a bit loose on me. This is one of the very rare cases of where I should have probably gone with the OSFM. There was lots of extra room in the petticoat to stretch if you need the width. I think one of the reasons why the waistband seemed a bit loose on me was because the weight of the lace layers weighs down the skirt.
I went to find a skirt that I could wear overtop of the petticoat. Most of the skirts I own are long or are already naturally puffy. The only skirt I could find was really crinkled so you’ll have to excuse that in the photos. Below are a few photos. The first shows the skirt with no petticoat beneath it. The second is with the petticoat beneath it and the third is with the lace trim sticking out the bottom.
I didn’t find that the petticoat really made my skirt puffy. Or at least it didn’t look like what I had imagined. If I were to wear the petticoat beneath a skirt or dress out in public, it would only be to have the lace trim poking out the bottom. The weight of the lace layers to the petticoat really weighs the material down. Rather than going puffy, they seem to just flop downwards.

Experience
...continued
I tried the petticoat on for bedroom use and I prefer it for this use. The problem with wearing the skirt in the bedroom (for me) is that if you’re not wearing nylons or leggings, the lace will be rubbing against the skin. It can get irritating after awhile. The lace is a bit coarse. I can tolerate it for a little while, but I wouldn’t want to wear the skirt for long periods of time without something between the skirt and my bare legs. The care tag states that the petticoat should be hand washed and I assume line dried.
Overall, the petticoat is okay. I wouldn’t recommend it as a piece to wear beneath a skirt to add any “puff” to it but it works well for a bedroom piece. I’ve deducted two stars from the rating for the coarse lace. I wouldn’t recommend the skirt unless you’re wearing a pair of leggings or similar item beneath it.

Very nice review c: I have to agree with a previous commenter it def. seems more for looks than usefulness as an actual petticoat.

I'm disappointed that this petticoat did not go through for you, but for the price I suppose that's not to shocking. Thanks for the honest review, it was very helpful.
