Feminine and Pretty... But What's Up With The Elastic Band Bottom?
The La Vie En Rose Bustier by Seven 'til Midnight is absolutely beautiful. I own both colour combinations and I feel so pretty wearing them! The one and only problem I had with the bustier is that there is an elastic band around the bottom of it. The shirred panel would hide a larger tummy if it weren't for the elastic band. The elastic actually seems to highlight my pudge rather than hide it...

Pros
gorgeous, feminine, detachable and adjustable garters and shoulder straps, inexpensive, stretchy
Cons
elastic band all the way around the bottom of the bustier, no larger sizes, runs a bit small.
I’d like to begin by mentioning that I own both colour options of this bustier, the black/pink, as well as the red one, and I did not receive a thong with either of them. I personally don’t care because I bought the bustiers to wear out in public, but I wanted to mention this so that it is clear why I do not have measurements of the thong available.
When I had seen the La Vie En Rose bustier, I fell in love. I love wearing bustiers and corsets out in public under a black cardigan (as long as they are not sheer or too revealing of course). I couldn’t decide between the two gorgeous colour options, so I bought both. This review will have photos of the red one. I purchased the bustier in size XL, but it is also available in sizes S-L.
The bustier is packaged in a sturdy plastic bag with a plastic snap closure. The plastic bag is on a hanger. There is a cardboard insert inside of the bag that has an image of a model wearing the bustier, and states the company name, product name, size, and colour. The bag could be kept to store the bustier in when it is not being worn, or it could be kept to store other items in. The bustier comes with detachable shoulder straps, garters and a thong (though I did not receive the thong for some reason).
I’ve taken measurements of the bustier lying flat, unstretched. The bustier was done up in the first row of eye closures (loosest fit). If you need additional measurements, please feel free to send me a message and I can get them for you.

Detachable, Adjustable Garter Straps

Bustier
Bustier length (excluding ruffle): 14 ¼ inches
Ruffle at bottom of bustier: 2 inches
Bottom of bustier width (above ruffle): 12 ½ inches
Chest (armpit to armpit): 15 inches
Cup width: 8 ¼ inches
Cup length: 6 inches
Shirred panel down the centre front of the bustier width: 6 inches
Back length (down centre): 12 inches
The bustier is made of 92% polyester and 8% spandex. The ruffle trim is mesh. The material is extremely stretchy in both the front, and the back of the bustier. I did notice when wearing the bustier that the more it is stretched, the more see-through the back of the bustier becomes.
The bustier does up with 17 hook and eye closures down the centre back of the bustier. There are 3 rows of eye closures with a ½ inch distance between them. Usually when I order a bustier or corset in a size XL, I have to do the closures up on the tightest fit. With this bustier, I have to have it on the loosest fit; so do keep in mind that it does run a bit smaller. I would recommend ordering your size, rather than a size down like most corsets/bustiers require. Below is a photo of the hook and eye closures in the back.
I was able to do the bustier up by wearing it backwards as I did up the hook and eyes, and then turn it around once the closures were done up. When I was wearing the bustier, I noticed that a few of the hooks popped out of the eye closures, which was a tad bit annoying, but I believe this is because of the elastic band bottom.
The bottom of the bustier (above the ruffle trim) has an elastic band. The elastic band is really the only thing that bothers me about this bustier. Below you can see a photo of the bottom of the corset where the elastic band is located.

Experience
...continued
The elastic band goes all the way around the bustier. This bothers me because I like to have the bustier sitting a bit over my pants (when I wear them out in public), but the elastic makes it look ridiculous when I try and pull the bustier down a bit further. Also, it makes for a much less flattering mid-section on me. Another problem with the elastic band is that the ruffle trim is attached to it. The more you need to stretch the bottom of the bustier, the less the ruffle trim looks ruffly. Instead, the ruffle trim just looks like a mesh piece of material draping off the bottom of the bustier. This shouldn’t be a problem for those with smaller hips, but for those of us with bigger hips, you’ve been warned!
The chest area of the bustier is lovely. It has a light padding in the chest, as well as underwire, so you do not need to wear a bra with it. The material of the entire bustier is really comfortable. I did not experience any issues with the material irritating my skin at all, and I’ve worn the bustier a few times now. One thing that is important to note is that there is NO boning at all in this bustier. The product page says there is plastic boning, but there is not one single boning piece in either of the bustiers I received.
To care for the bustier, the tag says that the product should be hand washed in cold water and line dried. It also should not be bleached or ironed.
Overall I am happy with the bustier. I love the floral pattern, the ruffles and bows, the bright colours, and the fact that there is underwire and padding in the chest. I’ve decided to give the bustier a 4 out of 5 rating. The reason the bustier loses a star is because the elastic band at the bottom; I really cannot stand it.
Below you can see a few photos of me wearing the bustier. The first photo is a front view, second is the side, third is the back, and fourth is the way I would wear the bustier out in public. In the second and third photo, you can see how the material on the back of the bustier becomes more see-through when it is stretched. In the first and fourth photo, you can see how the elastic band looks when the bustier is being worn. The shirred panel down the front of the bustier would really hide my belly, if it weren’t for that dang elastic band, which I think actually highlights my potbelly.

You're welcome Forever17 : )

Thanks for the review on the XL. This is really cute, but my boobs would never fit, and even if they did, that elastic band sounds like a serious design flaw.

It really is Petite, I would have liked it better without!
