Caught in a Bad Romance
The Bad Romance Chemise is a sexy garment to wear to bed on those nights when you want to look nice but not pull out all the bells and whistles. With a lovely fuchsia coloring and black lace detail to contrast it the Bad Romance is a nice item. But if you're looking for something that will stay still or last you awhile this might not be the chemise for you.

Overview
My choice to request the Bad Romance Chemise by Escante as my monthly assignment had several factors come into consideration. The first was that I missed the Coquette Darque Collection train. Secondly I primarily wanted this as something to sleep in that was just for my own enjoyment. All in all I’m almost completely happy with this chemise, but more on that later.
Material and Texture
Chemise
The Chemise is 90% Nylon and 10% Elastane aka Spandex. There is also lace trim located at the bottom of the garment and detailing the bosom. This lace isn’t particularly soft but since it hardly touches the skin it’s not much to worry about. The elastane makes up the black, stretchy portion of the chemise which can be found running along the upper portion of this piece. It circles around the breasts, upper back, and straps allowing for some stretch should one need it. As for the nylon it can be found in the fuchsia segment of the chemise meaning it is the most prominent part of this garment. All in all the material is okay. It’s not silky soft nylon and instead feels more like polyester but it supports ones lady parts fairly well so I wouldn’t hold too much against it.
G-String
I gotta admit I ripped the giant tag off the g-string when I washed it. Here’s what I can tell you: this is made up of Nylon, Elastane, and Cotton. Since this is a matching panty the nylon is the same fuchsia color as the chemise and account for the triangular part of the g-string. In terms of fabric ratios I find that there is a higher percentage of elastane on the g-string then the chemise. It lines all around the nylon, rounds the hips, and goes up the butt. As for the cotton this is located inside making for a cotton crotch lining, this is a great feature as bacteria can fester in non-cotton linings.
Design and Craftsmanship
Chemise
Starting at the top let me point out that this chemise is not lined nor does it have padding or underwire. However, the material was secure enough that I didn’t have any problems with drooping boobs. The front of the bust does have a little black bow at the center and black lace detail that seems like an attempt at being floral then actually floral. Around the back there are two straps that criss-cross in the middle, they’re not removable but they are adjustable. This design leads to a slight dip in the back that is teasing but not prominent. At the bottom there are four slits accentuated by the same black lace detail as the bosom as well as tiny black bows. The lace goes out at the bottom leading into a trim that looks like tiny flowers. This same lace heads up to meet the bows at the slit but is not secured past a certain point. Some of the lace folds for this reason but it is not something overly noticeable. The same thing happens at the breasts.
In terms of overall quality this isn’t the best. I was able to find loose threads and uneven stitching within the garment as soon as I pulled it out of the packaging. Two of the lace slits are already unraveling a bit which leads me to believe that the follow up review for this won’t hold good news.
G-String
The g-string is very simple only matching the chemise in terms of color but with no lace attached. What you end up with is a fuchsia triangle front and black back. The one complaint I have about this is that the part that aligns the material at the hips with the ‘string’ that goes up the butt isn’t secured. Instead the two are allowed to slide and wobble about making it easy for them to get tangled and misaligned. Good luck if you throw this in the wash.
Packaging and Cleaning
Escante sends this set wrapped in a cloudy bag that looks similar to a trash bag. Inside, resting on a plastic hanger is the Bad Romance Chemise and G-String. Escante recommends putting this in the washing machine on warm. Do not wring or twist, line dry only, and if you are going to iron this set do so on a low setting. Since the inside craftsmandship isn’t exactly up to snuff I wouldn’t throw this in the machine. If you do you might risk having to re-stitch the slits in the near future. I have found that it’s okay to wring and twist the chemise. Also, after wringing and leaving it out to dry there were no wrinkles and should be no need to iron.

Escante Size Chart
The Bad Romance Chemise is available here on Eden in sizes S-L, as with most of my Escante items I chose the medium. This fit me perfectly, accommodating my entire body comfortably and sliding down mid-thigh. There is something I should share about the sizing however. Now I don’t know what the fraggle rock Escante was thinking when they made their size chart but according to them my bust and waist would be a medium while my hips are supposed to best fit an extra large. As you can imagine this is quite a difference in sizing. I went with the measurements for the bust and waist deciding this would stretch especially since I’ve never had problems before. I would recommend unless you strongly believe there is a difference between the measurements of your body that need to accommodate the hips to just go with what’s best for the majority of your body parts. Chances are the fabric will stretch or the manufacturer just got it a bit wrong.

What I wasn’t so fond of
I have a feeling that for a lot of folks the criss-crossed straps are going to be an issue. They bothered me a bit while trying to sleep but I was able to get used to them. I don’t know if that’ll be the case for everyone. What I really wasn’t happy with was the overall quality of this garment. I can forgive the fringing along the slits of the chemise which suggest this piece isn’t going to last very long even if well cared for. But why does it have to ride up. Even when I was standing, having just flattened the chemise the material still rode up under the bust leaving ripples that almost mimicked imaginary underwire. I would really like to know how the model is managing not to show that, Photoshop perhaps?
What I liked
Once I got over the fact that this took up residence on my waist while laying in bed after its journey upwards I noticed how comfy the Bad Romance Chemise is. When it’s not ridding up the material is soft but supportive. My breasts stayed put but didn’t feel confined, I was able to adjust the straps properly then sleep like a baby. I will definitely wear this sexy item to bed again. As for the aesthetics; the color of this garment is so much prettier in person then the product page suggests. When I pulled this out of the mailing box I couldn’t help oooing and ahhing over the color. Even the g-string caught my attention and I was eager to wear it. Something that doesn’t happen too often.
