Bum Cheek Pirate #2
The Pirate Wench costume by DreamGirl is my second bum cheek pirate outfit. I'm 5'6 and my bum cheeks are exposed when I wear this outfit. If you are my height or taller, the outfit would look nice with a pair of leggings. It's comfortable and cute, I just wish it had more length to it.

Pros
5 pieces, cute, comfortable material, stretchy, lacing on cuffs and corset for size adjustment.
Cons
too short in length (for me), only available in size large.
The Pirate Wench costume by DreamGirl is available only in size large right now. Typically I wear a size XL comfortably but I was hoping I could squeeze myself into this costume. I just loved the outfit when I first seen the stock photo! I previously reviewed another pirate outfit by DreamGirl but it was a bit too short for me to wear to costume parties.
The outfit arrived in a durable plastic bag on a hanger. The bag has a snap closure on the backside. The cardboard insert in the bag states the company name, product name, included contents, size, weight bracket suggested for size, company contact information, and company website. The bag that the costume came in is great for storing stockings, panties, etc. I don’t use the bag for storing the outfit because I prefer keeping mine in my closet or folded on a shelf. The packaging can be recycled.
Inside of the bag the dress and corset piece is wrapped around a thin piece of cardboard, the sword is in its own baggy, and the hat and purse are in another baggy. The packaging states that the size large is best suited for those in the weight bracket 140-160lbs. I’m slightly above the highest number in that weight bracket.
The dress is 100% polyester and has quite a bit of stretch to it. The corset piece has quite a bit of stretch, and the headscarf has little stretch. I’ve taken measurements of the outfit laying flat, unstretched. If you need additional measurements please send me a message and I can get them for you.
Scarf
Length: 60 inches
Width: 4 ½ inches
Corset Piece
Length down centre front: 8 ½ inches
Length down centre back: 7 ¼ inches
Width: 25 ½ inches
Dress
Chest (armpit to armpit): 17 inches
Width beneath chest: 14 inches
Width of waist (where ruffle skirt begins): 16 inches
Length of dress (armpit to bottom): 21 inches
Skirt length: 9 ½ inches
The scarf is black in colour with a silver skull and cross bones at the centre of it. I’m usually not fond of wearing skull apparel but this skull is smiling so it’s actually sort of cute. There is a generous length (see measurements above) to the headscarf so it really is a one-size-fits-all. I prefer this headscarf to the one I received with my other pirate costume because this one actually has a picture on it (rather than just being a long, black piece of fabric).
The corset piece that goes around your waist has a zipper closure at the centre back of the piece. The measurement I had taken above of this piece was how it arrived. The piece arrived with the lacing tied down the centre front with a ¾ inch gap. Basically what this means is that you could tighten it ¾ inches more than the measurements above. There is also a bit of extra lace if you need to add width to corset. If the lace provided is not long enough for the width you need, you could replace it with a longer piece of ribbon that you have at home. Being a size XL trying to fit into a size large outfit, I had to really loosen the lacing as much as I could so that it would fit me. There are 4 plastic boning pieces in this corset. They’re very flexible so they are not useful if you’re looking for shaping.
The dress can be worn on or off of the shoulders. The top of the dress is elastic band so it can be stretched to sit off of the shoulder regardless of width. Above the elastic, the material is ruffled looking, but the more you need to stretch this elastic, the less ruffled it looks. Sadly, there is no underwire or padding in the chest. The material is rather thin so if you were to wear the outfit without a bra or pasties, your nipple outline will show through the material. My C cups fit nicely in the chest area and a size or two larger than me should fit fine also because of the stretchy material at the top.
There are slits down the sleeves from the shoulder down the arm. The slits are approximately 14 inches in length. At the bottom of each sleeve, there is a 7 ½ inch long cuff. Each cuff has 2 black panels with lacing running through it. Beneath the chest area of the dress, there is an elastic band on the inside of the costume. The skirt part of the dress is 3 tiered ruffles. The dress is not sheer even when it is stretched.

Experience

As for the length of the dress, I’m 5’6 and when I wear this dress the bottom of my bum cheeks show. My bum cheeks show when I wear the top part of the dress off my shoulders. As I walked/moved around, the elastic area of the top of the dress started creeping up my shoulders. The more the top of the dress creeped up, the more bum cheek was exposed. Eventually after about 15 minutes, my entire bum was revealed. I’m rather disappointed in this because I wanted to wear this to a costume party with fishnet stockings. I could wear the outfit with leggings, but I had other plans for it.
The purse (or pouch) is black in colour with the words “Pirate Booty” and a dollar sign on it in the colour silver. The pouch has a drawstring at the top of it to close the pouch. With the drawstring open, the pouch measures 8 ½ inches wide and 5 ½ inches long. The pouch is not padded.
The included sword is something you could find at your local dollar store. It’s a plastic, flimsy sword. It’s a cute accessory but when I hold the sword up, the sword piece wobbles from side to side because it’s not as secure as it should be to the handle piece. I own a glue gun so it’s not a huge deal, but it would have been nice if it were better quality. The handle to the sword is a copper and black colour and the sword piece is grey. On the sword piece, there is a picture of a skull and 2 swords crossing. The sword and handle together is approximately 12 ½ inches in length.
The outfit material is extremely comfortable against the skin. I don’t have any complaints about the material. The one thing I did notice though was that the metal grommets on the cuffs of the dress did rub a bit against my skin. It wasn’t really irritating but it was noticeable. The care tag states that the outfit should be hand washed in cold water and line dried.
Overall, I really love this outfit. I wish there was a bit more length to it so I could wear fishnet stockings with it without my entire bum being exposed. I’ve given the outfit a 4 out of 5 rating because it’s comfortable, stretchy, looks good on, and the pieces can be mix and matched. I’ve deducted the one star because it’s so darn short. It’s also a shame that it is only available in size large.
