A school girl should be two things: classy and fabulous. (XL)
I was thrilled with the quality of the materials in this item, but overall, it was kind of a letdown. This items biggest flaw is its awkward bust fit due to lack of underwire. It's second biggest flaw is HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO GET ON.
Published:
Pros
Quality material, Adjustable/removable garters and straps, Removable bow
Cons
DIFFICULT TO PUT ON, No underwire, Lack of adjustability, Buckling, Weird fit in bust, Unflattering
I ordered this bustier with no intentions of wearing it in the bedroom. Hence, this shall be my first review that includes my good friend, pants. I'm sure all of you wonderful people are excited to know that you'll be reading a review of mine without being subjected to my pale, flat ass. Moving on...
The packaging was simple enough. It came inside one of those plastic hanger-bags with the snaps.
Included is the bustier (of course), four detachable garters, two detachable shoulder straps, and one detachable bow.
This piece is only one layer of fabric thick. The plaid material (polyester) is very thick and durable and non-itchy and feels very high quality and has ZERO STRETCH. The black fabric on the back (also polyester) is thin and only has a little stretch. This means, obviously, that this will only fit really well on a very small range of people. Sadly, I am not in this blessed range (I will talk about this range later), but I have pics of me wearing it anyway.
Everything in this picture is in order and is (I hope) self-explanatory.
What do you get when you have a garment that is supposed to be tight-fitting, has almost no stretch, and has 19 hook-and-eye closures that go down the back (which is the only way to get it on)? You get a garment that is almost impossible to put on by your lonesome. There's a little elaboration on that in the experience section. Oh, the humanity.
The patch is adorable. That's all I have to say about that.
I didn't say this before, but although the plaid has no stretch, the trim on the top and bottom has a little bit. The trim can't stretch to *quite* as wide as the material, so there is an odd "bubbling" effect on both the top and bottom of the piece. You can judge for yourselves how bad it is in the pics of me wearing it.
Okay, so here are the measurements that this garment supposedly fits:
Coquette XL:
Size 14-16
Cup D
Bust 42-44
Waist 34-36
Hips 44-46
Me:
Size 16
Cup C
Bust 42
Waist 32
Hips 42
So my waist and hips and cup size are a little "small".
In my experience, clothing has a little give in either direction of the size chart. It would seem that is not the case here.
According to my measurements, this will not fit someone who does not fit the following criteria:
Cups C or D
Underbust 36-38
Waist 34-36 inches or it WILL be too loose/too tight
Hips 42-44
Additionally, because of the nature of the fabric, for optimum fit you would want all the numbers to be on one side of the above redone measurements or the other. For example, approx. 36underbust/34waist/40hips for the tighter set of hooks or approx. 38underbust/36waist/44hips for the looser set of hooks.
I'm not really having a fat day or anything, but you may notice in my other reviews that I do actually have a waist. The lack of adjustablity in this piece means that, unless you are exactly the same shape as this thing, it won't do you any favors.
Also, the bust is really unflattering. it traps your breasts into this tube-shaped space and the fabric on either side of the breasts can't stay down because THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE CUPS WITHOUT HAVING UNDERWIRE.
It is what it is.
I wish that this garment would fit me in a pleasing way, as it is surprisingly comfortable, and the fabric is very nice... but I suppose you can't win 'em all. This could've been a much nicer piece if the back fabric was stretchy and the cups were either not there or had underwire.
As one might expect, the instructions on this say to hand wash only and hang dry. Oh, what lengths we lady-folk go through so we can wear pretty things.

Experience
This is the single most difficult piece of clothing I have ever had to put on in my life. I often put on my own corsets and all manner of uncooperative items, but this is just...gahhhhh. I did manage to put it on myself, with great difficulty and the most unappealing shimmy/dance that the world has ever known (putting it on backwards and turning it around), but I would never be able to get it around with the hooks on the tighter setting.
If anyone can figure out how to put this on without causing mental anguish to themselves and their mirror, then surely you are a sorceress and I shall seek an apprenticeship with you.

Follow-up commentary
2 days after original review
This morning, I was ready to say that I was starting to like this more.
A lot has changed since this morning.
Thanks to a tip from a fellow Edenite, I was able to get this on the tighter set of hooks. Hence, it fit better, and I liked it enough to leave my house in it.....HOWEVER, by the time I got home (only a few hours later), the boning was warped... A LOT. I made up my mind to remove said boning and try to make this top something I could wear.
It turns out, though the overview on the product page clearly says "metal boning," THIS IS NOT THE CASE. It's plastic boning. Some sort of plastic that is especially prone to warping (I've not had this problem before with other plastic boning).
The first picture was taken this morning, before I left. I don't have any pics of the warped monstrosity that was strapped around my body by the time I got home, but the second pic is what I altered this thing into. Even if it doesn't look as sharp as the first pic, it's more comfortable, easier to put on, and doesn't buckle in the back. The third pick is of the ribbons I sewed onto the top to make it a halter.
