Tightening Gel? More Like Fire in Your Vagina Gel

Reverse Tightening Gel does not work as it claims to, by hydrating the vaginal area to restore tightness. Instead, it feels like someone stuck a lit match up my vagina. The ingredients listed on the back are known for being extremely toxic to humans and are also known for being extremely irritating. The only thing that's really going for this product is the fact that it's 100% made in USA.

extremely useful review
Sometimes I get assignments for products I’m not all terribly too interested in, which I just decline. When I received the assignment for the Reverse Tightening Gel, I felt that I didn’t really need it, but I’d do a review on it anyway. I really wish I had clicked to decline the assignment.

Reverse Tightening Gel, by Doc Johnson, comes in a 2 ounce plastic tube. The tube and the plastic cap are metallic gray. The tube has a dark pink background on the front, and dark pink text on the back. On the front of the tube, the product claims to, “restore, rejuvenate, and reverse by hydrating the interior walls of the vagina.” On the back, instructions are to massage a pea-sized amount of gel into the vaginal area. This product is supposed to tingle a lot. Instructions state to discontinue use if the tingling sensation is unpleasant.

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Ginger Root Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Piper Nigrum (Pepper) Resin, Cinnamonum Cassia Resin, Capsicum Frutescens Resin, Capsicum Annuum Resin, Butylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Propanediol, Sucralose, Diazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate

As you can see, this is probably one of the worst ingredient lists ever. Right off the bat, the second largest ingredient in this is glycerin, which is known to cause irritation and yeast infections in women. Hydroxyethylcellulose is a thickening or gelling agent used commonly with cosmetics. Ginger Root Extract is common in vitamins, as it aids with high blood pressure, digestion, and has anti-inflammatory properties. I could not find anything on topical uses of ginger root. Piper Nigrum Resin is basically ground black pepper. Again, I couldn’t find any information on anything other than ingesting this, which is harmless for that purpose. Cinnamonum Cassia Resin is apparently used with aromatherapy. Capsicum Frutescens Resin is derived from the plant of hot peppers and is approved for use by the FDA, as is Capsicum Annuum Resin. Butylene Glycol is listed as being highly irritant, especially to the eyes and lungs. Polysorbate 20 is the ingredient used in this product to help spread the tingly feeling. Propanediol is used with antifreeze for cars, and apparently in cosmetics as well, even though it absorbs through the skin with harmful effects. Sucralose is basically sugar. Diazolidinyl Urea is a preservative that is a known toxicant for the human immune system. The amount used in different products is severely limited because of this. Sodium Benzoate is a natural preservative found in many fruits. Potassium Sorbate is used to prohibit mold and yeast growth in foods like cheeses and yogurts.

As a summary, this includes ingredients that are toxic to the body, very irritating to the skin and body, and ingredients that may give the woman using this tightening gel a pretty bad yeast infection. Not to mention the hot pepper resin, which is what I feel caused my reaction to this product. Not listed in the ingredients is peppermint or peppermint oil, which is commonly used to create a tingling sensation. Peppermint can be used safely in plenty of medical products, as well as foods and beverages. Why didn’t they use this to create the tingling sensation?

Anyway, on to the actual feel and consistency of the product. This tingling gel has a pretty thick feel to it, almost like hair gel. It’s not sticky feeling to me, and is pretty easy to spread. It is a little difficult to squirt out of the bottle, since it’s so thick. It feels pretty similar to water based lube. There is a chemical odor to this that is not present right out of the bottle. Just smelling over the opening in the bottle, there’s no scent. Getting this out on my hands, I could smell chemicals pretty strongly. I did not, and will not, taste this product.

I followed the instructions on the bottle, squeezing out a pea-sized amount, and attempted to massage it in. What followed was probably the worst burning sensation I have ever felt. It is probably the same sensation men feel when they rub Icy Hot on their junk. I immediately started to cry and ran into the bathroom to wash this off. It took probably about 10 minutes of rubbing a lukewarm washcloth and some baby wipes around my vaginal area to get this off. Afterwards, I felt VERY chapped and dry where this gel had sat on my body. That wasn’t from washing, as I washed myself pretty gently. I found it very difficult to sit down, because of how sore I was. This was not a tingling sensation in any way, it was straight up burning.

Experience
I cleaned this off pretty easily with lukewarm water on a washcloth and some baby wipes. Once the product was off of my body, I didn’t feel any burning sensations. After one day, I’m feeling much better. This is a clear gel, so it washed off of my white washcloths without leaving any stains.

To store this, I’m going to toss it in the trash. If you do actually buy and enjoy this product, it can be stored however you want. The bottle doesn’t leak or anything, even if it is left lying on its side. The bottle is somewhat discreet, especially since tightening gel could mean something like an anti-wrinkle gel or something.

I do not recommend this product to anyone, especially those with sensitive skin. I don’t know why I accepted this assignment, especially since I felt the product looked pretty stupid before I even received it. I doubt a gel could do anything to tighten the vaginal walls. If you are looking for something that will build your PC muscles and make you feel stronger, look at vaginal balls. Those do have an effect similar to tightening, just by strengthening muscles. They also do not burn when they are inserted.
Follow-up commentary
Well, it's been a couple of weeks since my initial review. I was a little worried that I would get some sort of infection from the tightening gel, but I haven't. I'm pretty sure that I'm safe now. I have been having some pain during sex, though I am not sure if it is related to using this gel or not. I do know I haven't had this kind of pain before.

Thanks for this! I was a little interested but now? No way! I've gotten Icy Hot in me before and it was AWFUL. I'll pass on anything similar.

"To store this I'll toss it in the trash." LOL!

Ginger and capsicum inserted in your vagina???? WTF were they thinking??? Sounds like it should be named masochist gel.
  • Contributor: darthkitt3n
Peggi, no, I'm perfectly fine. I had a couple of the symptoms of a UTI for a few days, but it went away.
