Thick And Slick Does The Trick

If you are looking for a nice, non-drip lube that stays put for anal adventures, this is a great choice. It cleans up easily with warm water and/or soap, and it doesn't feel very greasy at all. It is also safe to use with condoms but not safe for silicone toys.

Use

Doc's anal lube is great for, you guessed it, anal. It has a very thick consistency which makes for great anal play. It's not overly messy and stays right where you put it. This lube is safe for use with condoms but not safe for use with silicone toys as it does contain silicone. Whether you are starting out with anal or a seasoned anal aficionado, this lube will please you for long lasting sessions. Be wary of allergic reactions when using as it does contain glycerin, which may give you a bad reaction if used vaginally.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This anal lube is extremely thick. It reminds me of petroleum jelly only a bit thicker. It's not sticky at all and is very smooth. It does feel a bit greasy to the touch. That being said, it's not actually a greasy product. It will leave stains on your sheets but it washes out completely. At first, it was very hard to get going in the pump bottle, and I almost gave up on it thinking it was a defective bottle or something. When I finally pumped it out onto my hand, there was no way this stuff was going anywhere! It's so thick that it stays exactly where you put it. It tends to get a little thinner with added warmth from your body, but it still doesn't drip.

Taste / Aroma

There is a slight smell to this lube, but it's not very noticeable unless you smell it right up close. It's a hard to describe smell; the closest thing I can think of is woody. I think it's possibly from the almond glycerides found in the ingredients list, but don't quote me on that. Doc's anal lube has a definite taste to it. It is sweet with a tang that makes your tongue feel slightly tingly. This is not a pleasant taste by any means, and I would not use this lube for oral. Not only would it taste bad, but it's so thick that it might get in your teeth. You might be left swallowing chucks of lube. This doesn't sound very pleasant to me!

Performance

Due to the thick viscosity of this stuff, it lasts a really long time. I didn't need to reapply it for about 20 minutes or so. It can be a bit messy if you use too much, so use sparingly. A little goes a long way with this lubricant. I made the mistake of using a bit too much, and it was all over the place. It was on my hands, on the bottle, the sheets, and of course on my bum. It makes insertion very easy, so use caution if you are using something bigger than you are used to. As always, ease yourself with the toy or penis very slowly to avoid tearing. Tearing is very unpleasant and with certain ingredients in this lube, you should avoid using it on inflamed or damaged skin.

When it came time to wash it off, warm water did the trick nicely. In fact, the hotter the water, the easier it is to clean off of you. For this reason, Doc's anal lube is also good for shower fun. It takes a while for it to melt completely so you don't have to reapply is as often as a water-based lube. This stuff is also safe to use with condoms, making it a great lube for safe sex. The only thing you should be concerned about is that it does contain glycerin which can irritate vaginas. It doesn't contain parabens but it does contain silicone, so use with silicone toys is not recommended, unless you test it first. I have not tested it on my silicone toys as I am too afraid it will disintegrate them.

Packaging

Oh Doc's anal lube, you are so not discreet whatsoever. As you can see from the picture, this bottle screams ANAL. If you are concerned about someone finding this, you can just peel off the blatantly obvious labels. This will leave you with a plain white pump bottle which could be any sort of ointment or cosmetics really. Who knows eh? Maybe it's a soap bottle or shoe polish of sorts? I would recommend doing this for travel if you have to have your luggage checked. Personally, I would just laugh if it was found, but you may not be as liberal as I am. There are no instructions on the bottle, but it's pretty self-explanatory from the name. There is also mention of it being water soluble, condom safe, and long-lasting. This is a hard, white plastic bottle that I do not believe is recyclable.

The ingredients listed on the bottle are as follows: Glycerin, Behenyl Betain, Stearamine Oxide, Isopropyl Myristate, PEG-20 Almond Glycerides, Silicone Antifoam Compound.

Experience

When I set out to buy an anal lube for my anal fun, I was met with a bunch of options. I decided on this one because it's quite a bit of lube for a good price. I also liked the fact that it boasts no spill and no mess. I did find it to be messy however, as I used a bit too much the first time around. I used it to help me insert an anal toy that was bigger than I am used to, and it went in with ease. I found it almost went in too easy. I had to be extra careful when I inserted the toy so my anus wouldn't tear. All in all, I am very happy with the product. I won't be using it for anything but anal as it's so thick that I don't think it would feel like my own real lube for vaginal intercourse. For that I prefer Liquid Silk or a thinner water-based lube.

Good review. I HATE the label. It looks so freaking cheesy.

How does it work in the shower?
    Sound like a good lube.
  • Contributor: Coralbell
Wow, it's thicker than petroleum jelly? That sounds like it would be too thick.

Excellent review! I'm with Zen on the label though. That might be why I overlooked it before.

I wonder how much silicone and what type is in there. If it's just an anti-foam agent it might be safe with silicone toys. Did you try to get in touch with D-J?

Wow, I never knew silicone lube could be this thick. I'll have to consider this next time. Great review, thanks.

Thanks Shums, ZenaidaMacroura, ~LaUr3n~, and Kindred.
Ha I agree about the label. Best to peel it off eh?

Dwtim, you would need to reapply it but not as often as a strictly water-based lube.

    Coralbell, yeah it's really thick.

ScottA, my label was different than the one on the Eden product page but on there it says Dimethicone. I think they have changed the label and the product page one is older. I didn't get in touch with them no, but I like to err on the side of caution anyway. I did mention that you can test it on the toys but that I am too afraid to do it with mine.

Silicone doesn't seem good for a lot of my toys. Thanks for the review!
