Sour Chocolate
Flavored lubricant, why must you disappoint me so?! With one smell, I feel gag-ish. With one taste, I cringe. The bottle for this lubricant may say great taste, no aftertaste, and never sticky, but it's all rubbish. With parabens and glycerin as two of the only (and therefore major) ingredients, giving this lube one star is almost generous.

As I'm writing this review, I'm starting to think that I should have listed the small bottle as a pro considering how awful this product is. JO H2O Chocolate Flavored Lubricant makes me gag. There's really no way around the bluntness of that statement. That being said, the other flavors MUST be better because this product has an average of 4 stars, which is what sold the idea of chocolate flavored lube to me in the first place. I was relieved to see a 1 ounce bottle because I consider it more of a sample size and a good size for those who are unsure if they like the product.
This lubricant is intended to be used as an oral and regular lubricant. I never did understand the use of flavored lubes for vaginal or anal sex. It just doesn't make sense to me to stick anything flavored near my "business." Plus, I imagine that the smell wafting up is a little bit of a distraction...especially if you aren't staying in for the day/night after. Then, there is the fact that this is a water-based lube, which would make it less than ideal for anal anyway. That being said, I would consider the primary use for a flavored lube to be oral sex enhancement. This lubricant is going to fail for me in that way. It offers up a burnt chocolate smell with a somewhat chocolate yet sour taste. In addition to the sour chocolate taste, there is a kind of cheap chocolate aftertaste (think Palmer). Finally, although this lubricant is water-based, actual cleanup won't just consist of washing it off with water. While the slickness of the lubricant does wash off, the smell sticks. In fact, it stuck through not one, but two washes with soap and water.
As for how this lubricant feels, it is thinner than I expected. I opened the bottle and went to pour a small amount and was surprised when it gushed out all over my hand, foot, and carpet. This isn't exactly something you want with such a small bottle because if you actually like the product, it just isn't going to stretch through many uses. In addition to being thin, this lubricant can get rather sticky.
As far as my body's reaction to it, just for reviewing purposes, I actually decided to truly test this lube despite the smell and taste. I have no sensitivities really, so I didn't notice any irritation, but I did notice both parabens and glycerin are on the ingredient list. For this reason alone, other consumers may skip this purchase.
The bottle:
This product comes in a white, gray, and brown bottle. Though it doesn't necessarily sound attractive, I find the look to be rather appealing, especially with the picture of chocolate on the front. The bottle boasts all kinds of things about a great taste and lack of aftertaste. It promises the product will never be sticky, will feel smooth, and is like silicone. Basically, it tells you what the intentions for the product were...not what the product is actually like. It is non staining though...my carpet can vouch for that. The ingredients list is fairly short and is as follows: (INCI) Propyl Paraben, Methyl Paraben, Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose, Glycerin, Purified Water, and Chocolate Flavor (Aroma). I'm always happy to see a short list of ingredients, but this just isn't the case with this product. The parabens have been linked with cancer in some studies, and glycerin causes infections for some. Finally, the flip-top cap is kind of typical for lubricants, but this bottle doesn't have a non-slip grip nor can it be used one-handed. It will be difficult to squeeze out the last drops (once again, if you actually like this product).

Experience
This is the third flavored lube that I've tried recently, and I've faced some major disappointments with the others as well. That being said, perhaps I just don't like flavored lubes. I just find it hard to believe that Good Head gel is flavored well enough for me to tolerate, while I can't find a lubricant that is. The best of the worst happened to be the Razzles green apple lubricant. Although I don't care for the green apple flavor, I thought it was the truest to flavor. The Wet Body Glide in blueberry as well as this JO Chocolate Delight aren't anything like what I expected. I also notice that many of these flavored lubes are sticky, and that's not something that I can easily tolerate...especially if my partner doesn't shave. I don't want to mentally scar anyone, but imagine a lot of sticky hair in the same vicinity as your face. That being said, I'm open to suggestions on another better flavored and less sticky lubricant!
Follow-up commentary
1 month after original review
I don't use this oral lubricant, yet I can't seem to force myself to throw away almost an entire bottle. Anyone know any alternative non-sexual uses for lube? Maybe I'll see if it can stop my door from squeaking...just joking. Maybe.

Thanks for the review...chocolate as much as I love it, doesn't seem like it would be good on a lube flavor.

I haven't tried the chocolate one yet, but the banana tastes alright. Good luck on your quest to find a good tasting lube! Have you tried any of the Shunga ones?
