Sometimes the original is the best!

If you are looking for a body safe water based lube, take a look at Sliquid H2O. If you have allergies or sensitivities, take a look at Sliquid. Even if you are looking for an anal lube or a silicone lube, take a look at Sliquid. They make a great product.

extremely useful review
After having used CVS purchased lube for a while, namely Vagisil, my wife and I started looking for a nice water based lube for our play. Another website highly recommended Sliquid, so we placed an order for a bottle of their water based version to see if it could live up to the hype. Unfortunately, we received a bottle of their silicone lube, not the water based one. But not to put up a fuss over something like that, and considering it was shipped across the country, we kept that lube and placed a later order for the water based version.

On the side of the bottle, it states that Sliquid H2O is water based and water soluble, glycerine free and fragrance free, hypoallergenic and non-toxic, latex, rubber and plastic friendly, non-staining and unflavored, and uniquely blended to emulate your body's own natural lubrication. Oh yeah, and most importantly, formulated to last longer than most Hollywood marriages. The bottle is clear with a clear pop top and a blue label. It does say intimate lubricant on it, so if left out someone would easily guess its intended purpose. Another nice thing about Sliquid lubes is that each different lube has a different colored label, so it is easy to find whichever one you are looking for. Also, the silicone bottle has a black top on it.

The ingredients of my 3 year old bottle are purified H2O, sorbitol, cellulose, polyquart 007, methyl and propyl paraben. According to Eden's product page and Sliquid's page, it says that this version of their lube is paraben free. However, my bottle does say that it has methyl and propyl paraben in it. Since I have had this lube for over close to 3 years, I would guess that they have slightly changed their formula because the bottle does not say that it is paraben free. Copying information from the Sliquid website, they currently list the ingredients as purified water, plant cellulose (from cotton), cyamopsis (guar conditioners), and potassium sorbate. Another great thing about the ingredients that they use is that they state that "all Sliquid products are formulated by sensitive women, for sensible women, and will never cause yeast infections or UTI's." This is very important to my wife because she is prone to having UTI's.

In use, this lube is great. When we apply it to a condom, it does run down a little bit if you don't rub it in immediately, but it's not horrible like Astroglide (which we threw away very quickly). When we first used our Lelo Ella, my wife commented how on that toy it did not run at all, and it spread very nicely. Just now I squeezed out a drop close to the size of a dime into my hand. When I tilted my hand, it did start to run. However, when I held my hand totally upside down, it did not fall off of my hand. It just hung there, and I held it like that for about 30 seconds. I then rubbed my hands together, and the lube almost completely absorbed into my hand. I could feel the lube a little bit afterwards, and it was not a sticky feeling, but a feeling like I had just applied lotion to that part. I also tasted a small drop, and there was only a very small aftertaste. I cannot comment on how it would taste in a large dose though, since my wife and I do not use it for oral.

During a long play session, my wife and I will probably have to just reapply the lube once. You could also reactivate the lube by adding some water, but we always just reapply it. Since it is water based, you cannot use this in the shower because it will just get washed away. If you do want shower play, look to a silicone lube. In clean up, it is very easy to get off of our toys and our hands with just some water and soap.

The only negative thing I can say about this product is its bottle. The last time we traveled was by car (with the silicone version) and it did leak out of the bottle a little. Luckily, we placed it in a zip-lock bag with the condoms, but there was still a nasty sticky mess on the bottle, and that bottle is still sitting on the bathroom sink away from everything else. We have also traveled before by airplane with one of the two bottles, and it did leak as well. Luckily, airport security did not care about it being 4 oz, because we would have had our lube confiscated. The bottle is recyclable though.
Experience
Summary
In personal use, this is our go-to lube. Unless we know for sure that we are not going to be pulling out any of our toys, we don't use the silicone lube because it would cause a negative side effect with our silicone toys. Having had the two bottles of lubricant for close to 3 years now, the silicone one is still about half full, whereas the water based one has about 1 cm worth left in the bottle. Luckily, I am going to be placing another order with Eden in the next few days, and this is going to be going into that cart.
Follow-up commentary
My wife and I love our Sliquid H2O lube. We only have this, another water based one (which has a very annoying pump top), and the Sliquid Silver. The Sliquid H2O is the only lube we use together. We just opened our second bottle a few weeks ago, and I have no complaints to make. It looks like we will be using this lube for a long long time.

Always looking for a good silicone-safe lube that won't bother Mrs. Peg's lady parts. Will have to give this a try. Thanks for the great review.

    Good review leatherlover! Very thorough.

My Man and I use Sliquid Ride H2O (It's slightly different then Sliquid H2O and only has 4 ingredients) and even after testing half a dozen other lubes, we love Sliquid Ride. It doesn't run, is thick, has no sorbital in it (it's a flavoring) and even holds up for anal play and anal sex! You may want to give it a try.

    Thanks both for the comments.

Mr. and Mrs. Peg, definitely check it out. We both love it, and my wife even requested we re-order it before I told her that I was planning on it.

P'Gell, I haven't heard of Sliquid ride before, I will have to check that out. Thanks. And I didn't think that I would be able to talk that much about a lube, but it turned out to be easy.
