Slip 'n' Slide

Wet Platinum Bodyglide is a decent, fairly priced, thin and slippery, long lasting silicone lube that works well in most situations. It's available in smaller sized bottles which makes it easy to take it for a test drive before investing in a large bottle. Wet Platinum is easy to clean, easily absorbed, and reduces friction without the gel like feel, flaking, grittiness or drying up you can get with water based lubes.

Use

Wet Platinum Bodyglide is an incredibly versatile lube; whether you're using it for vaginal sex, anal sex, sex with toys, sex with fingers, sex with hands, or jerking off, it's got you covered. It's long lasting, holds up decently in water, and provides a nice, slick glide no matter how you use it or what you use it with.

Caution should be taken with toys made of silicone, or realistic flesh-like material (cyberskin, UR3, fantaflesh, etc), however, since it can cause a reaction that may ruin your toy. If you really need to use silicone lube with these types of toys, you should always do a patch test before hand on an unobtrusive part of the toy to be sure how it will react.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is a very thin and slightly runny lube, so it's probably best to be cautious when squirting, squeezing, or pouring it from container to toy or body part; a little goes a long way and haste in application will likely give you far more lube than you'll need. Wet Platinum Bodyglide is slick, slippery, almost oily feeling, yet non-greasy. It reduces a lot of friction, especially with highly textured toys, yet still allows you to feel the texture plainly. It's non-gloppy, never flakes, or gets gritty and rarely needs to be reapplied.

I've found that any remaining residue after use can easily be wiped away with a damp towel, and what remains eventually sinks into the skin; leaving it feeling soft and moisturized. Of course you can always completely remove this lube from both skin and toys with a soap and water wash.

Taste / Aroma

I don't recommend sticking silicone lubes in your mouth. You can. It won't harm you, and it has no real taste or scent, but it leaves the nastiest coating on your tongue you can imagine. This is definitely the sort of lube you want to use when you've finished with any oral pleasures you may intend to indulge in.

Unless you like having a furry feeling tongue. Then, by all means, lap it up.

Performance

I've tried quite a few silicone lubes and Wet Platinum Bodyglide seems, to me, to be average.

It lasts a good long time but is a bit more oily feeling than some of the ones I've liked better (Better Sex Essentials or Bodyfluid). It does wash off easily, perhaps a bit more easily than some, which is both good and bad. It's performance in water is hindered by the fact that it rinses away more readily, but it's also easier to clean off both body and toys. I rarely need soap to remove this from my skin, and it cleans off toys with just a bit of soap and warm water.

The good thing about its extra slickness is that it works absolutely fantastically as a massage potion, as well as a lube. I can do a thorough rub down without having to reapply. My hands glide and knead muscles with ease, yet most of the lube sinks into the skin enough that an immediate shower isn't needed as soon as I'm finished.

My personal preference for Wet Platinum Bodyglide, however, is anal sex. I don't like thick lubes so the fact that this stuff is thin, yet very very long lasting, makes for a very comfortable rump romp.

As a side note... It also makes an anal plug almost too slick, and more prone to slipping out than less slick lubricants.

Packaging

My Wet Platinum Bodyglide is the small, 1.5 ounce, square shaped, bottle with a press top cap (press one side, the other side pops up and allows you to squeeze a small amount into your hand). I like this type of bottle since it prevents leaking, and is easy to open and close one handed without having to pay a whole lot of attention to what you're doing.

Personal comments

At almost double the cost of water based lubricants, people often feel like silicone isn't worth the expense. But it is! I've found my bottles silicone lubricants last three or four times as long as water based ones, since you rarely need to reapply and use such a small amount to get a good amount of slickness.

A good silicone lube that works well for you and your purposes, is an excellent investment and Wet Platinum Bodyglide is no exception. It's not my favorite, but it's still worth every penny.
Follow-up commentary
Though there are some stand out lubes, both of the good and horrid variety, I'm becoming quite enamored of lubes that are simply good.

I've said it before. I'll likely say it again. Good is good. Having a good, solid lube around that doesn't cost an arm and a leg comes in handy. I can save my "best" lubes for when I really need them and use the "every day" lubes at less crucial times.

Wet Platinum Bodyglide is one of those every day, good, solid lubes that always works. It's not the best, but it's good, nothing to complain about.

I particularly like it for glass and metal anal plugs for it's staying power, lack of gelatinous goopiness and the fact that the smallest drop will do ya for a good, long time.

I'm wondering how this compares to the Climax - that one I've found works well with the plugs. I need to get some other toys to try out a silicone lube on Smile.

    Great review!

I actually don't like silicone lubes with plugs. Love them for anal sex and thrusting but they seem to make plugs a bit too slippery. I so totally want to try the Climax anal for them!
