Sassy? More Like Passé

If you're looking for a water-based lube that is as versatile as it is universally friendly, you've got a great match. If you're wanting something that will last all through the night without having to be bothered with many, many applications, you're going to want something else. While it was good for a lot of things, I would not recommend this to someone that already has a fairly well-stocked lubricant shelf.

Use

The Sassy is another member of Sliquid's natural line, in this case tailored for anal play. The water-based formula is thicker than its counterparts thanks to additional plant cellulose in the ingredients. Like all of the company's products, this one is vegan-friendly, gluten-free, paraben free, and sulfate-free, among a lot of other things, which will be listed later. Advertised as being able to emulate the body's natural lubrication, this gel makes a perfect fit for just about anyone's needs. Unless you have an oddly specific allergy to citric acid or potassium sorbate, that is.

Of course the formulation lends itself not just to anal use. It is unsurprisingly quite versatile, for the same reasons that make it appealing for a lot of people. It works great with toys, solo or with a partner, for manual stimulation, safe sex supplies of all stripes, and masturbation. Heck, you could even use it as a moisturizer if you really wanted to.

The only thing I would not recommend it for is oral sex. The thick formula can make it difficult to feel the light nuisances of cunnilingus or fellatio, and while it doesn't taste bad it isn't pleasant either. It also will not hold up in the shower or other water environment.

And if you really needed another reason to add this to your collection, it works with any gadget. Your metal Njoy Pure plugs? Or that granite dildo? Or that jelly rabbit vibrator you just can't part with? Sassy makes nice with all of them.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

As a gel product, I was expecting this to be a lot thicker than it ended up being. At room temperature, it had roughly the same consistency as honey, unlike the molasses I was envisioning when I made my purchase. I was disappointed by this fact. I bought a thick lube intending for it to be viscous, not to be like a silicone knock-off.

When compared to another of Sliquid's products, the Sliquid Organics Natural, it was a lot less runny. It will definitely stay where you put it, and thanks to the adhesive / cohesive properties of water, it only moves on its own once warmed up. It is neither sticky nor tacky, like some thick lubes can end up being.

While it had a slightly greasy quality about it, I found that was probably intended. It has to be slick to work, after all, and it wasn't as though it impaired use in any way. Like other water-based lubricants I have tried, it is smooth in way that is hard to put to words. It is almost like touching a half-melted ice cube, or butter.

From the bottle it pours out easily, and you can control the amount you get without effort. Thankfully I didn't have to coax it out of the tube, but I suspect getting every last drop will be a problem once you hit the bottom.

Taste / Aroma

The smell of this product was clean, almost minty bordering on antiseptic. Luckily it was light, and it small doses it wasn't noticeable unless you were actively trying to find it.

Since the lube is not meant to be used for oral sex, the taste should not be much of a problem. "Should not be" being the key clause in that sentence. While the lube itself will not last long unless you re-apply or add water to it, the taste lingers on past use. After using it on my partner's anatomy, I decided to try out some flavored lube and go in for some oral. That was a mistake on my part. Having used the flavored lube in the past I knew what it was meant to taste like, but somehow the two lubes ended up getting mixed together and the result was disgusting. We nearly had to stop and wash up before I could continue. Luckily when we tried again later the taste had left for good and we could get on with the moment.

Performance

The singular issue I take with this product is how long it lasts. Like other water-based lubes, it is prone to drying out and constantly needs to be either reapplied, or to be reactivated with water. Considering some of the advantages, such as being compatible with so many other materials, the trade-off seems fair on paper. But nothing is as annoying and having to constantly pause in bed to squeeze out more or to get water. When it comes to partner play I'm going to have to pass on this one. I'll stick with my trusty silicone instead.

Toys and outer stimulation are a slip-slide of a breeze with Sassy. I love using it for inserting my Kegels exercisers or butt plugs. I'm always thankful to have it on hand for my bigger dildos, too. Though I did not buy it for this purpose, it quickly became my favorite use of it.

When coupled with my own lubrication (as the product describes) I find the two blend quite well and it stays sufficient for a much longer duration. For those that suffer from natural dryness due to genetics, menopause or other factors, I do not think it will have the same longevity. Though products like this one are doubly important under such circumstances, this one is not best suited for the task. I found that if I was not fully aroused (and thus producing my own juices) within a certain time-frame, it was not nearly as helpful as it could be.

Now for the major use of this product: anal. It is just gelled enough to stand up to the rough life of backdoor play, but you're going to want to apply a lot. However much you think you need, you ought to about double. You really cannot have enough, unless you want to stop haphazardly in the moment to slather some more on, that is. If you take the right precautions it should last you through to the finish line, but keep a squirt bottle on hand to help kick start it if need be.

In call cases, I found it cleaned up nicely when it needed to be. Most of the time it was absorbed into the skin before it got to the point of needing to be cleaned off. While typing this, I rubbed some into my hand just to test the theory. A half hour later, it was completely gone. This stuff vanishes like a ghost, not that you always want it to.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Dries up too fast
    • Reapply often

Packaging

The packaging is like most other Sliquid products. It comes in a clear plastic bottle with a white plastic pop cap. The cap is easy to open and close with one hand, though due to the thickness of the formula you will likely need two hands to actually squeeze the bottle.

Depending on what size you get, there will be a variance in how tall or wide it is. The outside it wrapped in a neon pink label, baring the Sliquid logo, a subtitle saying "natural lubricating gel" and the word "Sassy" in fancy, cursive font. Below the logo flower it gives in small letters how many ounces it is (in my case, 4.2) and how many milliliters (125). It is subtle enough to store without worrying about if people will realize it to be a sex lubricant or not. If placed with other bath or body products it should blend right in, unless someone were to take the time to read the subscript.

On the back it has the Sliquid Promise:
"Our products are always FREE of DEA, gluten, glycerin, glycerol, parabens, PEG, propylene glycol, sorbitol & sulfates... 100% Vegan Friendly"

And the ingredients list:
"Purified water, plant cellulose(from cotton), cyamopsis (guar conditioners), potassium sorbate, citric acid" Under which it gives a phone number, a website address and a barcode.

Next to this it gives a full list of all of the Sliquid Sassy Booty Gel. "water-based and water soluble. Glycerin free and paraben free. Hypoallergenic and non-staining. Latex, rubber and plastic friendly. Fragrance free and flavor free. Uniquely blended to emulate our body's own natural lubrication. Formulated to last longer than most Hollywood marriages!" It then says that to reactivate it you need to apply water or more product. It also says to recycle the packing.

One thing I was really happy to see on this product was an expiration date. I just about started to sing when I saw there was a stamp on the bottle saying when it would go bad. So many products just leave you to guess, but not little miss booty. If mine is anything to go off of, this gel will last you two to two and a half years if stored properly.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Recyclable
    • Very informative packaging
