Perhaps the Perfect (Water-based) Lube...
I-D Moments is perhaps the best water-based lubricant out of the handful that I've experienced. From texture and application to the fantastic lock-for-storage pump bottle, I'm thoroughly enamored with this product. When *I* can't find anything to criticize besides the price point and the pink packaging, that's a thoroughly quality product.

Pros
Fantastic texture, lasts quite a while for water, glycerin-free, fantastic application pump
Cons
Premium Price, Pink Packaging
There are a lot of lubricants available these days, and I've tried but a handful of them, but this one is easily my favorite water-based lube. A fantastic, if slightly overly watery texture (imagine that!) coupled with an intelligent packaging make for a great product. Let's look over the points, one at a time.
Ingredients
Glycerin and paraben free provide immediate high points for this product. I won't go into all of the details of why these matter - the important thing is that not having glycerin reduces the nasty feeling other lubes can leave behind when they've begun to dry out during use. Glycerin can also cause irritation for some people. Paraben free is a bonus to ladies as it reduces the chances of the lube causing a UTI.
The complete ingredients list is as follows:
- Water
- Butylene Glycol (preservative/thickener)
- Carboxmethycellulose (lubricant)
- Hydroxyethylcellulose (lubricant)
- Ammonium Acryloydimethyltaurate
- PEG 45M (color)
- Citric Acid (Taste or scent?)
- Sodium Benzoate (preservative in EVERYTHING)
Pretty standard stuff, really - the only item on that list I couldn't recognize is the Ammonium Acrylodimethyltaurate, which I'm guessing is a long-chain polymer lubricant as well (chemists, feel free to say otherwise!) So, in addition to being paraben and glycerin free, we've got a nice list of ingredients that is pretty much hypoallergenic. Yay!
Application and Use
Not referring to the actual uses list, as that's up to the user's preferences, but to how it comes out and how it feels. First of all is the bottle, which features a pump. Not the most revolutionary idea in the world - if hand soaps use pumps, it makes sense to put one on lubricants as well. Sadly, this is an idea that hasn't made it to a number of other great lubes, presumably for travel purposes. I cannot understate how pleasant it is to not have to worry about scraping my fingers on a flip top or worrying (as much) about spilling.
On top of those features, the Moments pump features a twist-lock mechanism, which I found brilliant. When you're not actively using the lube, turn the nozzle to one side and the pump locks in the upright position. Brilliant! No more worrying about the pump accidentally being activated if it's packed away, or if it falls off your bedside table! No concerns about storage in a drawer! Absolutely fantastic, and I wish more companies would use the same idea for locking for storage/travel.
Okay, okay - enough gushing about the fantastic pump. There is one downside, which comes from the texture of the lube - it can be tricky to catch the lube in the hand when pumping it, as it will either drop straight down or shoot outwards depending on pressure. In the heat of the moment, it's not fun to have to worry about catching lube. Then again, I'm willing to accept that this might just be my motor coordination issue.
The lube itself is watery and runny - to be expected from a water-based lube. So, like most lubes, there's a certain amount of mess involved in application. However, once applied the sensation is smooth and silky.
The only "complaint" I had in my trials was that the water-base made the lube cooler in the air compared to what I'm used to, so it took a little bit to get used to the new chill. After a few minutes, though, it was smooth sailing, requiring much less re-application compared to other water-based lubes I've used in the past.
Final Thoughts
This is a fantastic product, and love it compared to a lot of the alternatives out there. The no-muss, no-fuss nature of the pump is a HUGE bonus that I hope to be able to put to use at the local play space. Lack of glycerin-gooiness is another huge plus from where I sit. I can't speak to how well it would taste if mixing oral sex into the activities, but aside from that unknown variable this is a fantastic product through-and-through.
