Perfectly slippery.

I would absolutely recommend this product to any friend or foe, as I believe everybody deserves a single go-to lubricant that satisfies every need a sexually deviant mind could dream of. Long-lasting, natural feeling, non-irritating... a perfect recipe for a do-everything lubricant.

Use

Liquid silk feels just like a natural and endogenous vaginal lubricant. The texture is surprisingly thin, which means that a little squirt will cover a large surface area. As this lube is water-based, I feel safe using it with all of my toys. In the heat of the moment, the last thing I want to worry about is which lubricant will complement my pleasure object material. It's a fantastic lubricant and is also my favorite product for vaginal intercourse. Despite it spreading quite thinly, Liquid Silk has great endurance and I have never required re-application. "Liquid Silk" is a perfect description of how satiny this lubricant is. It is the only lubricant I use, and have not felt the need to search for anything else. I will absolutely repurchase.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

For an idea of how slick and smooth Liquid Silk feels, I would compare the sensation to having wet dish wash detergent rubbing between your fingers - only this lubricant is perfectly safe for the most sensitive skin, and not corrosive. The slipperiness and thin texture is comparable. As aforementioned, the lube spreads quite thinly, coating a large area of skin/toy with minimal volume required. As it is quite thin, it is highly viscous and can drip if not careful. For example, when using it with my clitoral vibrator I find that if applied directly to my clitoris, it can drip down my lily towards my anus. This may or may not be a problem for you, but I'd prefer it to stay in place. To reconcile this, I've been putting the lubricant (only a pea sized amount) directly onto my vibrator, and then go from there. It seems to help localize the lubricant and prevent it from roaming. One of the things that I find most miraculous with this lubricant is that once it "dries up," say, on a penis/dildo shaft, it doesn't leave a sticky residue that is commonly found when the liquid portion of a lubricant evaporates. On skin, this lubricant simply disappears. On my hard plastic vibrator, sometimes a thin clear, dry film is left behind - but it has no odor or crusty appearance, and is simple to swipe off with a damp cloth.

Taste / Aroma

This lubricant is odorless, but has a faint bitter taste. As the taste leaves something to be desired, I would not recommend this lubricant for oral activity. This may limit your sexual adventure if oral spontaneity is desired, but this hasn't been a problem for me. (Usually, if oral stimulation is involved in my personal foreplay, lubricant of any artificial nature is unnecessary.) As this lubricant contains no artificial dyes, odors, or flavors, I feel like it's a perfect candidate to come in contact with my fairly sensitive lily skin. As a personal preference, I wouldn't feel comfortable icing my lily with anything that had a chemically altered odor or taste.

Performance

This product is impressively enduring. A small amount will last your entire sex adventure, and as before mentioned, reapplication is rarely necessary. On skin, the product disappears over time, and on toys, a thin (odorless, crust-free) film is left behind. This film can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth, even if left on overnight. Liquid Silk is a fantastic lubricant for any type of skin. It has proved to be the perfect compliment for sensitive skin. If you have minor lacerations or abrasions from rough intercourse, this lubricant doesn't sting. Such a pleasant surprise, compared to the agonizing burn that you find with other brands.

Packaging

I currently own a 50mL flip-cap bottle of Liquid Silk. This has been perfect for traveling as it is under the airline carry-on liquid allowance, and I have never experienced a leak. The cap opens easily, and can be done swiftly with one hand. My container had a detailed list of ingredients, but no instructions or suggested use. A big bold "LIQUID SILK" adorns the bottle, so discrete? It depends on the sexual knowledge and experience of the person who finds it. Your child or grandmother could easily mistake this as a bottle of hand lotion. Your more sexually deviant cousin however... he would probably know exactly what it is. Especially if you keep it beside your favorite toy.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Easy to use / dispense

Special Features

Liquid Silk boasts no bells or whistles to attract consumers. Its success is being able to feel fantastic and natural, letting your own sexy curiosity stand in the spotlight.
Follow-up commentary
Still a great lube, but after reading the comments I'm eager to try the Maximus version by the same makers. I think having both would give me a wider range of versatility because Liquid Silk is quite thin, and I've heard that Maximus is a thicker version (while staying true to the slick, slippery, natural feel).

I have done some more research on parabens and their speculative link to breast cancer. I don't apply the lubricant on or near my breasts, and preliminary research has shown that IF parabens are indeed correlated with increased incidence of breast cancer, the cancer action will occur on or near the location of topical application (and thus absorption). This HAS made me begin my search for a natural, preservative free lubricant that mimics the slickness of the LS. For now though, this will do.

Eeps, thanks everyone for the reminder and heads up on the dimethicone. I don't love this lube any less, but it HAS infulenced which toys I use it with (non-silicone).

    Great review!

I've been curious about this lube, but was a bit hesitant to get it as a water-based lube for my silicone toys since it does have a bit of silicone (in the form of dimethicone) in it. Does it wash off your silicone toys well without leaving any residue?
  • Contributor: ToyingCouple
I agree with S.S. The dimethicone ingredient always scares me off with this stuff. We've too many silicone favorite toys that I'd hate to damage! Thanks for the good review.

Thank you for the review. You're doing a good job!

As Toying Couple said, the Dimethicone is not for us, most of our toys are silicone. Also, we don't do "foreplay" we incorporate oral sex in-between bouts of PIV, anal, during toy play, we're always going back and forth. Sex isn't an "A then B, then C, then he comes" thing.

I think I'll skip this product. Thank you for letting us know about the bitter taste and the thinness. As oral and anal are intregal parts of all our sexual encounters as are silicon toys, this lube is not the best for us. We also prefer a thick lube, as we have many anal encounters and thick is best for this most of the time.

BUT, you did a really good job describing it. Keep up the good work.

I've had this in its container for years, and just pulled it out this afternoon to look at. It's discolored and looks like it's been degrading. Texture is the same - slippery and thin, but it has developed a sour smell. It was stored in the dark, so I'm not sure how this happened. Just a heads up!

I would agree on the discoloring and the smell. This is great for personal time. Good review.
