Organic/Natural Lube Showdown! Part 4- Lelo Personal Moisturizer

While this Lelo product has many redeeming qualities as a personal moisturizer, it a lackluster lube. With those expectations and a tolerance for a few stray chemicals in your formula, you will probably be pleased with this product. It leaves intimate skin and the surrounding area feeling smooth and moisturized. It's great for after play/sex, and for that purpose I would recommend it.

Pros
Paraben free, Glycerin free, makes skin feel smooth and moisturized.
Cons
Probably too thin for some, dries too quickly for use as lube, contains some non-natural chemicals.

extremely useful review
After using an older bottle of Doc Johnson's Ultra lube for a long while, and recently reading the ingredients list with horror and concern, I decided it was time to expand my water-based lubricant horizons into the organic or mostly organic. I ordered a sampler pack of Good Clean Love lubricants (1 oz each of their 3 flavors) directly from their website, and Sliquid Organics Gel, Sliquid Organics Naturals, and Lelo Personal Moisturizer from EF. The comparison for all four is here.

What follows is the last of this series of reviews: Lelo Personal Moisturizer water-based lubricant/moisturizer. Part 1 was my review of Sliquid Organics Gel, Part 2 was my review of Good Clean Love's Almost Naked (unflavored) lube, and Part 3 was Sliquid Organic Naturals lube.

I intentionally left Lelo's personal moisturizer for last for two reasons: 1) It took longer for me to create my own opinion than the others, and 2) it's the lube-that's-not-a-lube. It's important to note, that Lelo isn't selling this as a lube, but EF has it listed as a water-based lube as well as a moisturizer. I would say as a lube it's so-so. Nothing truly fantastic, but nice. As a personal/intimate moisturizer, though, I like it better (that's why I gave it 4 starts instead of 3).

Lelo's moisturizer is thinner than Good Clean Love and the Sliquid Organics Gel, but slightly thicker than Sliquid Organics Naturals. It's clear, and drips out of the tube almost as soon as you open it (if you store it spout down, instead of on its side). As a result of the thin consistency, it absorbs pretty fast. The one night we used it as a lube, we reapplied twice during our play session, and I was less than impressed. The quick absorption is a positive for use as a moisturizer. It doesn't drip unless you use too much, as I have on one or two occasions.

The ingredients are supposedly "natural" but they are NOT organic by any means. This formula contains aspartame (aka Nutrasweet) and a few random chemicals...Tetrasodium EDTA, Polysorbate-20, Polyquaternium-5, and PEG-45M. They are in the middle and near the end of the list, so there probably isn't a large proportion of them, but they are still there. If you are prone to issues with aspartame specifically, I'd avoid it just to be safe. Because of the ingredients, this entry in my showdown doesn't exactly meet the organic/healthy standard I started out with. I wouldn't recommend it for organic- or green-minded folks as there are better products out there for that. But I would still recommend it as a solid moisturizer to keep your most tender area healthy and taken care of.

Lastly, the packaging (like all Lelo products) is very discreet. The smaller size tube is made of shiny black plastic with "LELO" written in silver shiny letters. To an observer or passerby, it could be a tube of hand lotion from the look alone. The tube comes in a black cardboard box that is also very discreet to me. In fact, I'm taking the whole thing, box and tube, on our honeymoon.
Experience
A little goes a long way for moisturizing your lady parts. The morning after, it's a nice way to soothe the delicate skin that may have gotten chaffed or a bit sore from playing the night before. After applying it in the morning, my whole intimate area, inside and out, felt MUCH better throughout the day than if I don't moisturize. Now, in all fairness, I haven't used any other personal or intimate moisturizers, so I'm judging Lelo's by itself, and I'm comparing it to lubes by consistency and flavor (there is none) only. With that said, I think it does its job well.
Follow-up commentary
I say "don't like it anymore" with a caveat. I don't like it as a lube...and as my review stated, it's not intended to be a lube. As a personal moisturizer, it's still a good product, and I think I would have been lost on my honeymoon without this to smooth and moisturize delicate skin after having sex for the first time.

After continued use, though, I noticed that I felt "jumpy" right around the area I applied it. it was almost like I felt over-caffeinated from the inside out...very weird. Since using Lelo's moisturizer was the only lifestyle change I made, I stopped using it, and it went away after that. I have no idea what caused this reaction or if I'm just extra sensitive, but I stopped using it anyway.
