Not Hot Gel
Hot Gel is simply pretty unexciting. It doesn't do much of its job as a warming lube. I didn't feel any warming sensations at all, while my partner noticed some sensation, but says it wasn't incredible feeling. This also dries up very quickly and has a bad, though light, odor to it.

Pros
All-American lube, compatible with all toys and latex condoms
Cons
dries up quickly, very little to no warming sensations, smells bad
I’m not normally interested in any type of warming gel or lubricant, but with the upcoming cold weather, I decided I’d give the Hot Gel a try.
Hot Gel comes packaged in a clear plastic bottle with a black press open lid. The bottle is pretty small, holding only 2.5 ounces of lubricant. It measures 4 inches tall by 2 ½ inches around, making it about as big as a trial-size bottle of soap or shampoo. The front of the bottle has two small clip-art pictures of men flexing their muscular arms over the text, “Hot Gel.” It states this is a sensual, long lasting, latex friendly water-based lube. The back of the bottle states this information, as well as a caution against spilling this, as it can create a slippery surface. The directions state to apply this to the desired area. It does take a little bit more to get this stuff working, but I will get into that later. The bottle also states this is the, “All-American lubricant.” It does not say where it is made, but it is distributed in the US.
Ingredients:
DI Water, Glycerin, Glycereth – 26, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Menthol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea.
As you can see, this product does contain both parabens and glycerin, which some users may be sensitive to. The menthol creates the warming feeling. The glycereth and Hydroxyethylcellulose are thickening agents used to keep the lube nice and thick. Imidazolidinyl urea is an antimicrobial preservative. It’s used to brown pretzels. I found some information stating that there are concerns for this ingredient regarding skin toxicity. I used this lube externally only, as I have been having some issues with my body lately and did not want to worsen it by potentially giving myself a yeast infection. I suggest doing a small spot test before using if you do have sensitive skin. I had no issues on the areas of my body I did use this.
Opening the bottle, there is a foil seal underneath the cap. Once removed, the lube will pour out from the lid pretty easily. The consistency is thick and about average with other water based lubes. The initial feeling on skin is very natural and slightly slick, though it does become very sticky once it begins to absorb. It will dry completely into skin within a matter of a few minutes. More lube can be applied, or it can be reactivated with saliva or water. A drop applied to my finger, which I then held straight up, did not move down my finger. It mostly just stayed in a bead on the tip of my finger. This lube is unflavored but it does make my tongue and throat burn a bit if I get this in my mouth. It has a somewhat unpleasant odor to it. I think it smells a little like chemicals. He says it smells like cinnamon toothpaste. The odor is not very strong. I have to put the lube right under my nose to smell it. This lube is clear, but the design on the back of the bottle makes it appear reddish in the bottle.
As I stated before, we only used this lube externally. After my terrible experience with the Reverse Tightening Gel I am not all terribly too eager to put anything new in or around my vagina, especially warming, tingling, or burning things. Hot Gel can be applied to areas of the body like the breasts, clitoris, penis, testicles, and any other outer erogenous zones. It can also be used as a lubricant for anal or vaginal sex. When I applied it to some of my skin, I did not notice any warming sensations. All I felt was a little bit of a goopy feeling on my skin, like it was caked with something super heavy. The directions on the bottle do not state it, but the warming sensations are activated through gentle blowing or saliva. Neither activated any sensation on my skin. We applied Hot Gel directly onto his penis. At first we just let it sit on there, giving no sensations. Blowing gently on it created a tiny bit of sensation. Saliva best activated the warming sensations. He says it was noticeably warm feeling, but not really amazing. Within a few minutes, the sensations he felt began to fade.

Experience
I’ve tried probably five or six other warming lubes, with most ending up with the same results. The only warming lube I’ve actually had any warming sensation from is KY warming. However, unlike the KY warming, he says this lube does not cause him to feel numb. Some warming lubes will create so much sensation, the skin it’s applied to goes numb.
Hot Gel can be used externally for massage or foreplay, as well as during vaginal or anal sex. It can also be used with toys. Since its water based, it is compatible with any toy. As a water-based lube that doesn’t create too slick of a surface, it would work well with anal toys. Water based lube is also compatible with latex condoms.
To clean this off of skin, you simply need to wash with soap and warm water. I can easily get this off of my hands in the sink with warm water. It doesn’t stain fabrics. If you get some on bed sheets or other fabric, you can either spot clean it or throw it in the washer, depending on the washing instructions. Spots will come out completely.
When storing, I make sure to check how tightly the cap is twisted on. I also only store this with the bottle standing straight up. I didn’t notice the bottle leaking at all, but the push top does not always fully seal. Aside from the size, this bottle isn’t very discreet. It looks like a lube bottle. It is small enough to easily hide just about anywhere, though.
I don’t feel I would recommend using Hot Gel. Between my fiancé and myself, only one of us felt anything on their skin, and even that wasn’t the greatest sensations. This lube does feel nice and natural at first, but it gets super sticky within just a few seconds of being applied. After about 5 minutes, it is completely dried up and the warming sensations are gone.

Follow-up commentary

I still do not care for this stuff. It doesn't provide any warming sensations at all. I have been preferring to stick with lubes that don't have special properties just because I don't like these things being complete let-downs.
