My Least Favorite Lube. Ever.
If you're thinking of buying Astroglide, try Maximus or JO H20 instead. Astroglide gets so sticky, in just minutes. It's also overpriced.

Pros
You can get it at any grocery store or mass-retailer.
Cons
Stickiness; doesn't last long at all; very overpriced
In my opinion, Astroglide is like the Equate/store-brand version of a real lubricant. Everyone wants to think it's a good deal, it's as good as any other lube, and hey, you can get it at the grocery store, but let me do my best to debunk the myths!
Misconception Number 1: Astroglide is a good value.
Astroglide is 2.5 fl. oz. for $12.99. That's about $5.20 per ounce.
A much better product, Maximus, is 8.25 fl. oz. for $15.99. That's about $1.94 per ounce. In my opinion, Maximus is one of the best all-purpose water based lubricants you can get, and it's in the Top-10 water based lubes sold on Edenfantasys.com. That's saying something.
Another superior product, System JO H20, is 5.25 fl. oz. for $17.99. That's about $3.43 per ounce. Not as good of a deal as Maximus, but it's got a great flavor and is one of my top choices for use during oral sex.
So next time you're buying a sex toy online, add a better bottle of lube to your shopping cart. Buying a larger bottle for less money is economical, and you won't have to worry about being embarrassed at the checkout next time your grandma's friend Doris is running the register.
Misconception Number 2: Astroglide is as good as any other lube.
Astroglide is not bad when you first apply it, but it very quickly becomes thick and sticky. There's a reason why people don't masturbate with Elmer's white glue. The goal is to have a pleasurable sensation, not to cover your goodies in sticky globs (no offense meant, die hard Astroglide fans).
If you experiment with different types of toys (or even if you usually don't), I encourage you to apply that same curiosity and willingness to try new things to your choice of lubricants. You never know, you may find your Holy Grail.
Misconception Number 3: You can get Astroglide at the grocery store.
Okay, so that part is true.
Well, as they say, "Two out of three ain't bad."

There are still dozens of cheaper, better feeling options out there. This stuff is terrible! Go with anything but this!

You have a unique approach in your review. I agree that Astroglide is very overrated. For some reason I think you can get it cheaper in drug stores than you can online, so that might affect the cost comparison, but the other points I agree with and Maximus is definitely a better lube. Thanks for the review.

I remember being impressed with Astroglide 15 years ago. I agree with you, though--there are just so many better options out there now. Nice cost-comparison!

Interesting review - I agree that Maximus is definitely a better lubricant. At least you've let us all know what Astroglide is like!

I, too, used Astroglide to start but have since moved on. I love Maximus, but like many of you, had to try many other lubes before coming to the one that works best. Thanks for the review!

As most people on this sight, We also started with Astro, but have not tried Maximus yet. Will do that though next time we purchase.
