Maximus is a water-based lubricant, making it great to use with all types of toys/condoms. Also works great for solo sessions, intercourse, and because it has great staying power and is so smooth, one does not have to go over board on the lube for a silky great time.

So far, this is the best lube we have used for anal play--very smooth, comfortable, and long lasting (because it is water-based we do need to re-apply occasionally but not nearly as some other water-based lubes).

There are some parabens in Maximus, and although I was worried about this at first, (especially since we had originally bought this specifically after hearing/reading how great it was for anal play and since I have fairly sensitive skin) I haven't noticed any major problems with it (please read Personal Comments for my description/explanation on the burning sensation some reviews have mentioned).

It has a gel-like consistency, I find, and is rather thick. However, it is incredibly silky-smooth when run between fingers. I don't find that it gets sticky, it washes off easily (afterwards), and because of the thickness, it really stays and lasts (despite being a water-based lube). Funny enough, afterwards my skin feels really soft, I've noticed (plus for me as some lubes have dried me out).

We use this mostly for anal sex and it works fantastic and really lasts. It is the best lube for that that we have used thus far.

Many reviewers have mentioned how the taste of Maximus is minimal or doesn't bother them. However, I find the taste to definitely be on the bitter and bad side. Anytime it manages to come in contact with my mouth, I have a moment of "ew" and try to increase the salvia in my mouth in order to cover up/rid of the taste. In a minute or so, the taste passes and it no longer bothers me. The boyfriend has mentioned that it has a foul taste to it, but it seems to bother him a lot less than it bothers me.

I have not found a smell to Maximus, which I love, as I find that many scented lubes smell on the fake/fragrant side.

Maximus is amazing when it comes to staying power. We couldn't get over how little we needed to re-apply throughout a session. Not having to re-apply lubricant is definitely a plus as I find sometimes it can put a pause on the mood (it's great that the pump makes it so easy to use and add during a session).

It is great, smooth, and comfortable for anal sex. We tend to use more in order to make it comfortable for both of us, but because it is so long-lasting, we are making much less of a mess (in regards to lube) than normal.

It is also great and easy for clean up, and I find it makes my skin fairly soft afterwards. I'm so happy to finally have found a fantastic/favourite/all purpose lubricant.

I really enjoy the packaging for Maximus, mostly because of the pump in the 250ml bottle, which is incredibly user-friendly and great for any in-the-moment needs.

The 250ml bottle stands about 7" (with the pump) and has a circumference of 7"; it holds a lot of product and after 2-ish months of fairly regular (and vigorous use) we're only about half way through the bottle.

The bottle is clear and see-through with images and black writing. It is rather classy for lube packaging. Because of its simplicity it doesn't scream sex or lubricant.

Maximus comes in 250ml and 50ml bottles (though EF only sells the 250ml bottle). I do have the 50ml bottle as well, which I clean out and re-fill when empty to use it for travel, as it is much more compact. I have not tried to travel with the 250ml bottle, as I am personally worried that the pump would pump out product if hit the wrong way making a possible mess in any plastic bag/bag it was stored in.

Over use, I've noticed that the only time this product creates a 'burning' sensation (as some other reviewers have mentioned) is when I start to get sore and we've created a tear/scratch/etc. somewhere and Maximus comes in contact with it. Now we are just more aware of when I start to feel a little sore and switch out for another kind of lubricant instead of continuing with Maximus.

I also personally enjoying having one type of lube that I really enjoy that I can use with all toys (used to love silicone lube until I purchased silicone toys and hated having to switch back and forth between lubes depending on the mood I was in, as well as being worried about cross contamination). Because Maximus is water-based I'm able to use it for everything and don't have to worry.

I've heard many people compare Maximus to Liquid Silk (another silky-smooth, long-lasting, water-based lube). I have yet to try Liquid Silk but I'm definitely intrigued.
