Like face cream, for your butt

When used with a water-based lube, ID Him makes for a slick and long-lasting experience. Though it does have some difficulties with sanitary dispensing and latex compatibility, I've enjoyed ID Him repeatedly for anal play since receiving it and it keeps a top shelf position in my toy cabinet. Just remember that if you're using ID Him with toys, check the toy's material information page to make sure it's compatible with oil-based lubes.

Use

ID Him is an oil-based lube that has a similar color and thickness as a facial cream or lotion. ID Him is designed for stroking and for light anal play. As an oil-based lube, ID Him is NOT latex compatible. Using this product with a latex rubber condom may weaken the condom and result in breakage. Use with latex toys or clothing may cause similar damage. However, for masturbation or play with fingers or oil-safe toys (silicone, glass, metal) ID Him has several advantages over typical water-based lubes: it doesn't dry out or get sticky, it's thick enough to stay where you put it, and it holds up well to use in wet conditions.

Those who are sensitive to parabens should be aware that ID Him contains methyl- and propylparaben. ID Him also contains lanolin, an oil which coats sheep's wool, which means that strict vegans should probably avoid this product.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

ID Him is thick and cushy. The lubes is similar in thickness to Noxzema, a facial cleaning lotion and moisturizer, but with much improved lubricating properties. As it is in a "tub-style" container, you just dip a finger into the lube then apply to a penis, toy, or skin. The lube stays in place quite well and is not at all runny. Because it is oil-based it is a bit greasy, but cleans up almost completely with a dry towel, and fully with soap and water. After a while, it seems to soak in and becomes non-noticeable.

Taste / Aroma

This particular variant of ID Him is unscented. That said, it does have a slight smell of unscented hand/body lotion. The smell is not powerful; you have to directly sniff the container or the area on which the lube was applied. I didn't find the scent bothersome. The lube has a slightly bitter taste. Though not overwhelming, I wouldn't want it in my mouth if I could avoid it.

Performance

Performance varied with use. For masturbation (stroking) ID Him wasn't as slick as I would like. Without using more than seemed necessary, the lube has too much drag. However, I am uncut, so my head is a bit more sensitive and I generally prefer very slippery water-based lube. For anal play, the ID Him was quite nice for warming up. I really enjoyed using the lube on fingers and smaller toys. One moderate application seemed to last about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, due to the "dip" style container, there was no way to reapply in a sanitary manner, unless you were to wash your hands first. Due to the sanitary concerns, I wouldn't recommend sharing this lube between partners. For anal lube, I feel that a pump container more preferable for dispensing.

Clean up was easy with a paper or cloth towel. This almost complete removal leaves a bit on the skin and softens and moisturizes the area, in my opinion. More complete clean-up is effortless with soap and water.

I found this lube performed best when used in conjunction with a water-based lube. My favorite technique for both masturbation and anal play is to apply the ID Him lube first and enjoy it until it feels like more is needed. At that point, I continue instead with my favorite water-based lube. The ID Him coats your skin with a thin water-resistant layer and prevents the water-based lube from soaking in as quickly. When I first applied ID Him, I found that the water-based lube later applied felt slicker and I only had to reapply about half as often. The synergy between the two types made anal play more comfortable for longer, even with bigger toys.

Packaging

The lube I received was the smaller 1 oz. size. It arrived as the small container pictured in the standard postal box Eden uses. There was no additional packaging beyond the container of the lube. The container provides the name, size, and list of ingredients, and manufacturer name. The only other information provided is a warning not to use with latex condoms and an advisory that ID Him may stain fabrics. The container arrived sealed with a tamper-evident ring of plastic to keep the container closed during shipping. On the side is printed an expiration date and lot number.

Since the container is quite small, it would easily pack for travel. However, discreet travelers should note that the top label has the words "lubricating cream" and the bottom label mentions condoms. A permanent black marker, or the removal of the label could ease such concerns and make the product appear only to be a lotion.

Personal comments

When used in combination with a water-based lube, ID Him has another fun effect. As it gets mixed with the water-based lube during anal play, it creates a white thick liquid. It's as if I've creamed myself, and looks quite convincing from a the perspective of the wearer of the harness if you're pegging. If you have an extra small bottle, ID Him could probably be mixed with another lube to make a very realistic looking "cum" for those seeking monogamous creampies and whatnot.
