K-Y Yours and Mine: no REALLY, keep it, it's yours, I don't want it..

This product was a major FAIL for me personally. The "Mine" lubricant gave a nice, tingling, cool sensation. The "Yours" was a dud; there wasn't any warming sensation. I wouldn't use these lubes again after my painful experience with them led to a yeast infection. And I absolutely hated how STICKY these lubricants were. However, if you don't mind sticky lube and you are looking to try something new, perhaps you would want to look into KY Yours and Mine.

Use

This product is a set of lubricants intended for couple-usage. The blue tube is labeled "Yours." I think it's intended for males; the magenta tube is labeled "Mine," which I think is aimed for female usage. Together, they are supposed to counteract each other for wonderful tingling and warming sensations.

I have used "Mine" just on its own, as well as "Yours." (You don't have to go for the intended marketing, blue and pink, boy and girl, so if you are a female who wants a warmer, honey-infused lubricant, go for the blue "Yours"! If you are a male who wants a tingling mint, try the magenta "Mine.")
I liked "Mine" a little bit better, because it has a minty cool feeling that delivered. The "Yours" is supposed to have a warming sensation, or at least that is what I was lead to believe. I felt no warmth from it at all; it did feel "thicker" than the "Mine" lubricant, though the consistency is essentially the same.
I think these lubricants are intended to be best used for foreplay leading to penetrative sex.
The reality is that I wouldn't want this lubricant inside of me ever again. The "Yours" has glycerin in it, and those sensitive to glycerin will want to stay far away. There are also parabens in KY Yours and Mine, so those concerned about parabens should reconsider purchasing and using this lubricant.
If you are allergic to honey or menthol, obviously, you should pass these two up.

After my painful experience, I would only use Mine as a last resort while masturbating my clitoral region without penetration.

It is a water-based lubricant, though, so it is safe to use with latex condoms as well as your silicone toys. Unfortunately, water-based lubricants are not the best to take into the shower or bath.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I hated the texture of this lubricant.
KY Yours and Mine is thin, runny, and very sticky. I felt like I needed a shower after every use. It was a nightmare when used during intercourse; my thighs got sticky and picked up lint. I personally do not like sticky lubricants.

Also, the lubricants are in tubes that are very inconvenient and not easy to pour in the heat of the moment. They are rounded on the bottom, and have a snap up top to dispense the lubricant. I found it hard to figure out what to do with the lubricant after first dispensing some into my hand. Shut the top back down with your clean hand, then... place it.. on its side? It rolls off of my nightstand, especially if I am ready to go and not trying to carefully place it and keep it from rolling. Place it on its top-side? 1) this makes the top get dirty from the nightstand I've put it on, 2) if you're like me, you probably smeared some of the lubricant on the tiny slot it comes out of-- leading to some sticky lubricant pushed out over the closed cap, and now it will be all over your table/dresser/nightstand, 3) you are in the midst of a sexual adventure and you reach for more ('cause you'll need more), having to pick it up turn it the other way to open it and not have it come spilling out everywhere...
So much hassle from these test-tube lubes. (They remind me of beakers I used to use in my chemistry class in high school!)

I found that the lubrication dried quickly if you didn't use enough of it. While washing my hands off to open the tubes again without creating more mess, I would find my thighs were already a sticky mess.

So no, KY Yours and Mine are not easy to pour. On top of that, the plastic tubes are really hard, so you can't squeeze them easily, either.

The lubricants did not feel particularly greasy or oily. What bugged me the most was the stickiness and thinness of the lubrication.

Taste / Aroma

KY Yours and Mine lubricants have an okay scent.

The Mine lubricant has a minty, fresh smell. I enjoyed that because it smelled "fresh" even when it turned sticky, so I could trick myself into thinking I wasn't as dirty from the lint I picked up.

The Yours lubricant does not have much of a scent at all, but I don't think it's intended to smell like anything.

Neither are very good for tasting, as they are rather bitter. I would not recommend these lubricants for oral stimulation.

Performance

The product did not last me very long within a session. On average, it took me 10 minutes before I needed to reapply. I felt rushed to get my business done before reaching for the bottle/tube for another application.

If you are someone who quickly gets their own personal lubricant flowing, the lubricant will probably last longer when the two mix together. Personally, when I use lubricant, I am not producing a lot of fluids of my own at that moment and I need the assistance. I rarely could get enough of my own lubrication started before having to add more KY Yours and/or Mine.

I absolutely had to wash this lubricant off of me. I would be covered in lint and loose hairs if I did not. I also do not enjoy feeling sticky. Washing it off is not particularly difficult, as the water base makes it rinse right off.

Packaging

The packaging of KY Yours and Mine is pretty basic and simple. It's a nice black box, with the lubricants depicted on the front. No half-nude women making orgasmic faces or anything like that. The box is constructed inside to keep the tubes up and in place.

Basic information and instructions are inside the box. The two tubes are kept neatly together with a black plastic band, which is handy if you always want to keep the two lubricants next to each other. Since I never used the Yours after my first bad experience with the lubricants, I ended up tossing the black band. But others might find it very helpful.

Some people have had leaking issues with these bottles, but I never experienced this. The tops do snap down and shut. They are pretty stiff in construction, and not necessarily easy to squeeze or accidentally press open. However, if you aren't always mindful of pressing caps down and shut, then you might find leaking lubricant an issue. I wouldn't necessarily want to travel with these tubes, but if I wanted to I would be able to do so without an issue.
    • Does not leak
    • Would make a nice gift

Special Features

Like I have mentioned, the Yours lubricant is supposed to have a warming sensation. I never felt a warming sensation to it. Maybe matched next to the Mine, the Yours lube could seem warmer. But anything feels warm next to something that feels really cool.

The Mine does feel cool and tingling. It wasn't overwhelming and uncomfortable in this feature. I felt a nice, noticeable amount of menthol-induced coolness whenever I reached for the pink tube.

Experience

Personally, I used KY Yours and Mine without really knowing what I was looking for in a lubricant and not considering the glycerin/paraben factors. It was one of the first lubricants I purchased for myself, and I am disappointed it couldn't have been a better experience. But I used KY Yours and Mine as a learning tool for future lubrication-endeavors!

The first time using both Yours and Mine together and having penetrative, vaginal sex, I had to stop rather abruptly. It felt painful, not because of burning or tingling. Just plain painful. I immediately washed as much of it off and out as possible.

After that night, I got a bad yeast infection. I do not usually get yeast infections, so I was pretty upset about that. Obviously, I stopped using these lubricants.
I never got to use these anally, so I cannot report how they work in that respect. I think the thinness would deter me the most from that choice.
Follow-up commentary
After writing my review, I tried the "Mine" lubricant once more externally for masturbation. I was reminded of how much I dislike it (no surprise).

I really think that, if you are pondering purchasing this item, you should just spend your money elsewhere. There are much better lubricants out there, many higher quality choices for smaller price tags.

The awful sticky quality, the awful glycerin and honey, just . . . everything about KY Yours and Mine was a dunce for me. After trying it once more, I finally lost hope in using it even as a back-up lubricant. It dried mid-masturbation, and I ended up just washing it off. I mean, when you can get an 8-oz bottle of Maximus (water-based) or an 8-oz bottle of Better Sex Essentials (silicone) for LESS $$$ than this . . . should there be any question? Pass this one over. I haven't tried any other "cooling/warming" lubricants since this one scared me off, but I am absolutely sure there are better choices on EF, too.

I just bought these because I had a huge coupon for KY and used the "mine." I like the menthol feeling but needed a whole lot more than just "a drop or two," as they suggested.

Also, thanks for the heads up on the yeast infection! I'll definitely be diligent about cleaning up after using these.
