High Quality Hybrid
Liquid Silk feels great and can really go the distance. That small bit of silicone gives it great consistency and staying power, but also means that it isn't versatile enough to be my "go to" lube. If a hybrid lube is what you're looking for and you don't mind parabens, Liquid Silk is definitely worth it.

Liquid silk... the name says it all. There is only one word to really get a sense of the look and consistency of this lube: creamy. The opaque quality of Liquid Silk is less common in this landscape of clear lubes, and since the bottle itself is clear, what you see is what you get. Does this kinda look like a bottle of cum on your nightstand? Yes. Whether or not that is a positive or negative quality is up to you.
This is a hybrid lube, primarily water based with a slight bit if silicone, which is going to put it a cut above most any other water based lube performance wise. It is substantial, almost like body lotion. It isn't sticky or tacky, and it comes out very smoothly from the bottle's pump top. The ride lives up to it's name and is silky smooth the whole way through. It lasts a very long time and you won't need as much of it as you would a purely water based lube. I didn't need to reapply it for vaginal sex, but keep it close by for anal (as with any lube, even pure silicone). It has no discernible smell, and it tastes rather bitter.
Composition wise, Liquid Silk is a mixed bag. It is glycerin free, which is a plus, but what really makes it special is that it (along with it's brother, Maximus) is bio-static. If it comes into contact with fungi, yeast infections, or other bacteria action, it will stop them from spreading. This is a really nice feature for any orifice, but especially for anal sex. In fact, the combination of the bio-static quality and the silicone in this lube make it an especially great lube for anal.
However, this lube has one big ingredient downside: Parabens. If you or your partners are sensitive to parabens, Liquid Silk isn't for you.
Additionally, the silicone in this lube is a double edged sword. A tiny bit of silicone is still enough to react with and damage silicone toys. I even tried Liquid Silk with an elastomer toy, and it had a really weird bubbling reaction under the condom. I wouldn't use this lube with any rubber toy. Therefore, it only has a slight taste of the advantages silicone offers (thickness, longevity) and all of the drawback. In situations when I'm not using a silicone toy, why would I pick Liquid Silk over a pure silicone lube? This is my issue with hybrid lubes in general, not just this one. If a hybrid lube is what you're looking for, Liquid Silk is an excellent choice.
The silicone content also means Liquid Silk isn't going to be as easy to wash off as other water-based lubes. It will leave a slight residue if it is allowed to dry on something, but nothing that can't be washed off. Be careful with it around delicate fabrics.

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
Lately I am finding that Liquid Silk is my least used lube. I can't use it with any silicone (or elastomer) toys and when I'm not using silicone toys it makes much more sense to use something that is free of parabens. Who likes worrying about allergic reactions? There are plenty of products on the market that don't include those harmful ingredients and perform just as well, if not better (like silicone-based lubes). I've found that I want a lube that performs well with as few ingredients as possible. Liquid Silk has a long list with way too many potential issues.
