Astroglide is a waterbased lube which can be used with condoms, all toys and is easy to clean up. It's easily available nationwide in most retail and drug stores and is fairly cheap. It does get the job done, in that it is slick and provides lubrication, somewhat. For quickies, handjobs, fingering or shorter toy play sessions, I can see how Astroglide would work fine for some people. It absorbs very fast, so anything longer requires reapplications.

This lube is very thin, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. My first impression was that it is very similar to the consistency of natural vaginal lubrication and a little of this stuff tends to go a long way. It's very slick so if you accidentally get too much out of the bottle (which is very easy to do!), it can get very messy fast. Even though you only need a little to get a toy or a partner all ready to go, it gets absorbed very fast. I found that I had to stop and reapply before I was finished. Depending on how long I wanted to play with my toys, sometimes it would be multiple times. Adding more lube either at the start or when reapplying, just created a gloopy, sticky mess!

Even though it has a faint smell, it's barely noticeable. It reminds me a little of the cheap generic soap in public restrooms. The taste is very bitter and unpleasant so I wouldn't recommend using it if any oral is planned.

I wanted something that wasn't sticky and would last a long time without having to reapply. Sadly, Astroglide didn't fulfill either of these wants. Initially, the lube goes on slick and is almost like natural lubrication. It would be wonderful if this continued, but it starts to get absorbed and wear off after around 10-15 minutes. I mostly use this during toy play and, depending on my mood, I need a lube that lasts anywhere from 30mins-2hrs. Having to stop to reapply multiple times is a hassle, not to mention very messy. By the end of things, you either end up dry and sore or end up with sticky lube EVERYWHERE. Thankfully, it is waterbased and can be washed off easily with soap and water. I tried it a couple times while having regular vaginal sex with my boyfriend and it didn't really add any extra lubrication because it was absorbed incredibly fast.

The bottle has a flip top and squeezing the bottle can be quite tricky, especially if you already have lube on your hands! It seems like you either get too little or too much at one time, and if you need to stop to reapply, it can get very frustrating getting the right amount. A pump bottle would work a little better, but I would imagine that it would have it's own set of problems due to the thin consistency of the lube.
