Cheaper Moisturizers Are Comparable

This is a nice lubricant that absorbs nicely into my skin and performs fairly well. Its clever packaging looks rather classy. My main issue is the price - for the few advantages it offers, I'd rather just go with a cheaper lube that offers similar performance.

Use

This is a personal, water-based moisturizer meant for moisturizing your private parts and adding lubrication during intercourse or while using toys. In theory, I suppose it could be used for anal sex, but I wouldn't recommend that due to how thin it is. Since it is a water-based lubricant, it should be compatible with all types of toys.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This moisturizer is comparable in thickness to other water-based moisturizers such as Astroglide. I had some issues with it dripping off of toys, but I tend to expect that with water-based moisturizers of this type.

Taste / Aroma

Taste/Aroma is one area where Lelo Personal Moisturizer does have an advantage over something such as Astroglide. Its taste and smell are less intense - although, for me, that was never really an issue with many other moisturizers.

Performance

I've found the performance of Lelo Personal Moisturizer to be about on par with Astroglide. It lasts for quite a while - probably 10-15 minutes - without needing to be reapplied. Another area where it has an advantage over the "cheaper option" is that it absorbs into the skin much more nicely and doesn't feel as "gross" until you wash it off.

It also doesn't seem to cause the mild sensitivity and itching issues that cheaper moisturizers have caused after constant use.

I did not attempt to use this moisturizer for anal play, as I have other moisturizers that are specifically designed for that. Due to how thin it is and how quickly it absorbs into skin that's anywhere but my genitals, I don't think it would hold up very well.

Packaging

Packaging is definitely where Lelo has a leg up. The bottle comes packaged in a classy-looking (and subtle) black box with Lelo's text and logo on it. Of course, I threw the box away - I didn't need it - but some people may like to store their bottle of moisturizer in it because it looks nicer than just having a tube sitting on your shelf. Obviously, anybody who knows Lelo as a brand name is going to know that it's lube.

The tube itself is a rather clever "cap on bottom" design that will stand upright on its own and allow the fluid inside to settle on the bottom, which means you won't have issues getting that last bit of lubricant out of the bottle. The cap can easily be popped open with one hand. The cap is quite secure, and I never had my bottle leak even when I tossed a bunch of toys and stuff on top of it.

The bottle looks quite small for how much it claims to hold, so I was a bit worried - but it lasted me quite a while, possibly because of the clever bottle design that let me get the very last bit out.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Would make a nice gift

Special Features

Because it is a water-based lube, it's compatible with all types of play.

Personal comments

I like this lubricant - don't get me wrong. I like it quite a bit. It absorbs more nicely and it takes longer to cause sensitivity issues due to contact with my lady bits, whereas cheaper options such as Astroglide might cause some itching after marathon sessions or daily use. The packaging is nice - I really like how classy it looks. On the other hand, I'm not quite sure it's worth buying at twice the price as cheaper alternatives that honestly do the job just as well.

Experience

When I first got this lubricant, I put a dot on the back of my hand and rubbed it in. It absorbed quite nicely, and left my skin velvety smooth. I liked that, to be honest - it didn't leave my skin feeling "icky" the way cheaper lubricants tend to.

I put it to the test with several different toys, and found that it performed quite well. It's compatible with all of my toys, and lasts 10-15 minutes without needing to reapply. When I do have to reapply, I don't need to apply as much, as a little bit of additional moisturizer freshens up what I've already applied.
Follow-up commentary
I've gone through the entire tube, and I won't be buying more. Other lubes are comparable, and less expensive. I'm still looking for a really fantastic lube, and when I find it I won't mind spending the extra money. Unfortunately, Lelo Personal Moisturizer is not that lube.
