Astroglide review
Astroglide is a mediocre lube that will do in a pinch, but there are much more effective and pleasant water-based lubes out there.

Pros
Initially very slick, clean-feeling when used in small quantities
Cons
VERY thin, hard to keep where you want it, slickness doesn't last
Astroglide|Sexual Lubricants: Astroglide is one of the first sexual lubricants my husband and I used some 15 years ago, and I decided to give it another go. In my opinion, Astroglide is the sprinter of the lube community, not a long-distance marathon runner. It starts out slippery and slick, but its lubricating properties soon fade.
Astroglide is water-based, clear, but not entirely tasteless and odorless. It has a very slightly sweet scent, and the sweetness is far more pronounced in the taste. It’s not horrible, but you definitely know it’s there.
Astroglide has a very thin, watery consistency, so it can be difficult to place and keep it where you want it. I was covered with it pretty much from knees to belly-button by the time I was done! It starts out very slick and slippery, but these qualities disappear quite quickly as the lube is absorbed into the skin (if you use small quantities) or turns into a sticky mess (if you use large quantities). In either case, frequent reapplication is necessary.
I test my lubes with a fairly hefty, bulbous jelly vibe to see how the lube stands up. Astroglide made initial insertion a snap, but during thrusting it just kind of wore out and produced an uncomfortable amount of friction that made me have to re-lube and re-lube again. The lube is fairly easy to remove in small quantities, but again can get quite gloppy if you use it in large amounts (which you’ll probably have to for toy play).
Astroglide is much more effective for intercourse, in my opinion, and in small quantities it does somewhat mimic the body’s natural lubrication. It’s slicker, and can be stickier, but it’s not distracting if you don’t overdo it.
My toy cleaned up nicely afterwards with soap and water, but I needed a full bath, probably just because of the sheer amount I got on me. Really, when you’re used to a thicker lube, be careful with this stuff—it’ll flow everywhere!
Overall, Astroglide is effective enough, but requires too much reapplication and maintenance. It feels good at low quantities, but then doesn’t provide the amount of lubrication needed for jelly toy play.

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
Runny, stringy, can become sticky if you use too much. Pretty much all the qualities I try to avoid in a lube. Seemed great 15 years ago, but I can't really see any point in buying it today, when there are so many truly great lubes on the market.
