Silk a Vegan Can Get Behind!

This product is an excellent addition to sex when you just need a little help getting wet. It is very similar to natural lubrication and does not burn or sting. You can use it with your partner(s) or on your own. Either way, you'll be satisfied. If you want the slickness of silicone-based lube but don't want to deal with the messy cleanup afterwards, then go with Silk. It's the best of both worlds.

extremely useful review
Sliquid Silk is a hybrid lube that is both water and silicone-based. As such, it has a nice, smooth texture like silicone-based lube, but is easier to clean up because it is water-based, too. Silk is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free, and contains the following ingredients: purified water, plant cellulose (from cotton), isopropyl palmitate, polysorbate 20, dimethicone, emollient ester, and potassium sorbate. Note that these are not the ingredients listed on the Eden website. Silk is rather viscous and is extremely slick, and is pearly white in color. It actually looks a lot like semen. I could not detect any odor from the Silk during actual use, but when I put it on my finger and smell, I smell a kind of flowery, "clean" smell; it actually reminded me of laundry detergent. It has a very slight stickiness to it, but it really isn't very bad. I did not find that the Silk came out of the bottle cold like the Sliquid H2O did, and I was very pleased with that.

I was a bit hesitant to try the Silk because I didn't have the greatest experience with Sliquid's H2O lubricant. I decided to give it a go because it was highly discounted in a kit, and I don't regret it. I waited to use Silk until I was having a dry day so that I could really test its capabilities. After applying two small drops onto my partner's penis, he slid right it. Easy as that. I have used the Wet Platinum Premium and even it didn't work that well. There was no uncomfortable pinching or stinging, just slick bliss. After we get going for a little bit we both make a good amount of lubrication on our own, so I can't really tell how long this stuff lasts. For people who stay dry, you might have to reapply Silk. For us, though, it was the perfect thing just to give us a little boost. I have used this lube multiple times and am always pleased with its performance.

Because the Silk is a hybrid, I found that it cleaned up easier than pure silicone-based lubes. As I said, I have used the Wet Platinum Premium lube several times before, and I always have to go wash up in the tub because I can never get all of it off. I didn't have this problem with the Silk; it actually wiped up easily when I was finished. Even though it is a hybrid, it still is partly silicone-based, so please do not use it with silicone toys, as it can damage them. It is latex and rubber compatible, so you can use it with condoms.

Silk comes in a hard plastic bottle with a pretty purple label that has whimsical flowers on it. The bottle is a snap open top, and though I haven't had any problems with this particular bottle, I have experience with Sliquid's Splash leaking, and it is in the same type of bottle. Because of this, I would have to advise keeping Silk upright at all times.

Overall, I am rather pleased with the performance of Silk. It did not bother me like Sliquid's H2O did, and made those dry days much more comfortable.

I added this to a wish list a few days ago, I'm glad I read your review before buying and using just because I love the company! I had no idea it couldn't be used with silicone toys, I'd have been really sad if it ruin my favorite Jopen vibrating rings! Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I'm not sure how much damage it would do, but I definitely wouldn't risk it! Thanks for reading!

I think as long as its premium silicone it won't damage it so much. Spot testing is a good idea before using.

I have this and have used it only on water based lube toys. I would not want silicone toys ruined just in case. Thanks for sharing, I love this stuff.

I asked Tantus about using this particular lube & they said it was the favorite of several of their staffers for use with their silicone! She also said it should work with the premium brands like Leaf, Lelo & Jopen. I used it with all those & my Tantus and found it to be terrific with all of them, better than all water-based! I'd still use it except for my little allergy, but the toys were not affected! Let me say I have the old formula & I want to try this new one because they took out some things I think I can't use.
Thanks for the great review! I also find it does great with my natural lubrication, but if I am really dry, you are right, I need to reapply.
