A great lubricant, but a bit sticky for my taste.

I hate that I'm not in love with Organica. My main issues with this lubricant seem to be the little bit of sticky residue that sits atop my skin for an hour or two after applying and the need to reapply. It's not so much that I'm bothered by reapplying, but it won't leave a long slippery surface. I still use it, but I prefer Liquid Silk or Toko Aroma over this. Despite my feelings towards Organica, I'm sure it will be loved by many!

Use

Toko Organica is a water based lubricant great for intercourse and probably a miracle product for those who have major allergies, sensitivities to things like parabens. Toko Organica is latex safe and 100% organic.

INGREDIENTS: Water (aqua), Glycerin, Proanediol, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Na4 EDTA
As usual, I'll tell you to use this with caution or not at all if you are sensitive or allergic to any of the above ingredients.

This lubricant is great for your basic intimacy needs. It will work well for solo play, with or without toys and just fine for sex. As for oral sex, I wouldn't go there, but I imagine it's not going to kill you if you lick where the lubricant was previously applied. Even when it's absorbed and I lick it, it has an intensely bitter like taste. I don't like it and won't use it if oral sex is on the agenda, but it may not bother others. However, I prefer using Toko Aroma if we plan to have oral sex. This isn't an edible lubricant so I didn't expect it to tickle my tastebuds.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Toko Organica is somewhat runny, but when compared to Toko Aroma, it's thicker and a bit less runny. They both are clear in color, but have different properties. Aroma doesn't leave any residue behind on me, but does last forever. This lubricant however, leaves me a little bit sticky and it lasts almost as long as Aroma, but not quite. It feels very much like a high quality silicone lubricant and it retains it's silkyness for a good while. However, when using Organica during sex or with massaging any part of my body, reapplying once or twice is necessary.

The slick and slippery surface Organica creates is what I like most about this lubricant. I can't say it measures up to Liquid Silk or even Aroma, but it's a good lubricant for your basic needs.

(In photo: Toko Aroma on the right and Organica on left.) Aroma runs *much* quicker!

Unlike Toko Aroma or Liquid Silk, Organica does not seem to absorb into my skin so much as it just lies on top and feels sticky. It's certainly not as sticky as I.D. Glide or some of the other extreme sticky lubricants, but it's enough to bother me. I am extremely weird about any residue at all though so I imagine this wouldn't bother most people as badly.

It's thin, but seems to feel a little thicker once you begin rubbing. The nice slickness doesn't last as long as a silicone lubricant does. It will last through a short session, but not any longer than 20-30 minutes.

Unlike Toko Aroma, this stays in place pretty well. If you only apply it to the clitoris, it's not likely to end up at your butt crack. While it's a little runny, when applied, it won't begin to run immediately. You have time to get it where you want it. If it does happen to drip onto the bed, no worries! It doesn't stain!

Taste / Aroma

Organica has only a teeny tiny scent. In fact, it's so minimal that I could possibly be imagining it. It doesn't smell like anything in particular, but when I sniff closely, I smell something. Kind of like a tiny whiff fresh cucumber juice. The taste is very bitter and I don't like it. However, it's not edible so I wouldn't recommend tasting it anyways, but even after it's dried you will notice a taste when you kiss and nibble.

Performance

As with all lubricants, I have to compare this to my favorite, Liquid Silk. For me, it doesn't measure up, but they rarely do. It's a nice lubricant though. The reason I can't rave about it is because it didn't fit my personal preferences and well. I can't deny that it is a great lubricant though.

While it leaves me slightly sticky for a good while, it eventually absorbs a little, but some still stays on top of my skin. If I weren't so sensitive to residue, this wouldn't even bother me. It does clean up well though. A wet wash cloth will get everything right off including the taste. It doesn't leave me sticky enough to need a shower.

Liquid Silk lasts longer as does Toko Aroma. Organica tends to lose it's slick, slipperyness much faster. Liquid Silk and Aroma usually out lasts my partner and I whereas Organica doesn't. We have to reapply at least once, but never more than three times. It just thickens up after a lot of thrusting. I can say it's a high quality lubricant and certainly not a bad one.

For intercourse, this will make things slippery and wet, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone with severe dryness as it doesn't seem to be enough for that. It can be too thick at times. As long as you don't mind reapplying and you aren't extremely dry, this will do the trick for sure.

I never choose this lubricant when I'm using a vibrator or just fingers for clitoral stimulation. Mostly because it gets too thick too soon to create a nice, long lasting slick surface. This also means it's not going to be everyone's pick for male masturbation. If thick is what you're looking for, this will probably be perfect. However, the slick, slippery glide needed for stroking is lacking with this lubricant.

For body massaging, this won't cut it. However, Toko Aroma is wonderful for that! This just doesn't keep things slick long enough. I guess that's the main issue with Organica. It just won't keep you slick for long.

Packaging

Like most of Shunga's lubricants, Toko Organica also comes in a clear plastic bottle with a snap lid. I have to use both thumbs to push the lid open which isn't a problem, but worth noting. It does stay sealed well, but like I said in my Toko Aroma review, I worry that it will leak around the lid if it's not sitting up.

Toko Aroma comes in a nice 5.5 fl. oz. size bottle and since you don't have to reapply often, this will last quite a while. I have had it for two months and there's barely a dent in it!

I wouldn't travel with this bottle. Like I said, that lid does worry me. If you must travel with this, at least store it in a zip-loc bag. Your best option though, would be to put a small amount in a travel bottle.

The bottle is lovely as most Shunga products are. It's clear, but has a sticker on the back. You can see the sticker from the front since the lubricant is clear as well. There's a cartoonish image of a couple that until a few minutes ago, I thought was a flower! My eyes aren't the best. There's nothing dirty or distasteful about the image or packaging and I find these bottles to look kind of pretty in my basket!

It's discrete in my opinion. For others, the word "lubricant" may not be. The back of the bottle has a small bit of info in different languages. It mentions that Toko Organica is made with pure vegetable glycerin and a natural corn by-product, both certified organic. Then it goes on to say "its delicate texture and endless sensual lubricity intensify sensations for prolonged moments of intimacy... warning: if irritation occurs discontinue use and wash immediately."

This is easy to use and probably one of the most discrete lubricants I've encountered. I never need to squeeze the bottles from the Toko line. I just open the lid and tilt the bottle and it will run out of the hole into my hand.

Experience

This review is kind of a challenge for me since Organica truly is a great lubricant, but it wasn't something that I just loved like Liquid Silk or Aroma. I'm pretty sure it will be a favorite for many people, but I happen to be so darn picky about residue. It does leave my skin soft once it's been washed away, but adding this to my bath water doesn't soften me like Aroma does.

I will use it and I don't hate it, but I do prefer Liquid Silk or Aroma.

My partner didn't mind Organica. It was just a lubricant to him. I guess he really doesn't have a big opinion on it except he likes that it didn't leave him sticky or messy.
