K-Y jelly is a water-based lubricant. It can be used as a lubricant for everything, such as penetrative sex, vaginal or anal toys, or masturbation. Water-based lubricants are compatible with all toys. Water-based lubricant is typically the only lubricant you want to use with toys made out of silicone, because silicone lubricant can degrade silicone toys.

The ingredients are as follows:

Glycerin
Hydroxymethylcellulose
Chlorhexidine Gluconate
Gluconolactone
Methylparaben
Sodium Hydroxide

It is possible that some of these ingredients may cause an allergic reaction in people. For instance, the glycerin and methylparaben. The Chlorhexidine can also cause an allergic reaction in people. I would like to take this time to get rid of a myth. Glycerin and Methylparabens are not bad for you. Methylparabens are a preservative. They prevent bacteria from growing in the jelly. You would not want to put bacteria infested lubricant inside of you -- you could get an infection. It is possible to have an allergic reaction to these products, though, and if that is the case, you will want to avoid them. However, they are very safe to have in there; they have been tested and researched.

Water-based lubricants are compatible with latex condoms. It will not degrade the latex like an oil based lubricant will.

I personally use K-Y jelly when playing with anal toys. I think it could be a little thick for penetrative sex. With a butt plug, where the object is not moving very much, I find the jelly works really well. It provides a nice thick layer that lets the toy slide in easily, and it keeps it comfortable. However, this lubricant could be used for any sexual act.

K-Y Jelly is a jelly. Its consistency is similar to jam or jelly that you would spread on toast. It is very thick, and it stays wherever you place it. I put a drop on my finger and put it upside down, and it did not drop to the floor. I think the thick texture makes it great for anal toys. When using something anally, I want something that is really going to lubricate well.

I have only used this product anally, but I find the texture to be quite nice. As it is a jelly, you get a nice layer of it, so all of the plugs I have used glide in very nicely.

The bottle makes it quite easy to get the lubricant where you want. It has a flip top, and it comes out a small opening when you squeeze it. Because it stays in place so well, you do have to spread it around a little bit. This makes you get a little bit on your hands, which is mildly annoying.

I find that with toys in use, the lubricant stays nice and smooth. However, when the toy is removed and the lubricant is exposed to the air, it dries out and gets a little bit sticky.

When using a metal anal toy, I do prefer a silicone lubricant over this one. I find that they are nicer, but this is my lubricant of choice for all my silicone toys. I think that the thick consistency is better than the Astroglide I have for anal use. However, the thick texture does not lend itself to thrusting motions. So, I do not think that this would be the lubricant of choice for penetrative sex, or masturbation.

When this lubricant is placed right up to my nose, I find that it has a very tiny aroma. It kind of smells wet, and a little sweet. If it is farther away than right under my nose, I cannot smell it.

This toy has an ever so slightly sweet taste to it. However, it is pretty bland, and barely noticeable. I would prefer to avoid it if I were giving a woman oral, but if it was present it would not pose any problem or concern. I think I just prefer natural lubricants flavour over this one.

I have had butt plugs inserted for around 30 minutes using this product, and I found it to work great. After removing the butt plug, I did find another application of lubricant was necessary to re-insert it.

I put a pretty decent layer of lubricant on my anal toys when using this, so after I removed the toy I did wash off the toy. I would never not wash an anal toy after use for obvious hygienic reasons, so this was not an inconvenience.

The product cleans up very well. I have wiped my hands on towels after spreading this around a toy. After washing the towels, there are no stains or discolorations. It is water-based, so it should wash out of everything easily.

My favorite part about this product is the nice thick layer you can get with it. It makes anal toys fun to use. They slide in easily with no drag, and are very comfortable. My least favorite part about the lubricant is that it does get sticky after use.

The product is packaged in a white box that looks almost identical to the bottle it comes with. I think the package is fairly discreet. There is no sexual imagery on it. I think some people are familiar with K-Y jelly. It is a common product is pharmacies. It is used for more than sex, too. It is recommended for rectal and vaginal suppositories, too. So, I think that if someone sees the bottle, it is not embarrassing because it is a common product.

The bottle has a small opening that the lubricant comes out of when squeezed. It also has a snap top to close it when it is not being used. I have never experienced any leaking with this product. It also always dispenses the amount I want. It is a good design. It sits upright on the lid. This is nice, because it does not tip over (which would maybe allow it to leak). I think that this bottle would be fine to travel with. I would not expect it to leak, but I would place it in a Ziploc bag still, just to be safe.

The bottle has instructions, which are very simple. You basically apply as needed, and as often as you need it.

This product does not have any special features. It is a very plain water-based lubricant
