You're Not Getting MY Pot of Gold!
Gold Dust is an absolutely beautiful product that can be used both on the body and with makeup. It has a yummy vanilla smell, though sadly it is not flavored. Once you get into the right light, everyone will notice the golden shimmer to your skin!

Pros
Pretty, affordable, delicious smell
Cons
Puff could be a bit better quality
I am most likely addicted to body dusts. When I came up with some spare cash, I decided I had to try the Gold Dust body shimmer. I am definitely pleased with my purchase.
Gold Dust comes in a little plastic 28 gram jar. The actual jar is a solid white plastic and the lid is a shiny gold plastic. The powder puff is housed under the lid. The jar does not really contain any useful information, with the exception of the manufacturer’s web site and the statement that this is made with all natural ingredients. I think the jar would definitely be discreet. It looks like a fancy cream jar or something, and even if someone does open it, it just looks like loose makeup powder.
Ingredients:
Talc, Mica/Titanium Dioxide and/or Mica Iron Oxide, corn starch, honey extract, and fragrance.
The powder itself is awesome, though it can get slightly messy getting it out. The jar has to be shaken a bit before opening to make sure the powder isn’t all on one side and won’t spill all over the place when it is opened. I just gently shake it from one side to the other and VERY slowly open it.
The powder has a nice soft feel to it. It feels just like my makeup powder when I am rubbing it on, which is a loose mineral powder. It rubs on very smoothly and rubs in enough so that the powder itself is not visible, but the gold dust is. The dust is like other glitter though. It gets all over everything and all in the air. That takes a bit to settle down. There is a good amount of shimmer to this, though it does not look tacky at all. It would look beautiful on probably any part of the body. Because it is a glittery dust, it might not get noticed unless you are in direct sunlight, though. The only area I’d avoid is around the vagina, since this could be irritating to the skin there.
The back of the jar says the honey in it is moisturizing, though I have yet to feel any moisturizing effect from this.
Gold Dust has a delicious scent. When I open the jar, it smells exactly like pure vanilla extract, which instantly reminds me of baking Christmas cookies. I didn’t notice any flavor to it, though. Licking it just gives me a feeling of having powder on my tongue, which dissolves pretty quickly.
I do find this somewhat difficult to clean off, just because it is full of shimmery bits. I had to wash my hands at least 5 times to get the powder off of them the first time I tried it out. A lot of rinsing and rubbing with a towel eventually got it, though. I would recommend washing wither with a makeup remover or just a body wash and warm water.
I do not particularly care for the applicator included with the dust. It is a very cheap furry leopard or cheetah print thin puff. It is exactly like the ones you get with a pressed powder compact. It might be easier, to get a feather brush or maybe a handled blush brush to apply this. It could also be slightly less messy, since you don’t have to stick some of your fingers and this little puff into the jar.
Overall, I think the Gold Dust would make a good gift to yourself or a friend. It is really pretty once it is applied and can be used to make makeup a bit more shimmery. It is not really a sex product, so really I don’t see anyone questioning it.

Experience
I have applied this both to my body and over makeup with a couple of different brushes. It goes on pretty well, though as I stated before, it may not be noticeable until you get into the right light. I would definitely try blending this in with blush or a bronzer. For the body, I like the idea of accenting body parts with it, like putting it on the neck and cleavage when wearing a lower cut top.
Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
I just thought of this now, after having thrown a fit because of a lack of green clothing to wear for St. Patrick's Day and just wearing green eyeshadow. This would have worked great! I could have been the pot of gold, but I wasn't. Either way, I still love this stuff. I would love to see a silver dust, too. I'd definitely wear this more if it was silver, since I feel cooler tones look better on me.

Thank you for viewing Gold dust – powder discontinued review page!
I have something very similar to this and I generally use a blush brush for it, good call!
