This coochy made me itch!
I was iffy about trying this shaving cream out, but decided to go for since it isn’t that expensive and I had points to spare. Now that I’ve tried it out on my legs, I’m not sure I will ever want to use it on my “coochy”!
Published:
Pros
Should last for a while, plastic bottle will not rust, does not clog razor
Cons
Irritating, not best on sensitive skin, some may not like the smell
I had seen many reviews on this product and it had been on my wishlist for a while but I had some trepidation about trying it, particularly because I am prone to getting infections so I was unsure about risking it with using a different product to shave my genital area. I decided to go for it anyway, being that it wasn’t that expensive and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
The ingredients on the label are: Water (eau), Cetyl Alcohol, Centimonium Bromide, Stearyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, PEG-60 Lanolin, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Panthenol, Allantonin, Phenoxylethanol, Methylisothiazollnone, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance (Parfum).
Copying the label verbatim (including the grammar) “Suggested Use: Wet Area to be Shaved. Using Hands, Smooth Coochy Shave Crème to skin…Shave & Rinse. Follow With Coochy After Shave Protection Mist & After Shave Powder to Maintain that Sexy, Smooth, Just-Shaved Look.”
It is made in the U.S.A. No animal testing. Sugar-Free. Safe for all skin types. Paraben-Free. Sulfate-Free. I especially like to know that it is sugar-free since that would definitely cause an infection, and nobody should really use products that contain sugar on their vagina.
It also claims to prevent shave bumps and ingrown hairs. It says that it could be used as a body shave and hair conditioner after shampooing. I am picky about what products I put in my hair, so I would not use it for that. It says that it is great for “intimate shaving”, legs, underarms, face & body. The label describes the scent as an “Alluring Array of Light Florals with a Hint of Baby Powder Freshness”. Upon unscrewing the pump from the bottle to smell it, I initially thought it smelled a bit too much like an elderly woman for me. I noticed that it smelled a lot like baby powder with a floral smell.
One good thing about this is that you will never have to worry about the bottle rusting and leaving a ring on your bathtub since it is all plastic. When I got in the shower to shave, I pumped maybe 3 pumps worth (bigger than the size of a quarter) into my hand to shave my leg and realized that this stuff would last me a while since even with using that amount it wasn’t much compared to the bottle. I smelled it once it was out of the bottle and in my hand and it was tolerable, not very strong and a lot less of an old lady smell in with the water running. The amount I used at first was more than enough, so I used about half as much on my other leg. The consistency was like that of a lotion or hair conditioner, and went smoothly over my legs. Given the consistency, I would expect it to clog my razor but it did not at all.
I got some nicks on my leg from shaving, but that is to be expected. However, after I had dried my legs and been out of the shower for a few minutes I couldn’t help but notice that my legs itched, even more so where the little nicks were. I couldn’t help but think that I was glad to test this out on my legs before shaving my genitals with it. Also, although I have sensitive skin, I have never had a problem with my regular shaving cream irritating my skin or making me itch with shaving. I figured the itching would go away after a few minutes, so I didn’t worry about it too much. My legs ended up being itchy for a little over an hour after getting out of the shower. It didn’t really have me going crazy and scratching at my legs or running to grab the cortisone, but it was irritating. While sitting at my computer waiting for the itching to go away, I thought about how glad I was that I did not jump into using Coochy on my coochy!
Once the itching had pretty much stopped, I ran my hand across my legs and they were smooth. Smooth, but dry. I find my regular shaving cream to be far more moisturizing than this stuff. I felt a need to apply some of my lotion for soothing sensitive skin to my legs, not only to ease the slight irritation but also to make my legs feel less dry.

Experience
Overall, I was not blown away by this product at all. In fact, I really don’t plan on using it again. I would never want to use it for “intimate shaving” after this, and I don’t like how it made my skin feel. I figured that if this went well I would try the Coochy After Shave Powder, but given this experience I am not as interested in that product as I had been before. I will likely be giving this shave crème to a friend, I would feel bad throwing it away and don’t feel like having it sit around if I am never going to use it.
Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
I really was not a fan of this shave creme at all, which is sad since the reason I was so interested in it was all of the reviews that spoke so highly of it! After my experience, I was not interesting in testing it out again at all. I ended up giving it to one of my friends, I just could not deal with being itchy again. I have not heard from her about how it worked out for her, I'm not even sure she's used it yet. Though I'm assuming that if it had the same effect on her that it did on me she would probably tell me.

Sometimes I use Pure Silk shaving cream because it is usually cheapest, but I have been using Skinitmate for a few months. I have it in kiwi and for dry skin and they both work really well.
