The Candle is Great, but I Picked a Sour Scent
DONA's Massaage Candle will emit a fragrance while you wait to use the warm oil on your partner's body, or your own. The massage oil feels amazing when it is warm and absorbs into the skin nicely making it softer than before.

Pros
Firm candle, High quality oil, Works well for massages, Feel great
Cons
Pomegranate version, No pour spout or spoon, Does take a little while to absorb
Use:
My partner and I still haven't finished using our first massage candle, but at a sale price of $3, I didn't want to pass up trying this for dirt cheap. Plus, I figured if it sucked as a massage candle, it could still be burnt just for the smell, right? Wrong. The massage factor is great. It's the smell I can't get past! This is my second experience with a massage candle. The wax is more massage friendly on this one, but I wish I had chosen a different scent. Oh well! The oil softens tough patches of skin and smooths dry areas. The oil doesn't get too hot to use immediately and goes a long way. It doesn't leave me feeling grimy and the scent of the candle permeates really well. I totally recommend this candle, just get something other than the pomegranate.
This soy candle has a lot of great ingredients: Glycine Soja Wax, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Oil, Laminaria Digitata (Algae) Extract, Nymphaea Caerulea (Blue Lotus) Flower, Fragrance
-Glycine Soja Wax: Soybean wax
-Grape seed oil: Skin-Conditioning Agent
-Algae Extract: Fights cellulite! Awesome!
-Blue Lotus Flower: Aphrodisiac
Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity
The thing I like about this candle versus the first massage candle I tried is that this one is very solid. It still produces a lot of oil, but doesn't have to turn to mush to do so. Rubbing my finger over the top, there is a little transfer but not much and the wax doesn't feel cheap.
Once it has been burning a few minutes, oil will emerge from the wax. It stays very fluid even when a much cooler finger pokes in and removes some of the wax. It won't instantly film like a candle. It acts exactly like a very fine oil. It's surprisingly thick even when it is freshly played with.
Taste / Aroma
Available scents: Blue lotus, Acai, Mangosteen, Pomegranate, Goji berry, and Camu camu.
I got the pomegranate because that's the scent I have for another DONA product and I like it for that. Here, it doesn't smell the same at all. It's really strong and harsh on my nose. It's a really hard scent to describe as well. It sort of reminds me of laundry detergent and raw flower petals mixed together. That makes it sound good, though. I wouldn't describe this as a good smell. It's not nasty or anything, it just doesn't please my nose. I wish I had chosen a different scent. This candle won't keep from trying that scent in a different DONA product, however.
Don't eat this!

Experience
To use light the candle for at least 10 minutes. 5 minutes doesn't really produce enough wax. I found that over 20 minutes produces a bit too much for my partner and I. While the candle burns enjoy the scents it produces. When a good amount of oil has formed, blow out the candle. It's very important that you blow out the candle and wait30 seconds. If you don't the wax could burn you if you apply it to your skin.
It doesn't have a spoon or spout to dispense the oil. Carefully tilt the tin to allow a few drops to fall into the palm of your hand or onto the area you wish to spread it on. I wouldn't work with more than that at a time. A few drops will cover a forearm or calve pretty well. Move quickly at first to spread the oil and then slowly to kneed it into the muscles. It lasts a decent amount of time and spreads easily. For a little while after it will make the skin feel a little tacky, but it goes away as it absorbs into the skin.
As the oil is dropped onto the skin and spread around the warmth is incredibly relaxing. There's nothing else like it. Even a warm stone massage doesn't do the trick. Unfortunately, the warm feeling doesn't last very long unless you use much larger amount of oil. As the oil stays on the skin is absorbs really well. About a half hour later there is no trace of it other than the skin feeling a bit softer. By this point, the smell of the candle can fill a small room. If you don't like the smell, vent the room! I had to because this scent gives me a bit of a headache after a while.
I'm not sure exactly how long the candle wax takes to harden again, but it's less than an hour for sure. The unused oil evaporates in part and the rest absorbs back into the candle. There really is little clean up needed. As long as you use a small amount each time, it shouldn't make a mess or make you feel messy.
Sorry for the blur! This is after about 20 minutes of burning.
Packaging:
The candle comes in a decorative tin perfect for gift giving. It has a pretty purple label with lace pattern that has information about the product and its uses on the sides. The bottom tells you how to use the product. The tin has a removable tin top. When it arrives, Eden will have placed it in a plastic bag so it doesn't get on anything else during shipping. The tin contains 4 ounces of the candle. It'll last plenty of sessions before it runs out.
If it weren't for the scent and amount of time it takes for this to absorb fully, I'd be giving this 5 stars. I'm docking it only 1. I'd buy this again, just in a different scent.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
Because I'm not huge on the scent of this particular one, I have not used it again for massages. However, I have noticed that it does have a good amount of burning life!

thanks for the review

I have the acai and didn't like the scent, either. It's odd, since other products in this line seem to smell much better than the candles!

Excellent detail, thank you!!
