Use

The Cake Brown sugar scrub is a delightful way to treat yourself to a spa like facial scrub and rid of black heads and dead skin. It's course sugar grains are rough enough to rid of those black heads and dead skin cells but are still gentle enough to leave your skin feeling soft, no matter where on your body you wish to use it.

This product is ideal for those who soap is just not enough to remove skin and deep down dirt. Soap and body wash with surly clean the dirt and oil off the top of your skin, but what about getting deep down in to those pores and ridding of all that flaky dead skin? Getting a deep down clean helps rid of those nasty black heads that turn to pimples and refresh your skin allowing it to be healthy.

One trick for having healthy glowing skin is to remove all the dead and damaged layers on top. Your dermal layer of skin has many many layers of skin cells. Those dead layers are making your skin dry out and crack and it's not allowing the healthy growing skin under it to pick up vital nutrients. With this sugar scrub, it helps remove those dead layers and let your new and healthy skin shine through.

To use, simply wash your face as normal. After your face is washed, scoop out a little amount of the sugar scrub to your hands and rub around on your skin, best is circular motions, in areas you with to treat. It is gentle enough for you face, and even feet and elbows. After you have scrubbed the areas, rinse with water and it will remove the scrub as well as and dead skin cells and left behind dirt.

Even though most associate bath products with women, this product can be enjoyed by any gender type that wishes to remove dead skin with a lovely scent. Being a bit pricey, some may not see this as an every day use, but it is quite nice for a relaxing in home spa evening. I myself use it often for my face.

My skin is very sensitive and loves this product. It is also Gluten free.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This product is both course and oily. It is composed of large grained brown sugar that is coated in an oily mixture in the jar. The oily mixture makes it move and scrub very nicely and easily and the thick grains make it somewhat rough and effective to remove the dead skin. Both work very well together.

When you pick up the product with your fingers you will see it is mostly the sugar texture in the jar. A lot of the oils soak to the bottom but are still enough through the whole jar to be effective. It is very easily picked up with your fingers, though too much pressure can cause it to fall apart everywhere. As you apply, the lovely oils stay very nicely and help hydrate your skin.

Taste / Aroma

This particular one, the "Desserted Island", is infused with lovely Tahitian vanilla and coconut for a nice relaxing scent. When you sniff the jar as a whole, it does still smell good but not as well as after you scrub your skin. To me it smells even a little fruity, but I still sense the vanilla and coconut.

As for the taste, it's really not advertised to be edible. However, being make up of sugar and oils, if you get some in your mouth it will not kill you. The actual grains are indeed real sugar, so they will not harm you and will probably leave a bit of a sweet taste on your skin.

Performance

After it fully dries and absorbs, which does not take long at all, you will feel your skin being softer and healthier. After only one use I already noticed a big difference in my face and I loved it. Even without using the scrub for a couple days, I could still feel the softness in my skin though it does stay softer longer and feels softer if used more often than every couple days.

As you are applying you will indeed notice the oils and the sugar both. Even with the roughness, it's still quite gentle with the oils to not harm sensitive areas. When you rinse with water, you face will feel oily. The scrub itself easily rinses off with water, but the oils left behind stay a bit and help your skin. If you do not like it, you can pat dry with a towel. However, if you want some extra moisture, you can leave and the oil will absorb very nicely in to your skin.

Even though I was not fond of the oil feel my first use, I quickly got used to it after I realized how fast it absorbs in my skin after the shower. I love the feel it leaves my skin and how clean and healthy my face looks. Some however may not like the oil feel.

Packaging

The scrub does come in a 21 oz jar and the scrub itself does stay in quite well. However, I have notice that no matter what, the oils seem to leak out of the jar even with the lid kept on tight. It does not cause harm to the product, but does get annoying and does get the oily mixture everywhere if in a bathroom bad or drawer.

    • Leaky container
    • Would make a nice gift
Follow-up commentary
Oh, I just adore this still. I only use it for my face for the most part so I still have at least have my tub. It works so nicely, especially in this cold weather, to help keep my skin nice and soft and un-flaky.

It's a nice product, but I would never spend that much money on a sugar scrub! I make my own, and it's so much cheaper. Feel free to PM me if you want the recipe.
