This throe will protect any surface from potential damage from bodily fluids. It also makes clean up after sex so easy you'll be asleep in seconds. Just pull it off the bed, roll it up, and toss it aside until you are ready to put it in the wash. But, if you value comfort, look elsewhere.
The throe is marketed to protect the bedsheets, or other areas where you may have sex, from any bodily fluids that may mess your sheets. It says that this is especially useful for female ejaculate. What a great idea--have sex and you don't have to change the sheets or sleep on the wet spot! Love it!
Another way it can be used is for bed wetters of any age. This is thin enough to be placed between the sheet and the mattress or on top of the mattress. It is pretty enough and large enough so that young children will not feel embarrassed by having to sleep on a protective pad.
This throe is 54" X 71". It is composed of 3 layers. The 1st layer is a black and white zebra stripe soft microfiber. The middle layer is a waterproof moisture barrier, and the final is black satin. The exact fibers that make up the throe are not identified. It is machine washable in cold water and can be machine dried on low heat, making it easy to care for. The craftsmanship is evident. It is an extremely well made item, and I think it will last a very long time, even with frequent and heavy use. Washing makes the microfiber softer and softer.
This throe is quite thin--the 3 layers are much thinner than an average blanket. It is less than 1/4" so do not expect to use it as padding on a hard surface.
This performs 100% as the company tells you it does. It is easy care, low maintenance and protects a rather large area from a variety of fluids. I have a queen size bed and it completely covers the mattress--adequate space to have sex. The problem comes when you are on it and moving around. The pad will wrinkle and fold up on itself, making it uncomfortable. It feels like you are moving over a soft blanket that has rocks underneath. To try and resolve that issue, I sewed some elastic loops on all 4 corners and anchored them to the mattress. This didn't help--my idea was a flop. The loops popped off and we were back in the same place. This happens if you use the softer microfiber side up or the stiffer satin side face up.
The Liberator Safari Throe comes folded in a clear plastic box. The throe is very discreet and no one would identify it as being used in a sexual manner. The printed cards that shine through the plastic are obviously all about sex. The front shows a busty beauty scantily clad in a g-string and bra and refers to the throe as bedroom adventure gear. The back shows a man/woman couple in the midst of what appears to be foreplay--the man is much more interested that the woman!
The plastic box is good for storing. It is hard to fold the throe the same way it came and it does not fit back in as well as when it came but you can store it in the box. I choose not to. It is kept in the bedroom closet and pulled out as needed. If it is left in the living room and we have company, it is totally discreet.
The inserts in the packaging indicate how and where they suggest using the throe and it is amazingly clear. They suggest it be used to protect areas from sexual body fluids but it can be used as a moisture barrier for many other things.
This is a very easy care, low maintenance item. Toss it in the machine, use cold water and then toss it in the dryer on low. I recommend using a dryer sheet to decrease static cling as the microfiber seems to attract a lot of lint.
I can see how it would bunch up--like a sheet that is just spread out on top of another sheet, there is nothing to anchor it in place. Good job.

We want to buy one of these--debating between this one (its the nicest looking) and the posh (softest). Hmmmm...what to do, what to do!

Great first review! Welcome to Eden. I have only two comments.
First of all, you said "The exact fibers that make up the throe are not identified." The product page says that it's made of plush and satin. You identified the satin so that's fine but I don't recall you mentioning the plush. I'm not sure what the middle part is made of, though. I assume it had a tag attached so it's very strange that it didn't say what the materials were. That's not your fault, of course.
My second comment has to do with your pros and cons. You listed two different cons: "moves and crumples" and "uncomfortable". It was hard to differentiate between these twos because of a lack of a comma or similar separation. You might want to separate your thoughts in future reviews. Unless, of course, you meant that its "moves and crumples, making it uncomfortable"; In that case, it would have been better written as I just did. Other than that, it was a wonderful review and I rated you highly.

Nazaress I edited this review and I'll go to bat for him. I don't feel a comma is needed. Each thing is placed on its own line. I allow my students to have their own writing style and if that's how he chooses to write his cons, I didn't see any reason to change it. He meant it moves and crumples, and it also is uncomfortable. I'm sorry you read it differently than it is written which is how it was meant.
I thought plush was an adjective not a noun, so I didn't think to have him add it. My bad.

@Nazaress---"satin" and "plush" are not fabrics but are "descriptive" terms (adjectives because the terms describe a noun). My best guess would be that the fabric is composed mostly of polyester with some plastic for the middle layer. The middle layer is most likely the waterproof barrier. If you have other questions, please contact me directly.
Thanks for the comment--it is nice to know that someone is really reading my review and not just looking at a few words.
