Relaxation in a Bottle

If you like the idea of taking a bath in beautiful scented, colored water, you will love the sensual chromotherapy line from Dona. It softens the skin and helps you relax, not just through your sense of smell, but your sense of sight as well. Also, it is fun to take a bath in colored water for a change!

Use

The Dona sensual chromotherapy liquid is designed to color your bath water and give it a nice scent. I tried the camu camu scent, which is green in color. It is a wonderful addition to a nice relaxing bath. Aside from just being kind of fun and pretty to look at, the point of coloring the bath water comes from the idea of chromotherapy. This is the idea that different colors can influence your mood and balance your energy. The camu camu version is green, which is tied to relaxation, balance, and harmony. I do find the green color to be very relaxing, so I love using it in a bath when I just want to unwind and forget a bad day. The scent is light and very fresh. It smells like green should, in my opinion, and I will elaborate on this more later. It isn't really designed to have many distinct benefits for the skin, however the bottle does say "bring radiance to your skin," and I feel like it has some slight moisturizing properties.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The consistency of this product is watery; it is very similar to food coloring with fragrance added. It is pretty much dyes and fragrances dissolved in water and a little oil. It isn't thick like a bath oil is. It pours very freely, so you may want to measure it out using the cap, so that you don't pour too much into your bath water. I have done my best to not get it on my skin directly from the bottle, so I can't really tell you how it feels. If it gets on your skin, it will leave a slight stain, but it washes off quite easily. I've had bits splash on me while I was putting it in the tub, and any stains were gone by the time I finished my bath.

Taste / Aroma

I love the way the camu camu line from Dona smells, and this is no exception. As I said earlier, it smells much like I feel the color green should smell -- light and fresh. It reminds me of wet plants in a shady forest. I can detect slight vanilla undertones, and it is slightly sweet and floral smelling, but not cloying. Straight from the bottle, it has a slight scent of Play Doh, like the camu camu bath salts do, but like those, this smell isn't there once it dissolves in the bath. There really aren't any particular scent that I can detect in it, other than the vanilla undertone that I am familiar with. There is, perhaps, a little gardenia.

I haven't tasted it, and neither should you. It isn't edible!

Performance

This product will last as long as your bath does, although the scent may linger a little at the end of a long bath. The color will not linger, though. However, the color will also not stain your tub, which is great. I spilled a little on the side of my tub straight from the bottle, and even that didn't stain. All it took was a little water and it came right off. I was a little worried that my tub might take on a green tinge after I used it, but it doesn't even leave a residue that needs to be rinsed off. As I mentioned, a bottle can last for quite a few baths. I've probably used it five or six times, using between two to four cap fulls a bath, and I still have almost half the bottle left. It does have some oil in it, and ehtylhexylglycerin which is used as a moisturizer, and I feel that it does help moisturize my skin better than plain bath water or a bubble bath would. My skin doesn't come out with a green tint, either! I don't feel like I have to rinse it off or take a shower to wash any residue from this off my skin.

The ingredients are water, fragrance, PPG Buteth-26, hydrogenated castor oil, Camu came fruit powder, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexlyglycerin, and food safe dyes. Ethylhexylglycerin can irritate peoples skin, so if you have a sensitivity to products containing it, you may want to avoid using the chromatherapy line.

Packaging

Like the other products in the Dona line, the chromatherapy liquid comes packaged very nicely. It comes in a bottle with a pretty white label with a floral lace pattern. They are very discreet, with the only words on the bottle that you might not want people seeing is "aphrodisiac" and "sensual," so all in all it isn't something that you wouldn't want sitting out in your bathroom. The bottle screws closed tightly, so I wouldn't worry about it spilling. Of course, if you want to take it with you on a trip, I would definitely put the tightly closed bottle in a plastic bag before packing it. Better safe than sorry, after all, since it is a fairly concentrated dye. It may not stain skin or your tub, but it could probably stain clothes if a bottle opened in a suitcase.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Does not leak
    • Would make a nice gift

I think that it would be a lot of fun to bathe in different colored water, though I probably wouldn't do it for the relaxation, haha. Cheers!

I have yet to try mine. I have the Goji berry scent. I may just have to pop mine open at some point. Thanks for sharing!

Nice review! I snagged some bottles awhile ago. I'm really sad to see it's discontinued here. I liked poring it in the same scent of bubble bath just because having a colored bath was....different, lol!
