Power of Suggestion?

The fragrance of this pheromone-laced perfume oil lifts my mood. While it won't convince your crush to sleep with you, it smells so good it just might facilitate some meaningful interaction.

Use

I think the best way to utilize this bubbly fragrance is with an open mind. Nothing you wear is likely to make someone who hates you change their mind. I do, however, believe perfumes can have influential qualities. This one is so sweet and perky, I actually picture the most popular girl in my high school when I think of who might wear it.

Pure Instinct perfume oil could have been her secret, but it won't turn an awkward wallflower into the prom queen. However, scent is one of our most powerful senses. It's not far-fetched to believe this oil just might influence the wearer to be more bubbly and outgoing. Plus, people just like others who smell good. This is a "happy" scent that's a pleasure to smell. It's light enough to be appropriate just about anywhere, from professional settings to social gatherings.

Because Pure Instinct is a perfume oil rather than an alcohol-based spray, I find it doesn't trigger my allergies and my partner doesn't wretch when he kisses where I applied it.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This is an oil-based perfume, so it's rich and easy to apply. It doesn't feel greasy at all, but it doesn't leave my skin dry like some alcohol-based perfumes do. Dipping the plastic wand into the bottle gives me a good amount of perfume to work with, though I do have to do this a couple times to reach my desired level of scent. My skin seems to just drink this stuff. Being oil-based, Pure Instinct will stain clothing if you don't let it absorb before getting dressed.

There are no ingredients listed on the bottle at all, which is disconcerting. A lot of perfume oils use things like sweet almond oil as a base, so be mindful if you have allergies. It does mention that it contains "pheromones and essential oils." I wish the manufacturers didn't feel the need to be so secretive.

Taste / Aroma

Although I tend to shy away from sweeter scents, I like how Pure Instinct smells. It's not an overpowering aroma, but it's definitely noticeable. It smells clean, sweet, and fresh. It's not floral at all, and leans heavily toward fruity/citrus. Be aware that this is an incredibly sweet perfume. It's marketed to anyone regardless of gender, but I think it is more feminine.

I know it's a commonly-held belief that pheromone-laced perfumes don't have any smell of their own (they morph into different scents depending on the wearer's chemistry, supposedly). However, nothing in my body is going to make an odourless oil smell like a fruit smoothie. The scent is definitely there when you smell it directly from the bottle.

Performance

Although I did need to refresh my perfume once or twice throughout the day, I find Pure Instinct lasts quite awhile on my skin. Oils are very good like that. In fact, I could smell whiffs of Pure Instinct on my skin when I woke up the next day, and it only completely disappeared when I took a shower.

I wore this many times around my partner, and he really seems to like it without noticing I'm wearing a new perfume. We've been going through a dry spell for numerous reasons, but when I secretly wear this, he is very forward with me. I know it sounds incredibly cheesy, but he literallty can't seem to keep his hands off of me. Funny, though, he never says "Mmm, you smell good" with this one like he does with many of my other perfumes.

Unfortunately, the world doesn't seem as swayed by my new scent. I didn't get free groceries when I went to the store with this on, and nobody offered to make me famous when I wore this out to karaoke. I'm pretty gregarious when I'm out, so I didn't really have anything to compare to--besides, drunk people talk to me when I forget to shower just the same as when I smell good.

I think closer contact is needed with pure Instinct. Perfume oils tend to be a more intimate application, not as far-reaching as alcohol sprays.

Packaging

This 1/2 ounce perfume comes in a cobalt blue glass bottle. The black twist-off lid has a plastic application wand attached. There are no ingredients or instructions on the bottle.

As it clearly says "sex attractant cologne" on the front, this is hardly discreet. The problem can be fixed by using rubbing alcohol and a cotton pad to wipe off the label.

Follow-up commentary
Whenever I'm going to do something that involves fairly important contact with people (meetings, appointments, work--basically anything but the grocery store), I apply a little of this. I find the scent quite different now that I have been off of oral contraceptive pills, so I'm thinking it might interact with your body chemistry in a very unique way, because none of my other perfumes smell any different on me post-pill.

Partners still swoon over it without noticing the scent because I tend to use a lot of scented things like sugar scrubs, lotions, and additional perfumes. It rarely clashes with my perfume and if I'm wearing one with a hint of fruit, it seems to blend harmoniously and make both scents smell richer.

While I obviously cannot say with any evidence to back up whether or not it's placebo effect, I notice more snuggles and nuzzles and advances from the lovers when I wear the oil. I can't vouch too much for the validity of it oil being a general charisma-enhancer because I kind of draw attention all by my bad self (piercings, tattoos, super long black-and-blonde hair, super tall...all in a small rural town? yeah, I don't have to do much to get attention here...negative OR positive!). However, it appears that I get the good, friendly sort of attention when I wear this in public, as opposed to the snarly what-is-that-daughter-of-satan doing in my general store look.

If I ever run out--and I doubt I will, because this bottle seems endless and the stuff is potent enough to use just a few drops at a time--I will repurchase. I'd also consider buying it as a fun little stocking stuffer for friends.
