This set is the best gift I got this year. Okay maybe not the best but its darn close! I get the smoothest lips when I use it and it smells great. It's all natural and I don't have to use a ton of product. I would have given this set a 5 if the balm had been more unique but a 4 isn't bad. You should try it.
I got this set as a gift for Christmas. I guess my partner noticed how dry my lips had gotten and wanted to give me a little help.
The set comes with 1 scrub and 1 lip balm. The scrub is meant to exfoliate the dead skin that can build up on your lips. The scrub exfoliates with small sugar crystals that are not abrasive or rough on the skin. The balm helps restore moisure and prevent chapped and cracked skin.
The scent I have is peppermint but it also comes in strawberry. This set would make a great gift since it comes in a cute package and has everything you need.
I love that this set can be used by any gender anywhere. If you don't mind feminine packaging, guys you can enjoy this too.
The scrub has grains of smooth sugar in it. To me they are less rough than regular granulated sugar. They still remove dead skin but do not feel rough on the skin. To me the grains are between the size of table salt and regular sugar. The scrub is a bit greasy but to me it helps make removing the skin easier and quicker. Its not so greasy that it will clog your pores or leave your shiny but it is around the level of thicker Vaseline.
The balm is more of a smooth solid in the container. I usually can push my finger firmly enough to pop up a piece of balm to use on my lips. Otherwise it may take a bit of time to warm the balm up enough to get enough on your finger to apply. When applied it looks more matte so I'm guessing it has to do with the wax in it. It doesn't feel sticky and it applies evenly and absorbs well.
The scrub smells like a slightly sugary peppermint which smells strong. Its not overly strong and my partner only noticed when I kissed her after using it. Since you apply it on your lips it will smell stronger to you.
The balm also has a peppermint scent to it but not as strong as the scrub. I tend to not notice it as much after I have it on a hour or so.
Since I am pregnant right now I didn't want to taste either products. However when wearing the balm I do notice a slight waxy or balm taste. Its neither pleasant or unpleasant. It does feel waxy on the tongue if you apply too much and it falls onto it. The scrub smells nice but I can imagine it doesn't taste the same. My partner thinks the balm tastes slightly waxy but isn't bothered by it either.
For me the scrub is where this set truly shines. I use the scrub about once every day and I have not experienced a rash or anything. The first time I used the set I noticed that the scrub removed almost all of the dead skin. I noticed the lines in my lips were more refined and smoothed out. So far since using it I don't have to apply so much lip balm to keep them hydrated throughout the day.
I do notice that the scrub can be hard to wash off since its slightly greasy. The sugar granulates come off easily but the slight sticky or greasy base remains a bit. I would not advise anyone to wipe it off with a dry cloth since it will take a few times to get it all off. I just take a warm cloth to my lips and its gone.
The balm to me is nice but nothing special. I prefer shiny balms that are slightly sticky since I don't have to reapply them so often. While this one is moisturizing its not shiny enough and I find myself reapplying it too often. I usually reappply it every 20 minutes or so but that could be due to my super dry lips. I usually just use my shea and cocoa butter and get longer moisture from them. The balm would be nice for men since its not shiny like most are.
The great thing about this set is that you can use another balm that you prefer and the scrub will still do its job.
This set comes in a beautiful striped box much like a larger Chinese to-go box. It has the set name and scent on the front as well as a few details about the product on the back. The box is very easy to open and close. If you wanted to store the set in the box it would not take up a lot of space.
The containers that the scrub and balm come in both hold 1 fl oz of product. Each container has the same design as the box and has the ingredients on the backs. The containers are both easy to open and close as well as keep clean. I have not noticed the labels peeling or scratching easily.
This set would make a beautiful gift since the packaging is so done-up already.
I use this kit 5 times a week at the least. I usually apply it with a cotton swab and let it sit for 5 minutes. Once it soaks in I apply water to a clean toothbrush and then do circular motions onto my lips. Once I feel the skin is all moved I use a warm rag with a bit of soap to remove the scrub and dead skin.
When I'm done with the scrub I let my lips dry and then apply some of the balm. Some days I skip the balm and go for my shea and cocoa butter.
I find this process only takes 10 minutes out of my day or less if you skip the 5 minute soak.
Follow-up commentaryI still like it9 months after original review
After a few months of owning, this I finally ran out. I am so sad that it is no longer available on Eden for others to try. It is very much so a great product and worth the cash if you can still find it. If not try a home made mixture. I like to combine 1-2 teaspoons of sugar with a drop of peppermint oil and a a bit of coconut oil. Mix it into a past and use it with a tooth brush or ash cloth. That's it! Then just enjoy your smooth and luscious lips!
