Oh Contour M, where have you been all my life?!
I can't say anything negative about the Contour M. It has made massage time a lot more enjoyable for us. I have a feeling we'll both be getting massages a lot more often now that we have this stone. The only thing I'm wishing is that I had two so that I could have one for each hand!

I eagerly awaited my Contour M massage stone. I love giving and receiving massages, but inevitably our hands will get tired while delivering the massage which not only leads to a shorter massage. It takes away from the relaxation that you've gotten from getting the massage if you then have to work too hard to give a massage afterward. So, the Contour M helps to avoid overly tired hands while delivering an amazing massage that can be custom created to suite you needs.
When you get your Contour M it's in an elegant little box. It gives you some information on the outside about how you can use your Contour M. When you open the box there's a little message that says "Knead Me." It made me feel like I was Alice in Wonderland with its little message. Inside the box you find your double fired ceramic massage stone along with two little booklets talking about your new massager and how to use it to its best abilities. There's quite a lot of information included and I really liked that. It helped because there were some ways that I hadn't thought of to use it.
The first way to use the massager is by cupping your hand around the smooth portion and running it along your partner's body for a multi-point massage. I tried this way on my husband's back, his shoulders, his butt and his thighs. He found the sensations of using the Contour M in this manner to be nice on his back but a little bit too much pressure on his thighs. My husband likes light massages so for some people this method of massage could work out just fine. When it was my turn I liked the four points used in a circular manner, it helped to really get into my muscles. The next way of using the Contour M is to use the flat part against the skin to distribute pressure more evenly. My husband seemed to enjoy this a lot more then the multi-point way, while for me it felt more like a rub down and not a massage, again that shows the differences in our individual preferences. I like deep massages, he likes light. The great thing about the Contour M was that it satisfied both of our needs. You can also use only one of the nubs as a single point massage for more direct pressure in small areas. I have found this to be wonderful on the upper back; it really relieves any tension that you've built up there.
Another way that the Contour M provides variety and can be made to suite any of your massage desires, is that by warming it up in hot water or cooling it down in cold water or in the refrigerator for a bit. I personally recommend the hot water. The massage stone carries the heat really well and the massage reached my muscles deeper when the stone was first warmed. When I tried it chilled I found that I would tense up too much because of the cold. This is just a personal preference though, but whatever your preference might be you can achieve it with the Contour M.
While the Contour M glides well over the skin all on its own you can also add massage oil or lotion to enhance the massage. At certain parts during our massages we prefer to use our hands. Even during these times we still found use for the Contour M. The cupped nature of the stone allows you to pour the oil in and use it as a holder for your oil that you can then just dip into when you need more. If you then go back to using the stone for massage the oil will trickle out and provide more slickness as you go.
With using the massage stone we found that while we normally would get tired after 10 minutes of giving a massage we could easily go for 30-40 minutes because it seemed effortless. You can switch things up with the way you're holding the stone and taking time to use the hands without the stone, that you don't get that ache in your hands as you would if you just used your hands the entire time.
Jimmyjane also offers some other massage stones in their line that can all be used either alone or with the Contour M. You can use the Contour I or the Contour Q with the M for different sensations. The information for how to use these massage stones in conjunction with each other is also listed in the booklet that comes with your Contour M.

Follow-up commentary

I still love the Contour M, I actually want to buy a second one if they come back in stock. I love that the Contour M is so simple yet feels so great during a massage. It's such an innocent massager too, even my 5 year old likes to give me back and shoulder massages with the M. It gets a lot of use and still looks beautifully shiny and brand new. We find we don't use it as much for sensual massages because we like the feel of our hands better, but it's great for massaging sore muscles and for general relaxation massages.

Thank you for viewing Contour M – massager discontinued review page!
Great review! Thanks!
Good review!
Could you tell me whether or not yours has an unfinished/unglazed spot that is somewhat rough to the touch and a brighter white on the underside of your massage stone (in the contoured area)? I'm worried about getting mine wet or putting oil in it with that spot there, for fear of it absorbing and eventually cracking.
But since yours has this spot, I'm thinking it is just an area where they filled in the hole that must have been there during firing. My concern was that it might not be part of the manufacturing process and that it would be in danger of absorbing liquid and cracking later. But they must have finished it with something if no one has had any problems with theirs. And they sell quite a few of them.
This puts my mind at rest. Thanks! I feel safe now soaking it in warm water to heat it up and pouring oil in it.
