The Kama Sutra Luxury Bathing Gel in Ocean scent is just the thing to transport you to a fragrant ocean oasis, a place to leave all of your cares behind (...maybe...see below). This bath gel is expensive, but I think it's worth the cost. A little goes a long way; just a couple of pumps into your bath and you will have a mountain of bubbles along with water that is moisturizing to your skin and leaves you smelling like "ocean" for hours. I have used this bath gel to bathe in, and as a shower gel when I wanted to smell nice. It also looks nice when the bottle is sitting beside my tub with my other bath items.


I have used this bath gel for three baths and several showers, and the level of gel in the bottle has hardly gone down at all. Even with regular use, I think the bottle might last as long as three to six months, or possibly even longer.

The ingredients are:
Water (Aqua/Eau), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauramide DEA, Glycerin, Fragrance (Parfum), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Olea Europea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Seasmus Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tritcum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Tocopheryl Acetate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Eugenol, Blue 1 (CI 42090)

Most of these ingredients are moisturizers, but please note the Parabens and Sulfates if you are concerned about those chemicals. Tocopheryl Acetate is vitamin E, but in an acidic form that may cause a reaction in some people. Methylchloroisothiazolinone and Methylisothiazolinone are the highest-scoring words ever in Scrabble, and are also preservatives that have some controversy surrounding their use. Blue 1 is a food-grade artificial color that is approved by the FDA.

The Kama Sutra Luxury Bathing Gel is thicker than most bubble bath solutions; it's better described as shower gel consistency. When you dispense it onto your hand, it stays in place for a few seconds, long enough to use it to lather yourself up. Yet it is thin enough that when dispensed into a running bath, it dissipates rapidly and makes lots of medium-density bubbles, and there is no blue gel left undissolved. It's a perfect balance between being thick enough to use as shower gel, but thin enough to make a good bubble bath.

The smell of this gel, which has been given the name "Ocean Blu" by Kama Sutra, is unique. I have the Treasures of the Sea bath salts made by the same company, and they have the same scent, but the bath gel is not as strongly scented as the bath salts. The smell is difficult to describe. It's somewhat floral, but not too feminine. It is relaxing yet also invigorating, a little bit sharp but not too strong. The smell stays with you for hours after the bath or shower; it's very soft and can be smelled by you and anyone close to you, but not from more than a foot or two away.

The bubbles created by this bath gel are dense enough that they will last for a half-hour long bath. A few squirts of the gel builds up quite a lot of bubbles. I love to be enveloped in bubbles when I take a bath, and this product does not disappoint me! The water in the bath is not colored much by this gel. Occasionally I will use it along with the Treasures of the Sea Bath Salts, which colors the water to a nice shade of blue so that I can have blue bath water along with bubbles. But when used alone, this product makes little if any difference in the water's color. In the picture I used the ruler to measure the height of the bubbles right after I ran my bath using two pumps of the bath gel, and they measured about 7 inches high starting from the water's surface. You can see that a small amount of this product makes a lot of bubbles.


The moisturizers in this product are also very effective, leaving my skin soft for hours after a bath or shower.

This bath gel comes in an attractive 17.5 ounce clear plastic bottle, which looks blue because of the color of the gel. It has a black pump top, and when it's new, there is a little black clip that keeps the pump from dispensing liquid during shipping. When I received it, none had leaked into the box. The bottle is about 8 inches tall and 3 inches wide.



Although the bottle is plastic and has product information printed on it including a full list of ingredients on the back, it's very attractive and I keep it on display next to my tub with my other bath items. It is definitely pretty enough to be included in a nice gift basket of bath items for a new bride or for an anniversary present.

Wrong! No bath product can take me that far away. Maybe in about ten years!


But I'm a happy mom and I wouldn't have it any other way. I take my oases where I can find them. If I just relax into the bubbles, fish out any remaining toys from the tub, and close my eyes........
