No more itchy scratchy pants!

I get some crazy itchy razor burn like it's nobody's business. It makes me loathe shaving and even waxing. This stuff has saved me from all of that! It can be used just after shaving or to soothe already created razor burn. It cuts down on the itch and keeps ingrown hairs from happening, and it smells great. No greasy or oily residues left behind either. It's been the first thing to ever seriously work the way it should when it comes to keeping everything under control.

Use

AfterShave is an awesomely fantastic dry oil that is meant to be used after hair removal, whether it be waxing, tweezing, or shaving. It helps to cut down on irritation that comes from these methods. Most post hair removal products are generally targeted towards shavers, but this one helps to remove any waxy residue that can clog pores and cause ingrown hairs.

In my past experience, the oils like this (*ahem* Coochy) don't really do anything at all and can even make irritation worse because of the high oil and comodogenic properties. Clogging your pores means the hairs are trapped inside and voila! Razor bumps galore! And if it wasn't traumatic enough, shaving creates tiny abrasions in the skin which tend to heal after a few days. So with those and the trapped hairs you get a horrible sense of itchiness and a further distaste for hair removal that makes you feel the desire to join some hippie commune so you can avoid all of this together.

This stuff doesn't just work on intimate areas. I've used it on my horribly itchy underarms and it truly made a difference. My legs are horrible for ingrown hairs (and I'm trying to figure out why this is a recently huge problem) and this worked for them as well. Men can use it on their faces due to the scent not being overly girly. If you take hair off somewhere throw some of this stuff on and you're good to go.

It works just after a fresh shave, but also cuts down on irritation between shaves. No, seriously. You wouldn't believe it. If you somehow end up itchy and bumpy after a haphazard shave and end up paying for it a few days later you can give yourself a spritz or two of this and say goodbye to gross razor burn.

Not to mention, this stuff works as a normal body oil, too.

When researching the ingredients I was shocked to find that some of them were quite controversial despite what the company said about all of their products being safe and gentle. I'd agree with them on the gentle part and I know that not everything out there is going to have the best ingredients ever, but this doesn't change my mind on it. If you have any severe allergies to cosmetics you might want to pass on this one, but most people should have no problem here. Here's what's in it.

Isopropyl Myristate, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Oil, Salicylic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Mineral Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retyinyl Palmitate, Squalane, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Phenoxyethanol.

-Isopropyl myristate reduces the greasy feeling of products with a high oil content. It conditions the skin and leaves a slicker sheer feeling behind instead of an oily one.

-Cyclomethicone and dimethicone are silicone oils which help to coat and protect the skin.

-Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (Argan Oil) is a skin conditioning oil that is sought after as a luxury costmetic item in Morocco. Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil also fits into this category.

-Chamomile, bergamot, rosemary, and orange peel give the oil a natural woodsy and citrusy scent while helping to calm and soothe the skin. Aloe also fits into the category for skin soothing, but it doesn't come across in the fragrance. Some of these ingredients are known for their antiseptic properties. Phenoxyethanol also kills germs.

-Meadowfoam helps the oil to stick to the skin while providing even more moisturization.

-Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamine E oil) and Mineral Oil coat the skin like any oil should. Squalane is also one of these moisturizers.

-Retyinyl Palmitate is Vitamin A and an antioxidant.

-Salicylic Acid is what many acne medications are made of. It helps to shed the top layers of dead skin and acts as an exfoliant.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This stuff is pretty much a dry oil. Dry oil, you say? Yes. Think of tanning oils you might buy that come in spray form. They go on smooth and silky like an oil but they're not greasy or wet feeling. More like a sheer coating of a light oil. That's what this is like. It's velvety instead of greasy. It doesn't leave the skin super shiny. It's not sticky or too heavy and absorbs into the skin quickly. I really enjoy this because the Coochy Aftershave Spritz stuff actually said that you should wait around for it to dry and it left me with panties stuck to my freshly shaven lady parts. That's not comfortable at all. I would feel like I needed to throw on the aftershave powder just to prevent that. No standing around with your panties around your ankles here. This is also quite awesome for on the go application. You don't feel like you need to wash your hands off afterwards. They just smell pretty nice.

After it dries it's virtually gone leaving a soft, smooth feeling behind. Again, not heavy, not greasy, and not gross. If it weren't for the scent you'd barely be able to tell it was there and it will seem like your parts are naturally the smoothest thing anyone else has ever touched.

Taste / Aroma

You shouldn't eat this oil, so we're just gonna say it tastes bleh. Now, I know that sometimes we have people kissing us down there and we don't want to taste like a bunch of chemicals. As long as you haven't just applied the oil and have waited a few hours it shouldn't be a big deal. Or, if you want extra insurance, just give yourself a go with a wash cloth.

Oh man. The scent. I sprayed some of this on my lady parts a couple of days after I had shaved because I was getting slightly itchy. Holy crap! There's so much smell! It's a clean, crisp, citrusy and kinds woodsy scent that it very exhilarating and refreshing. It totally wakes you up. If you look at the scent ingredients you see that you have chamomile which is a relaxing type scent, then you have orange and bergamot which give you the citrus, and rosemary which is where the woodsy comes from. The scent is pretty overpowering at first, but it does fade away quickly and then down to none eventually. What I appreciate about it is that it's not overly girly or feminine and would be perfectly suitable for those with more masculine tastes.

Performance

The directions say to apply this to damp skin, but I first used it dry a couple of days after shaving because I was starting to get really itchy. I always seem to have razor burn no matter what I use. Different razors, shaving creams, methods. Hell, even waxing leaves me itchy and icky feeling.

One or two sprays should be all you need to cover everything. If you're using it on your legs it's going to take a little more, but not half the bottle. I sprayed it right on my upper pubic area where my razor burn usually happens. Two sprays and done. I wouldn't spray this right on the labia but it should be no harm if you do. Just spray up top and work your way down if you need it. At first the scent caught me off guard, but it soon dissipated to nothing at all.

The oil goes on very light and is almost like water. It has a velvety feel to it. Again, nothing greasy. It does leave a small bit of shine for a couple of minutes but absorbs into the skin quickly and takes the shine and the fragrance with it. I was a little skeptical about how this would work seeing as the Coochy oil like this did nothing at all, but I was quite surprised that it completely killed the itch and I don't have a single ingrown hair or bump anywhere at all, and this was after using it once and waiting a few days. It works! I did shave and use this again right afterwards and it worked incredibly well. I know I'm always going to keep this stuff handy.

The only slight complaint I have is that the bottle doesn't like to spray upside-down sometimes and it can be a little awkward to bend and twist to make sure you have a good grip on it when it's right side up. Just a small price to pay for such an awesome product. I'd rather have to fiddle with that then be sticking my hand down my pants every five minutes because I'm itching so bad.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Long lasting
