Mmm... Let Them Smell Like Cake
The fact that this product isn't tested on animals is a huge selling point to me. I usually find it difficult to find products that are cruelty-free (which is disheartening and disappointing) so to find a shimmery, delicious-smelling product that hasn't been tested on animals is a huge boon. I love that they're scented like something other than fruit or flowers, which seems to be the usual go-to for shower products. Their size would make them great stocking stuffers!

Pros
smell delicious, shimmery and pretty, good gift idea
Cons
cheap looking box, requires more product to get a good lather
I decided to take a month off from testing toys, and indulge myself in a different way. And testing the Sweet Escape Desserted Island Duo was the perfect choice. This was my first experience with the Cake company and I did a little research. I try to make educated purchases when it comes to beauty products, because I try to avoid products that were tested on animals. When I went to the Cake website (www.cakebeauty.com) I found my answer right there in their FAQ: "Does Cake Beauty test on animals? We absolutely DO NOT conduct animal testing with Cake Beauty products. We use only ingredients that have been deemed safe by Health Canada & FDA regulations and are fully committed to testing on “beauty junkies” only to ensure the safety of our products." Huzzah! I could luxuriate guilt-free!
The Creamy Coconut & Tahitian Vanilla bath and shower froth smelled delicious. In fact, I had chosen to shower in our guest bathroom so as not to disturb my husband who had gone to bed before me; however, the next day he told me he could smell the Cake products all the way in the bedroom while I was in the shower in a separate room! That's a strong scent, but I didn't find it overpowering. I did notice that I had to use slightly more on my loofah to get a lather than I do with my usual shower gel. It wasn't a huge difference, but I did notice it. It wouldn't keep me from purchasing it again. The hand lotion is infused with mango and Shea butters. I think I'm the only person on the earth who doesn't like mango. The good news (for me, anyway) is, you can only smell the mango a little bit. Win! :) I have a teeny little patch of eczema on the back of my right hand. It comes to visit me every winter and stays until about April. It's thoughtful that way. I used the hand lotion before bed and it made my hands really soft, even the patch of eczema, although I could still tell a difference between the non-eczema skin on my hand and the eczema. It really did soften it up so that's a big plus.
On the down side, while I think these products smell fantastic and look beautiful (the bath and shower froth is very shimmery in its bottle), they come in a cardboard box that looks and feels very flimsy and cheap. If I bought this for a gift, which I would be inclined to do, I would take them out of their original box and put them in a cute little gift bag or basket or something.
