All in all I am rating this product at a 4 only because the Mangosteen was a total miss for me. As a product, this stuff is wonderful! Great price, wonderful product and it would make an awesome gift! Now that I know what scents I like from the Dona line, I will be purchasing this product in either Camu Camu or Pomegranate. If you like citrus scents, try the Mangosteen but these do smell slightly different to everyone so read some reviews before you make a choice on which scent you want!
The Dona line by System JO features a wide variety of sensual bath and body products that are designed to be used either together as part of a relaxation ritual or by themselves as part of your daily routine. The variety of products offered in this line ranges from bath to shower products and so much more. If you have access to a bathtub, Dona carries many relaxing bath products in a variety of scents. If you don't have a bath or your just prefer showers, Dona has products for you available in many scents. This line truly has something for everyone, you're sure to find something that works for you and this line is full of great gift ideas. JO Dona body polish is available in 6 scents: Mangosteen, Blue Lotus, Goji Berry, Acai, Pomegranate and Camu Camu. I have almost the entire Dona line and I have every scent except for Blue Lotus, the body polish that I am reviewing is the Mangosteen. I will compare the strength of this scent to the other JO Dona scents that I have and I will also compare it to the Simply Sensual ginger pomegranate sugar scrub that Eden carries. As Hot 'N Sexy TexasMama has mentioned in her review of this product, a body polish is different from a body scrub because a scrub is designed to exfoliate while a polish is a delicate scrub and considered more of a wash. This polish is a unisex product, the scent that I'm reviewing would be perfect for both men and women because it has a fresh and clean scent. However, the one thing to remember about the products in this line is that they do smell slightly different to everyone so what I find to have a citrus smell, you may find to smell sweet. Dona's body polish is a great way to buff away flaky, dry stubborn skin and leave behind silky smooth skin. If you have a lot of buffing to do, this will not leave you completely smooth since it is a polish and not a body scrub. I found that after buffing away with Simply Sensual's body scrub, using this body polish afterwards was a nice break for my skin, it maintained the work done by the scrub but it offered a smoother, more gentle approach to exfoliating. I would avoid having this product come into contact with eyes and genitals, I did not have the polish come into contact with either but being that it is a scented product, it could very easily cause irritation.
This body polish is very thick, I would almost say that it's paste like. It's not sticky, slimy or greasy at all. One of the things that I really love about this polish is that initially it's thick like a scrub but it thins out like a polish once you've rubbed it in. It absorbs into the skin nicely and because it's so thick you don't need to worry about it dripping and running all over the place, it stays where you put it. I really like that it doesn't drip because when I'm using a product like this in the shower, the last thing I need is for a glob of it to drip onto the bath tub floor and take a slip. Easy to apply, easy to use and overall a pleasant texture. When you begin to rub it in, it thins out and leaves the surface of your skin textured with a little bit of grit. After you've polished your skin either by rubbing it on with your hand or using a bath puff to scrub away at your skin, rinsing this off leaves skin soft and smooth!
The products in System JO's Dona line are named for the aphrodisiac that each is infused with and the smell will vary from person to person. I have tried every scent so far except for Blue Lotus. The body polish that I am reviewing is Mangosteen and in comparison to the other scents it isn't one of my favorites. It's not overpowering but it isn't too mild, the strength of the scent seems to be perfectly balanced, I just simply didn't care for the scent. To me, it smells too citrus like, almost like lemon, lime and orange juice all together. It's a very clean scent with no soapy or floral smell to it whatsoever so if you're a fan of citrus scents and don't want something too mild or too overpowering, something that will leave you with a faint yet fresh citrus scent, Mangosteen may be the one for you! This body polish is not edible and I do not recommend using it on your face as it may irritate your eyes should it make contact. Some how I did accidentally taste this when I first used it and it tastes awful because it's not meant to be edible and it probably isn't safe to do so.
After comparing a body polish to a body scrub I've decided that a body scrub is tougher on my skin with a lot more grit to it. I have Keratosis Pilaris so my skin needs a rough buffing every once in awhile to buff away the dry, flaky skin. This body polish was a welcome change! Body scrubs seem to minimize my problem skin but I have always wanted something more gentle to use in between buffing sessions, this body polish was it. The body polish has enough texture and grit to it to maintain the work that the body scrub has left behind but at the same time, it's nowhere near as rough and scrubby. It's a more gentle approach and my skin welcomes it. If you have sensitive skin and want something gentle but effective to buff away dry skin and leave you silky smooth, this is a great option!
This body polish comes in a 9.5oz plastic jar with a black lid that twists off. This jar arrived in a plastic bag that was knotted shut inside of the box that it shipped in. The jar is sealed with a tamper proof tab that also features the product's scent printed on it. There is no scoop to dispense this product but I didn't find that to be a problem at all, just use your hand and dig in! I personally love the packaging for this line, it's simple yet pretty and there's nothing sexual about it except for the mention of the word aphrodisiac. The label features a black lace design along with featuring other things that are to be expected such as the company and product name. The ingredient list is featured on the label as well as basic directions for use which are "Apply to a loofah or sponge and gently scrub on skin." The jar is recyclable and it's also discreet enough to leave out in your bathroom instead of hiding it away in a cupboard. This is also travel friendly even though the jar is a considerable size, I would however recommend storing it in a sealed plastic bag when traveling. Being that it is very thick, leaking should not be a problem but just in case your luggage is jostled around, better to be safe than to have your clothes covered in body polish!
You can use this product by itself or if you're like me, start out with one and end up with nearly the whole Dona collection. System JO has created a ritual for the Dona products that consists of 5 steps which are as follows:
1. Relax:"Slow down and set the sensual tone."
2. Cleanse:"Purify your body using luxurious lathers, exfoliators and gels."
3. Nourish:"Make your skin touchable and kissably soft."
4. Illuminate:"Enhance your natural beauty and space."
5. Engage:"Share the fun with sensual play products."
When I chose Mangosteen, my brain had just zeroed in on the "mango". I love mangos and I eat at least one mango or something that has mango as the flavor at least once a day so this sounded awesome. For me, I just didn't care for the citrus scent as much as I thought I would. I want to stress that this is the only reason I am giving this 4 stars and I debated on whether or not that should make a difference in rating at all. It really came down to personal preference, I find Mangosteen to smell too citrus like and Goji berry too strong from what I have tried. Along my journey of attempting to try all of the Dona line I have decided that Camu Camu and Pomegranate are my favorites. I'm sure that you will find your favorite scents too so if you like fresh, citrus scents that don't overpower but instead they lightly linger, Mangosteen may be a perfect match for you!
Follow-up commentaryI still like it21 days after original review
I still like this product, but sadly the scent has not grown on me. I'm looking forward to trying it in pomegranate and camu camu because aside from not liking the scent, this is a great product!

I liked your comparison pictures between the scrub and polish. And I learn something new every day!!! I honestly thought the scrub and polish was the same!
I love walking buy the fruit vendors out on the streets and smelling mangoes and mangosteens... and if I had to pick one, mangosteen all the way for scent and taste not to mention the fact my fingers turn all purple!!! It is such a shame that the actual product smells nothing like mangosteens and that is the main reason I've not bought any of the Dona line. I love the scent of lotus (and the taste is even better) but from all the reviews, it is such a shame they don't smell like the aphrodisiac it is infused with.

Another well written review! I like how you list all the ingredients for those of us who have allergies or sensitive skin!

Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to read, rate and comment on my review WomanChina: I too loooove mangos so it was disappointing that I didn't fall in love with the scent but I have tried every Dona scent except for the Blue Lotus and so far Pomegranate and Camu Camu are winners for me, there is enough variety that I'm sure everyone will find one that they like

Great review, thanks for all the details. And especially the comparative pictures of simply sensual and dona.

Mangosteens and mangoes are two very different scents. Mangoes usually are more of a honey earth scent while mangosteens are... so unique I cannot even put my finger on how to describe it's scent.
